Guess I'm in the minority, I loved all the games I got, even some mentioned here (Mario Strikers Charged, Metroid Prime 3, Phantom Hourglass, those games are *still* fun for me).

The only real disappointment I had was that Brawl got moved to 2008, though it looks like I'm not alone with that complaint.

I enjoyed all the ones I got too. I can't think of any game I played this year that I didn't enjoy.

Clearly, you weren't sent a review copy of Noddy in Toyland or Bratz Ponyz. :D

From what I can tell you loved Bratz Ponyz going as far as to name it GOTY, it got you to stop playing Barbie Pony atleast :p

Biggest let down for me was Red Steel, the execution was horrible to an otherwise decent game. LAIR had its flaws but wasn't as dreadful as the press made it out to be, RB6 Vegas was utterly craptacular on the PS3.

EA continues to let me down, as a company I was less than happy with any of their contributions to gaming in 2007.

As for delays, they happen, its a part of this industry. Localization is not as easy as some may think, yes it happens from the development stages but its not plug and play. Technical issues happen at the last minute, id rather have a less buggy game than one released with a known bug. Marketing can cause delays as they are waiting for the "peak" time to release a game in order to sell as many units as they can. Delays are an expected norm in gaming, either learn to live with it or stop playing games.

Gotta agree on the EA bit. I wasn't even that keen on Burnout Dominator (PSP), playing Legends much more than that. I think Rare are going downhill too, I know some folk liked Viva Pinata but it wasn't the raging success that one usually associates with Rare.

Though that snowboarding game EA has on the Wii isn't too bad. I doubt I'll play it again but it was fun at first.

:p

EA never took me up to let me down. You can't be disappointed if you expected nothing :)

Though I AM a big Burnout fan.

Im thinking about getting the game. I heard the gameplay was amazing, and you actually get to ride the magical horse from the Netherlands!

OMGZ! You haven't gotten it yet? It's GOTY material for sure, makes Zelda look like a child's game.

i think there has only been 3 real lt downs for me and here they are

1) halo 3-i dont know why i just didnt like it + it was over hyped

2) the darkness-looked nxt gen but the multiplayer was lagging like a mofo and the game play wasnt that strong and no need to replay again

3) soldier of fortune 3 - enought said :)

Viva pinata was too original too be anything other than a cult hit. Its looks were decieving and packaged alongside a kids cartoon, most testosterone laced teenagers simply gave it a miss, especially as it released the same month as Gears of War.

It was however a fantastic, deep and highly rewarding game but one that you had to invest more than 30/60 brief minutes in. That was barely enough time to get through the small tutorial garden.

I congratulate both Rare and Microsoft for having the balls to do somthing utterly different on the 360. Just a shame most dont appreciate quality if it looks are slightly quirky. Just because a game does not sell - that is in no way indicative of the games quality... 'beyond good and evil', 'prince of persia sands of time', 'Fahrenheit', and heck even 'windwaker' sold badly or no way near as expected and I would hardly say that was because of their lack of quality.

You simply didn't like / get Viva Pinata, which is fair enough, but it doesnt mean Rare are now crap.

Perfect Dark Zero was a flawed 360 launch title, but one that is still amazingly fun to play online. Some great maps and great modes make it still one of the best.

Kameo was great too. A bit on the short side but it played and looked beautiful.

Personally I cant wait for the new Banjo game and whatever else Rare has coming out.

Maybe it was just too much of a departure for them - I mean we all expect certain games from studios. And from the guys who brought us Goldeneye and Conker 64 I wasn't expecting a take on the Animal Crossing/Harvest moon genre.

My biggest gaming letdown of 2007 was a serious lack of games I was actually interested in playing. I wasn't interested in Halo 3 or Metroid Prime 3 because I didn't care for the originals. I'd be more interested in some of the third-party Wii games (like Marvel Ultimate Alliance) if they didn't half-ass the controls to make use of the Wii controller and actually let you play it like a classic game.

My second biggest letdown was Half-Life Episode 2. The dialogue written for the Vortiguns was really annoying, and the game itself was just too easy. I don't like when I can beat games on the highest difficulty setting on my first go through.

Iscariot your second biggest letdown was Half-Life Episode 2  i though the games was pretty good yeah i though the dialogue was a bit crappy but i like the cliff hanger at the end but i was too short it had its ups and downs. But nothing has let me down as much as these two games

Perfect dark:zero and Chrome hounds i know these were early games but why why why pgr3 was an early games and tomb raider:legend and condemed and dead rising they were kick ass

It was too easy, I just flew through it. Even on the highest difficulty setting the only times I died were when I had determined to do something "my way" as opposed to the proper way (IE killing both the guardians with thrown objects only, jumping across chasms in the tunnels)

I loved Metroid Prime 3 while I hated the other two (and I don't even mention the DS game). And Phantom Hourglass? Preposterous.

When you say Gaming Letdowns of 2007, Lair, Assassin's Creed, and Heavenly Sword instantly pop into my mind.

I'd have to go with:

Mass Effect - the central storyline & ending were good, but the other storylines/quests were short and dull. The environments - apart from the main storyline - were small, and dull. Too little interactivity, too little freedom.

Bioshock - Great concept/setting, great artwork, but the gameplay just didn't grip me. Not bad, but nowhere near as good as I expected.

Halo 3 would be nowhere near this list, I really, really liked it. Best game I played this year for sure. Too short probably, but a solid story, great gameplay and a great ending to the series. Played it from start to finish 5 times in the first week - I've never been tempted to do that with any game before.
