We've been focusing on deals on physical products over the past few weeks, but Black Friday is also a great time of year to purchase a streaming membership. Some of the biggest services have great discounts for new and select returning members this week, including Disney+, Hulu, Paramount+, and Peacock.

Disney+ and Hulu

Starting with the Disney+ and Hulu bundle, you can get Hulu (with ads) and Disney+ (with ads) for $2.99 per month for an entire year, down from the regular $10.99 per month price. This offer is valid for new and eligible returning Hulu/Disney+ subscribers.

As usual, this offer will revert to the regular $10.99 per month price (or then-current regular monthly price) at the end of your first year. Shoppers have until 11:59 p.m. PST on December 2 to take advantage of this offer.

Additionally, if you just want Hulu (with ads), you can get it for $0.99 per month for a year, down from $9.99 per month.

Paramount+

You can get either Paramount+ Essential or Paramount+ with Showtime for $2.99 per month for your first two months this Black Friday. Paramount+ Essential is typically priced at $7.99 per month, while Paramount+ with Showtime is typically priced at $12.99 per month.

Shoppers should remember that this deal is only for the first two months of your Paramount+ subscription, and after that period it will return to its regular pricing structure. Paramount+ is only focusing on monthly plans this Black Friday, and there are no deals on annual plans.

Peacock

Peacock has one of the best all-around streaming deals this week. You can get a full year of Peacock (premium annual plan) for $19.99, down from $79.99. You can also opt to pay $1.99 per month for six months. This plan includes ads.

This sale will run through December 2, and is available to new and select returning customers.

I’m not criticizing MR, but as a Canadian actively looking to pay money for streaming deals and bundles, these are pathetic:
Disney and Hulu seem like a good deal but the deals are only on the ad-supported tier; I’m not paying money to watch ads
Paramount is for two months, that’s a nonstarter if it goes back to the regular rate after
And Peacock is US only
Back to TPB for me

I’m not paying for a subscription with ads, and I’m extremely disappointed that anyone is. The clock is ticking and it’s almost time. They’ve all increased prices now to the point that the “ad supported” plan is the same or more as the original price.

Next year one of them will announce the end of the ad free plan. I wonder who will be bold enough to make the first move. If it’s even a matter of that, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re colluding to do it around the same time.

Thanks for posting this, did a year of Peacock for $20

My Kohl's credit card is via Capital One - it lets you create virtual credit cards, I used this to pay for peacock to prevent automatic renewal in a year.

No deals on ad-free subs? Like others I refuse to pay a sub to watch ads. I only subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV+. Netflix is the only sub that is purely for streaming because they have an unbeatable library. I was hoping for a non-ad tier deal for Disney+, but now I just sub for a month, binge what I want to watch, then unsub after

The only reason they even offer these deals is they actually make more money from ads than the ad-free subscription fee.

Alternatively, you can go to the account settings on the website (not the app) and cancel the plan. It’ll still allow you to have access to the service until the end date.

None of these services even thought of doing a black friday discount for the ad-free tier. That's why these current discounts are not great. If you really wanted a Black Friday deal, making the ad-free tier like 50% would have meant a whole lot more. It also would have been nice because I am interested in resubscribing to Max but it is expensive.

I love reading the comments from people who say they refuse to pay for a subscription that includes ads. I mean, more power to you, but there was a time when we all paid hundreds of dollars a month to the cable companies to get constant ads and garbage stations (and many still do). Even before that (and still) we paid hundreds of dollars on TV sets to watch TV shows with ads over the air. This is really no different. Don't think of it as paying for ads...think of it as paying for the privilege of using your mute button and getting up to pee once in a while.

Wow, Peacock must be desperate for subs to offer that deal.
Wow! You know things are getting rough when streaming services are running these kind of deals 😂

This isn't anything new or out of the ordinary. These streaming services offer sales every Black Friday. Peacock offered a similar deal last year ($1.99/mo or $19.99/yr). They more than make up for the discounted price through ad sales. Just look at how well they did during the summer Olympics. Advertising on Peacock contributed to the $1.2 billion in total ad revenue.

Comcast’s NBCUniversal has a longstanding bet on the Olympics, but this summer the company threw all of its resources at the Games in a bid to grab more viewership — especially for its growing streaming platform, Peacock.

It appears to have paid off so far — more than 30 million people tuned in to NBC’s TV and streaming platforms to watch the games, and a record $1.2 billion in advertising revenue was generated.

Arguably no NBC property shined brighter during the Olympics than streaming platform, Peacock.

Due in large part to Peacock, 23.5 billion minutes of the Olympics were streamed, up 40% from all prior Summer and Winter Olympics combined, according to a release.

If you subscribe to Hulu you can get Starz for .99 cents a month for 12 months.
Less than 1 cent a month for Starz sounds like a deal. But I'm not seeing it.

I remember when the deals were like 50% off for black Friday sales. Good times
These prices are more than 50% off though.

None of these services even thought of doing a black friday discount for the ad-free tier.
I don't think you understand how this works. They'd lose money if they dicounted their ad-free tiers. But by offering a discount on an ad supporter tier, it gives them more subscribers *and* it lets them more than offset the discount from ad revenue.

So it's not really a "deal". They only say it's a deal because it's Black Friday and they kinda have to.

It's a deal for those who are willing to accept ads in exchange for a lower monthly price. Maybe that's not you. But there are a lot of people who do.

Over 50% of new Netfix subscribers are choosing the ad-supported tier.

The company said Tuesday that more than 50% of its new sign-ups are for ad-supported plans in countries that offer the option

For Disney+, about 60% of new subscribers are choosing the ad-supported plan

During an earnings call on Thursday, Disney CEO Bob Iger addressed Disney+’s ad-supported business and how the company is attempting to move consumers to that side of the platform, adding that the increased streaming pricing the company put into place was designed to move people in that direction. He also cited that around 60% of all new subscribers are going to the ad-supported tier. According to Iger, about 37% of all subs in the U.S. are AVOD (advertising-based video on demand) subs, and 30% globally.

No thanks. I was happy to pay for multiple services when they were priced decently. Plex is my god now.

Considering the Disney, though I don't love the ads.

Just curious how intrusive they are.

Also considering just buying the one DVD my kid watches on repeat and sticking with that...
