Not sure how many people would be interested in biodegradable cell phone cases but I just stumbled onto these. Pela Case. I just ordered 2 and I placed a $10 off coupon below. They also have 100% eco friendly screen protectors I'm going to try.

Thanks for bringing these cases to our attention. I'm getting one right now; just trying to figure out whether to get classic black or classic green. I was watching some review videos, and the green looks similar to the Apple Leather forest green. Which colors did you wind up purchasing?

I order Tidal for myself and Coral for my wife. Still debating on the screen protectors since I have a supply of regular ones.

It will be very soft plastic and will not provide much protection. Just the nature of the physical properties.

I just realized I included my real name in my post. I was typing that message at work, so it was out of habit!

@rebretz000 when your cases arrive, can you please give a review on the buttons? @TSquareX mentioned it's a soft plastic, so I'm curious about the button feedback. Thanks.

I will definitely review. I’m very picky about my cases also so I hope the Pela Case is up to my standards. I’ve pretty much used Otterbox and Speck since my OG Droid.

My cases shipped and I seen today that Apple is now selling them online and in store.

I don't know if you received your case yet, but I checked them out at the Apple store. The volume buttons are really, really hard to press. It's almost like squeezing a rock. Also, I read reviews that raved about how soft the case is, but the case's softness makes it slippery. It almost feels like there's a layer of baby powder on the case. I'll still purchase one because I believe in the company's mission. The cases look a heck of lot better in person. I can see why reviewers mentioned getting a lot of comments and compliments. I think this is a good thing because it can work as a conversation starter and help raise awareness.

My cases arrive Thursday. If I lived close enough to an Apple store I would have went to check them out and maybe by the Blue version in store since it’s different than the one online at Pela. Just a slightly different blue.

Got my Pela case today and I really like it. The volume buttons are a little hard but not that bad in my opinion. The case has more grip than I was expecting which is nice. It definitely won’t offer the same protection as other cases. I’m going to use it for the next week or so and see how it goes. If we like them I’ll end up ordering a different color for the wife. Online the Coral looked pink, in person it’s definitely more orange.

So after a few weeks with the Pela case I am back to using my Speck Candyshell case. I liked the grip of the Pela case but overall the sides were too flimsy. They already started getting loose on the case the opening where the power button is stretch out also and starting drooping. I like the idea of biodegradable cases but those one didn’t hold up long at all.
I know they can make harder biodegradable materials. My wife and I got biodegradable “plastic” utensils for our wedding.

That's unfortunate that the sides begin to get loose and droop. The concept of this case is so great. Thanks for your updated review.

What a pity i'm considering a Pela case, i`ll like to contribute in their mission. Maybe i'll purchase one despite the bad review..

Finally i order a case, if someone want a case i have a 10$ referal discount. MP me and i'll give the code, expires 21 Jun 2019

I got my bee case and i am completely happy with it. What i notice is, even though i didnt ask them to mark the value down they did it. I guess they understand half of their customers are probably overseas. The envelope contains the case and two cards. Not even a paper bag to package the case.

The case has a texture like a paper bag, but it is really smooth, i really like the feeling of it, but i wont call it grippy bc it feels like it was covered in powder, its that smooth. But i guess it has ‘wont slip off your dashboard or the table’ grippiness. But it does feel kinda slippery on hand compared to ringke air and spigen liquid crystal. Those cases are sticky, this one is not. But i guess its bc its new, the case is supposed to wear out over time due to the organic material. It does feel organic. I really like the feeling tho despite not being as grippy as i thought. The material feels like rubber. Soft and malleable but sturdier than some silicone cases...

The color is pretty, in website it looks bright orange yellow but in person it looks more like mustard yellow. It does look like what you will expect coming from organic material. I’m not sure to what extent biodegradable material can look and feel like real plastics but they indeed go for the organic look and feel. I guess it does look and feel what you would expect from being eco friendly...

The power button is bare, but the volume buttons are not. Its indeed harder to press. I guess they made a trade off between easy to press button and sturdy case. But since the power button now easy to press, its harder to press volume button because your thumb will rest on the power button and accidentally take screenshots and/or put your phone to sleep. I like the look of bare power button though its kinda awkward bc almost all cases have the power button covered it just feels weird to press it bare with a case on.

For the fit, the one i got has perfect sides, the bottom is indeed kinda flimsy but this case isnt supposed to be perfect fit. It has 0.5-1 mm of room between the inside of the case and the surface or your phone. Judged from the sleep button opening. I’ve read from the website to minimize waste the case is supposed to be worn for phones with roughly same size so i guess thats why they arent 0mm fit but the case feels sturdy to me. The phone and the case don’t move around. And its nice to hold.. I feel like they will give me enough protection but then again i never care to use protection cases to actually judge it (im mainly prefer form than fuction but i know what **** is and this is aint it, at least for now).

Ill update about the flimsiness in two weeks :) but so far i really love it! i really like the look and feel of this case. Its unlike everything i bought so its probably the novelty but this thing is just so pretty. Look at the bees! And the tiny flecks! The rough texture also gives a nice stimuli when you touch it. I just love touching it lol!

I definitely buy it again for the look alone if it lasts decently. I love the idea of saving the earth indirectly.
