Unless the updates are really out of this world (which I doubt as Apple are usually conservative with specs), then a lot of guys buy refurbs around the update time anyway to get a good deal. I maybe even go refurb if these updates don't get me wet, as the difference between my gfs MBP (last update) and my MBP (3 years old) is.. well huge, and her's in a basemodel. I could get a high-end refurb and get blown away, for a decent price :)

If it's any constellation, i got the same refurbished MBP for $999 last fall and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! I plan on keeping my mac for many years to come. There's no reason to doubt your purchase - you truly got an outstanding bargain! :apple:

OP take this guy's advice ... it is indeed in the stars.

For $999 you got a great deal. I would be happy with that. A brand new MBP of decent spec is pretty expensive indeed. Since you didn't pay so much either if you do decide to upgrade again in 3 years you wont be that much out of pocket either.

I have the last pre-unibody MBP and I must admit it does bug me not having the latest and greatest, especially now that my form factor is old too. The unibody macs just looks so cool. However I spent over $3000 on this machine so I can't justify getting a new one so soon (less than 2 years) when to be honest, I don't need it.

Enjoy your new computer!

It won't be too different from the refresh same design etc.

If it does what you want it to do, and you paid what you think is a fair price for it, then just enjoy it. If they come up with an upgraded model in a month, it doesn't mean that yours will work any less well then.

And presuming that you bought a 13" mbp, my prediction is that apple will put any new cpu in the higher end models first, and gradually work it down to the entry levels. (They're evil geniuses at upselling.) My prediction is that they'll just put in a speed bump c2d in the entry level 13" mbp.

Technology punks us all in the long run.
