Well, Apple claims they have to play gatekeeper because we're not safe otherwise. So they should take responsibility when they screw up.
Oh you mean like the trolls who claim they are gatekeepers and just holding companies to account such as troll EVPaddy, who then never says sorry when they get it wrong???

They did not screw up. Just as a car maker does not screw up if a driver speeds and drives carelessly and kills someone or drives drunk!

You can’t pay your bills with it. It’s a hobby right now which if it did take off and go mainstream for the rest of the planet it would take decades. Even then it’s a long shot. It’s simply not an every day means of payment.
Your point was that you could not use BTC anywhere and now you got proven wrong you can not move the goalposts.
I can even buy a car with it if I wanted to, the fact that it is not accepted everywhere means nothing.
Once upon a time the dollar was not accepted anywhere but the Us, does that mean we should have banned it then???
No!

You cant buy food or pay your bills or rent or mortgage. Thats what 99 percent of people are concerned with. So my apologies for being generic. I know you can buy things. But for people to survive in daily life, using bitcoin isnt possible. That was my overall point.

This. You can't have your CEO running his mouth about the importance of the monopoly of the App store, and not allowing side loading of apps due to security and privacy concerns, and then completely take no ownership when your App approvers aren't doing their due diligence.

Despite the claims of the usual members trying to get their WWDC invites by defending Apple on anything, it doesn't work both ways.
Oh you mean like a policeman would be held to account just because they have a 99.99% track record of catching criminals yet one slipped past them?
Because of course you are 100% perfect right?

If Apple is assuring people by limiting what it allows via it's app store, perhaps it should take responsibility by insuring users when it lets something unsafe in. Let's not blame the victims of this scam (people are awful here ridiculing others who lost all that money to defend Apple). They could have been more prudent, but when Apple uses their autocratic power to limit what users can do with their phones, it should bear a bit of the brunt
Hmmm, let us see.
A user blindly hands over $600,000 to an app he has not down any checks on without thinking first or taking steps to protect himself and then we should all attack Apple and call this guy a genius?
How about **** no!

Oh boy do you have a lot to learn about psychology. Humans, including YOU, are easily outsmarted and hackable. Especially ones that think they know better.
Does not change the fact that this guy is to blame for just handing over $600,000 to any old person.
Kind of like handing over $20,000 for a new car to some random guy walking past the dealership just because they wore clothes that were similar to the dealer, then expecting that you do not get called a total moron!

Apple could easily wire this man the $600k, but you gotta realize Apple is greedy, selfish, and does’t really care about their customers—it’s all about that bottom line.
Just as you I am sure could east post a common that is balanced and thoughtful but instead choose to come across as selfish, sanely and petty.
Apple is not responsible for another person's stupidity!
If that were the case then everyone would have their hand outstretched.

Of course I realise that but that doesn't mean that this is still not good. In fact this reminds me the article about Tim Cook and how he interacts with employees at meetings. He is not satisfied that certain margin of error happens (like with any manufacturing) but he wants to know why it happened and what can be done to fix it.
This is similar. You simply cannot walk away and say : "Hey, small % will always happen so its fine" NO NO NO, you adjust and improve so eventually you might eliminate it all. Compartmentalise an issue is not a solution!

You do realise that no system is 100% perfect right?
You do then understand that having a some rogue apps getting through then removed is better than hundreds of thousands right?
This is good for consumers a sit gives them the best level of security to be reasonably expected.

Why? Because

It’s our store. And we take responsibility for it.

We believe that what’s in our store says a lot about who we are. We strongly support all points of view being represented on the App Store. But we also take steps to make sure apps are respectful to users with differing opinions, and reject apps for any content or behavior that we believe is over the line...

The five pillars of the guidelines — Safety, Performance, Business, Design, and Legal — require that apps offered on the App Store are safe, provide a good user experience, adhere to our rules on user privacy, secure devices from malware and threats, and use approved business models.

Or is all that just lip service?
They take responsibility for their store. They can not be held accountable for every idiot who comes along now can they?
Sorry you hate Apple so much but you are wrong here accept it.

Apple is responsbile for a refund. It was their fault that they let the fake apps in. The consumer uses Apple services in expectations that they filter out and guarantee authenticity.

I don't know if Apple is stupid or not but they should have levels for app approval. Ex:

1-Games = any one
2-Data collecting = must be corporate with legal certification
3-Money = Real paper work and person-to-person meeting to sign agreement with Apple to let their app on the app store.

This is NOT GitHub.
No, not even close!
I already proved why so please read my other posts.
