I bought one white homepod at costco for $250, but i am having second thoughts about it, sonce I actually wanted to get Sonos One. I might get the other speaker and compere them. I do not need siri, nor homekit support, so i am purely looking at these from sound performance flexibility perspective. Unless homepod wows me compered to Sonos One, it goes back to Costco

I bought one at launch but didn't really find a use for it for a while but ended up sticking it in my shower for some light music listening. I still think at $250 it's too expensive and will give this a hard pass.

OMG, the horror of Google knowing what podcasts I listen to.

Apple products will always have a special place in the hearts of people that care about their privacy rights. Amazon and particularly Google don't remotely demonstrate as much concern for your privacy. If you have a Google assistant in your home you are the PRODUCT, not the customer.

Something I don't get: You don't actually HAVE to buy anything from apple.
If you prefer something google has to offer because it's cheaper and offers better functionality, just grab it instead.
There are plenty of products out there..
Yes, apple stuff is expensive, has always been and for some products, for some people it might be beyond reasonable.
I'm very happy with the quality and durability of the apple stuff I bought.
Though I have to say I'm super happy with my iPhone 7 and my old MP 6,1..
Apparently they do something right. No one would complain about an expensive product if one wouldn't be interested in it at least a little. If you need new stuff every year, of course they'll make you pay.

Personally i think its a lot of HYPE for something that does very little i love Apple products just not this one.

I just did this. I get all my tv content through Apple TV. The stereo setup makes it sound great.
I do the same as all my viewing is done through my Apple TV

Personally, I have decided to take my first real plunge into home automation........and buy a Google Home Hub and Mini...Best Buy is having awesome deals on these products and they look a lot more useful than an expensive HomePod. I believe you can even stream Apple Music to them too, if I ever move back to that service. 2019 goal - to give Apple as little money as possible.
I don’t think you can stream Apple Music. Maybe via casting. I have a google home mini in my bedroom I will test it out.

Tim Cook is still laughing at those who think it's a good deal.

Personally, I think it should be 30 bucks given its limited usability and connection. No Bluetooth support or an audio-in option.. WTF Most of the world uses Andriod.

God forbid someone comes over and wants to play some music. Tim Cook, bad CEO or worse CEO in Apple History?
Regardless of Siri’s shortcomings the audio output is worth more than £30.

Still way overpriced for what they are. They sound decent, but functionality and options are limited or non-existent.

I can’t understand why people would gladly pay that much when they can get something better for less money.

And every word you say using Ok Google, every location you visit, every product you’ve ever purchased and every person or business you’ve ever talked to. Yeah, what’s wrong with that?

Oh you are right. Didn’t catch that. Good call!

I bought the white HomePod online. No way I’m going into a Best Buy on Black Friday just for the color. The wife will probably like the white color better anyway ;)

Stopped in at BestBuy for a couple things, it wasn't busy at all.

I love mine. Use it daily. Very happy with it.
We love ours, too. Whether we are listening in the kitchen or controlling what is playing via Airplay on my AppleTV (in my main system), it is probably the most used tech (other than the iPhone) around my house. It is also great for controlling my Hue Bulbs and setting alarms because the mics can be heard from the adjoining rooms without screaming at it (like I often have to do with my Echo Dots).

$250 is very interesting and if I hadn't just spent too much on a Mac Mini, I would get another one for the bedroom.

Because of sound quality, or perhaps they are deeply integrated into the ecosystem, looks, design aesthetics. Lot’s of reasons. The other speakers look cheap and ugly and the sound quality doesn’t wow me as much as the HomePods.

Not sure what dream world you live in

It’s worth 250 alone just for the sound alone

Because those other things don’t work with my Apple devices like the HomePod does. I have 2 HomePods, 2 echos and a google home and the HomePod is my favourite.

I know a £30 speaker sounds like trash.

I’ve got Echo and the Google home mini. I love Alexa but had to unplug most of our Echos because they keep activating and commenting on conversations. It’s creepy. And often funny. But it’s bothersome enough I unplugged all but the one in the kitchen.

Google home mini so far behaves itself much better.

I think a HomePod is a nice gift to get at this price. Won’t say whether or not I did...;)

For what I use my homepods for I don’t ask it anything different than I do with my google mini.

I took the plunge. While homepod is still limited by Siri, Siri is getting better (albeit slowly), and I've only heard good things about the sound quality (pun absolutely intended). If nothing what, I figure if I hate it or regret the purchase or what not, I can easily return it to best buy.

I just bought a second one-the stereo pair is amazing.

Now I’m tempted to buy another for our bedroom on the third floor.

Oh please.....and the boogeyman is going to come and get you. Bistroengine from macrumors as an individual is not important to any multi-billion dollar company including Amazon or Google. Stick with the overpriced, crippled Homepod while waiving the flag of "privacy"....I'll be enjoying a wide array of services and functionality with my Sonos One.

Lol $30 for something that cost apple around $216 to make. The person can still ask Siri to play what they want. Android users can buy the google home or echo. This isn’t for them.
Us hi end android users use sonos 1. Alexa is great, Googla assistant is coming and wait for it,,,,, it sounds better than homepod and you get 2 all for $174.
