find it really disappointing that i’m threatened with a ban nearly every time i post - but the well established users here can make absolutely disgusting posts about something they have zero understanding about. why do middle aged white men get a free pass when it comes to issues/news surrounding PoC, the lgbt community or other minorities?

- Not sure why/when you were threatened with a ban, but it wasn't related to the black history thread since you can't post there.
- Only people with a certain number of posts can post to political news posts. That's not because we value their opinion one way or the other. It just means they didn't create an account just to post to that thread, so it prevents drive-by commenters who can be more inflammatory.
- We are phasing out political discussion. This one news post was somewhat unique in that it was about a new Apple product but also overlapped with potential political discussion. We moved it to the political section, but next time we could leave it outside of politics and just delete any political leaning posts, but that requires more constant baby-sitting.

+ let me be clear, there’s a big difference between sharing opinions/valid arguments (which is great!) and being flat out racist and homophobic. the line between them is blurred on this site for some reason and i’ve never understood why.

your replies didn’t help whatsoever arn but i’m happy you’re taking steps to eliminate this in the future. a very long, tedious attempt but it’s still there i guess.

There was a recent thread about an Apple TV+ show that was chock-full of white supremacist and anti-gay and anti-trans comments. To their credit, the mods wiped all of them out. Hopefully they will keep moving in that direction, but I agree they have a ways to go.

by borderline i mean clear insinuations - with replies, likes, etc.

i didn’t go searching for that subforum, i was reading the news article before being distracted by the disgusting replies to it.
