Black Friday

MacRumors posted Microsoft Office on sale at Apple Stores $99.99 Did not find that the case. ??

$120 in sales tax isn't a killer (on base retina), seems reasonable to me although this is coming from the UK which has taxes of £184 where even with CA sales tax the MBP is £250 (approx.) cheaper

I'll never understand why you guys seem to think that a little bit of sales tax is over doing it and in this case a "killer" :p

Not saying it's unfair, just that it's a lot on an expensive computer and a lot more than in most other US states. The $130 tax can be easily overlooked when considering the cost, and it outweighs the value of the gift cards.

I want to Apple yesterday with a receipt from Nov 1 for an iPad Mini ( for a kid for Christmas) and a receipt for an iPad Air. They not only gave me a $50 gift card and a $75 gift card but also redid both my purchases which increased my AppleCare an additional 29 days! Love Apple customer service.

If you are a VERIZON customer and have an HH Gregg store in your area, they have the best deal I know of on the iPhone 5c and 5s. They are offering a $100 gift card with purchase. However, TODAY, November 30 is the last day.

I'm with AT&T, so I was disappointed when I discovered they only sell Verizon. I'll settle for Walmart's $75 gift card offer, but at least I have a huge range of options on which to use the gift card.

Buy some shares of AAPL instead. Or donate some money to a local charity.

Mindlessly buying expensive gadgets for no specific purpose is a bit wasteful, no? Anyhow, it's up to you to figure out what to do with your dollars.

Good luck.

If instead of buying the first ipod in 2001 for it's price of $399, you purchased 22 shares of AAPL at $17.65, your investment would now be worth $12,233. Sobering thought (because i bought that first ipod).

Lucky. Meanwhile, iMacs are dying once they go out of AppleCare warranty :(

Yeah, but you could have also lost the $399 investing it in AAPL, assuming that the future cannot be predicted. Today, I personally think it's a bad idea to stock up on AAPL. And your iPod is a collector's item.

Well, I was sitting here with a $1000 gift card, tried to buy something and can't. On their "special" promotion where you get a gift card back you can't use a gift card for (even part of) the purchase.

Oh well Apple, less $ for you!

Exact same thing happened to my sister. She got a gift card a few months ago. Went in to buy a iPad Air. They would not accept the gift card for the special promotion. Said that would be like money laundering!?!!! She is livid and will not purchase form Apple again. Most idiotic policy I can imagine with no one who has the authority to accommodate disgruntled customers.

Money laundering? That's outrageous!

Is it possible that Apple or some of it's stores are treating a gift card as a prior purchase?

I hope you get some consideration from Apple. Certainly not th way to build customer loyalty or goodwill of any kind.

Actually, $24,466 … the stock split 2 to 1 after that as I recall.

Apple drops with hoiliday ball.

Didn't even check the specials this year. They are generally so trivial. My local store was quiet the Fri before Thanksgiving with only one genius working the bar. The only rental I made on iTunes did not show up in any menu. It showed up on an invoice but there was no report a problem button.

I already had made an order a few days earlier to be picked up later at the Apple Store and called Apple to see if they would apply the Black Friday sale on my order and they said they could adjust it, but I should call back on Black Friday. So I did. But then they wouldn't apply the promotional sale. I could of course have cancelled my order and made a new, but I would have lost a lot of days on the delivery of my CTO Mac, so I would not be able to bring it back to Europe.
