I love the biteSMS app and purchased it today. The only thing that bugs me is the PINK icon. I was glad to see the icon was updated to Retina now. I installed the "biteSMS to SMS icon" theme package and turned it on in Winterboard. have respringed and restarted a few times. It doesnt change the icon, its still Pink.

Any ideas or other themes that will fix this?

It wont change the icon because of a change in the file system for iPhone4. Here's what I did (you'll need a basic knowledge of SSH):

1) Using SSH login to your iPhone with your favorite SSH client (I'm on windows so I use WinSCP)

2) Navigate to root/private/var/stash/applications/mobileSMS. Copy the file "icon@2x.png" to your desktop.

3) Now navigate to root/private/var/stash/themes.xxxxx (different for every phone) and you should see a folder for the package you downloaded from cydia (mine was biteSMS to Messages icon). Open all of the folders ("BiteSMS to Messages icon"/bundles/com.bitesms) and copy over the "icon@2x.png" file we put on the desktop earlier.

4) Exit SSH session and respring.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I emailed the developer today, said he would be updating soon... So should then work.

While what the above poster said will work, I personally feel that some of the other icons within BiteSMS are still out of place. I prefer using this theme here: http://forums.bitesms.com/forums/1/topics/1353

It has been updated for iPhone 4 and looks really good. You will have to manually put the themes folder (root/private/var/stash/themes.xxxxx) using SSH (I also use WinSCP). Enable it in Winterboard and respring.

You can also do this using iFile, just go to the mobileSMS folder, copy icon@2x.png then paste it in the biteSMS folder. You might want to backup the other icon first.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I think I'll just wait until the dev updates because the steps are bit overwhelming right now. Lol

Ugh I downloaded it and clicked on it in winterboard rebooted my phone and it's still pink! What gives?

This is ridiculously simple to fix and you don't even need SSH.

1. Download iFile. It's shareware so you could use it for free.

2. go to /var/stash/Applications/MobileSMS.app

3. look for Icon-Small.png, Icon-Small@2x.png, icon.png and icon@2x.png, click edit and then the little arrow in the lower right, then --> copy
(you might not need all 4 but this is what I did and it works perfect.)

4. go to var/stash/Applications/biteSMS.app and select edit and then paste.

5. reboot/respring

Bam, you have just replaced the ugly pink icon with the nice default apple retina one. Total time invested 5 minutes if you include installing iFile from a slow ass cydia.

tl;dr: copy the icons from your MobileSMS.app app into BiteSMS.app

You need to change these six files for complete replacement. Mine looks EXACTLY like the stock messaging application. I even changed the names to say Messages everywhere instead of BiteSMS...

What I did was use the Apple Icon.png to replace the BiteSMS Icon.png & Icon@2x.png and then use the Apple Icon-small.png to replace the other 4.

EDIT: Ignore the e-mail links.

I made a package for cydia that replaced the pink icon with the green retina icon.

Edit: Download link removed. Package is on Cydia.

I just followed this, but I downloaded the "biteSMS to RETINA icon" instead and activated it in Winterboard. I resprung IN WINTERBOARD (not using the respring in SBSettings) and boom...it worked flawlessly.

I'm a bit confused about biteSMS...is it free or do you have to purchase it? I installed it via Cydia and it said I have a trial until 8/13/10.

dude, I just downloaded biteSMS to Retina SMS... and what it does is changes the icon of your biteSMS to look identical to the stock SMS icon. Get It! You need Winterboard to apply it. Problem Solved.

I have SBsettings and winterboard both already. Other addons work fine. I installed the biteSMS to Retina SMS and its checked but not working. I already tried to respring.

I'm not sure why it's not working but It's on Cydia now and I can confirm that the version on there works. Just search biteSMS to Retina SMS Icon.

You're welcome. Haha, I'm surprised nobody made a package like this before me.

Do you have a iPhone 4? I am also on the latest iOS, 4.0.1 I think it's numbered

Yes, and I have 4.0.1. I originally made this package for myself then I realized there wasn't one on Cydia yet so I submitted it. I'm positive that this works because I have had 5 people confirm that it works. You just need to activate it in winterboard.

I posted a screenshot above that shows winterboard with it enables :) I appreciate your help. I'm using the one from Cydia
