I would have said U.S. Jews, for lots of money flows from that source.

No complaint, their choice, just sayin'. :)

No, I was just correcting his post. I didn't mean to imply that it's solely funded by the Israeli government.

If you read the wiki link, it will tell you that it is a charity "founded in cooperation with Charles Bronfman and Michael Steinhardt as well as the Israeli government, private philanthropists, the Jewish Agency for Israel, and Jewish communities around the world". It was created in 1994.

I'm going on a trip to Israel on November 22. It's a 5 week long trip that my school runs. The 10th grade every year goes. This year, I am a sophomore, so I am going. I am so excited! My school is a Jewish school in Denver. I bought an Orange Israel SIM card to take with my 1st Generation iPhone to Israel. I am not taking a computer, which bums me out... But I'll have an internet-connected (I got some data preloaded on the pay as you go SIM) iPhone, so it will be ok.

As for Nazi survivors, there are still quite a few left and I don't see the "apologetic youth" doing anything about it. On top of that, I don't believe for a second that Germany stopped being antisemitic. I think they just hide it better now. Imho, it's definitely not a coincidence that National Socialism happened in Germany and not some other country.

Have you ever even been to Germany? How many Germans have you met? Typical ignorant American comment.

Since Charles Bronfman is Canadian that should read Canadian and American Jews, along with other charitable organizations and the Israeli government.

Yeah, made in Mexico
None are built in Mexico.
No. Germany. Wolfsburg to be exact.
Only 2 models are built in Wolfsburg and even then the one for the international market is assembled elsewhere.

Anyway VW is an automobile I'd never go near due the the origins of the auto company.

The MKV Golf GTI (which is what I have) sold in the US was built and assembled in Wolfsburg. I believe the Golf GTI for right hand drive markets was built in South Africa. I think some of this may have changed for the MKVIs. But I know for a fact mine was built in Wolfsburg and I wouldn't have it any other way.

If I dislike Germans why would I go to Germany? Where is the logic? No, I haven't been there and I wouldn't go there even if somebody paid me. I have met Germans before. Can't say it was exciting.

As for "typical ignorant American comment" guess again. I wasn't born in US. I was born in a land that actually put the Germans down and repelled them from its own soil.

Too obvious. Didn't bother.

Wait....someone can be a country?

...

Absolutely! I'm a country! And today is a national holiday too! Just 'cause I said so....

I wish the Birthright program had been in place when I was younger.

I spent a number of weeks as a volunteer on a kibbutz, and the volunteer coordinator (a Sabra, from pre-independence) used to take us on day-trips every other weekend. Wow. Besides knowing the country like the back of her hand, every time we stopped she would point at a hill or a gully and talk about which one of her relatives had fought - and often died - there in one of the many many battles that have been fought all over the countryside. Very Sad.

^^^The Canadian military has secrets that the Chinese are interested in? News to me....
....
Considering how much American high-tech is made in Canadian factories, yeah....

Plus Canadian Frigates have been certified to be able to command a task-force that include American Navy ships. (As of a few years ago, the Royal Canadian Navy was the only navy that could boss American ships around in a multinational task-force ... this may have changed lately, I've not kept track)

We may not be big, but we're small!
