Just don't give her anything that is practical or useful. Generally, the more frivilous and romantic it is, the better.

Depending on weather where you are at, go camping for a weekend, and make sure to plan everything out (food, etc) and enjoy a relaxing weekend/evening/night/however long away from things.

This thread was more enjoyable to read than I expected :D

Thanks for the great ideas! Keep them coming.

would she prefer "stuff" or an "experience"?

experience.

----------

Why not buy an occasional chair to go with the occasional table?

The Eames didn't make an occasional chair, at least not one that I am aware of

----------

Bake her her favorite cake or take her go-karting if you feel like paying a bit more.

not a bad idea, they just opened a shifter kart place here, but i think she'd rather do a relaxing weekend.

----------

An occasional massage is also usually appreciated.

absolutely and it doesn't have to be her b-day either

----------

Brand new multipurpose backpack from The North Face? She could use it for work and for play. While nothing from The North Face could be considered "low budget" it might be something she would enjoy and find very useful no?

good idea, but we're already set on bags from our previous trips. i agree, outdoor gear is really, really pricey.

----------

A trip to your favorite salt mine where she can enjoy a fun filled day of manual labor. Surely that is better than................

we recently went to the salt mine near Krakow, Poland. it was quite nice. stunning actually.

----------

Like his 'tar.

Perhaps American pop culture isn't too lowbrow for him...

she already plays a Fender. not a super nice one, quite a cheap one actually, but she plays it well.

----------

A good tent is always nice, plus you can profit from it as well. :)
Depending on your / her experience, you could also take her to a trip to the Alps. Spring is a good season to climb some of the high summits.

this is a really good idea. we were talking about camping in northern Italy this year. do you have any specific recommendations, as I haven't bought a tent in a few years (like 10 and I'm sure that the technology has changed.)?

----------

A strap on dildo just to see how she reacts.

they just opened a new sexshop in Zeil Gallerie. haven't checked it out yet.

----------

Potentially something from thinkgeek.com?

do they ship over here?

----------

How about a card, some flowers or a cake? You already got her a present. It's not necessary to spend extravagantly on a birthday. Just let someone know they are appreciated. Assuming she is really into music you already got her a thoughtful gift.

I say assuming because some people buy gifts they want not the recipient. I'd have know idea as to what the case here is.

On the other hand if someone does expect tons of gifts then run. Your wallet will be empty in no time flat.

I'm think a trip to Tuscany in a farmhouse (it can be cheap off-season.) cooking and relaxing all week may not be a made idea.

----------

Since you already got her some stuff, I humbly suggest doing something for or with her. I once went nuts in the kitchen with a full home cooked meal with the works and a nice table setting, and she was way excited (I usually loathe cooking). Something like this or a nice outing with a card and some flowers would probably go over very well. :)

great idea :D

----------

A punch in the face.

Can you hit women in the face? Sure you can! They have faces, don't they?

If its a milestone birthday, use your ring hand.

I'd probably get punched back and I'm ugly enough as it is :(

Birthday lick. :p

That's not much different than any other day :D

----------

And I was going to suggest an xbox :p

we have a Wii and I just got her a Zelda game.

----------

You should have got a Tenori On

YouTube: video

A bit pricey though

that's bad-ass and not that much more than a kaoss pad 3. thanks for posting the video :D

----------

Buy her the new iPad!
Go on, you know YOU want too!

Nah, we're not iPad people.

----------

That Kaoss Pad is amazing.

yeah, the inexpensive keyboard has MIDI in/out as well, so it ca be controlled with the Kaoss Pad.

----------

What's the prize?? Nudie pick?

What would you like as a prize?

We stayed in a Tuscan farmhouse with full kitchen for 250€ (for 7 days). I think it's time to go back. I could cook at week for her and we could sit outside and enjoy the weather (which must be better than Germany right now.)

Yeah, I'm surprised. I thought it would be a troll-fest.
