wait for the updates to come. You feel screwed if you buy one now and one month later there is an update.

yeah i know - i read the buying guide of this website - im just speculating about the possibilities of an aluminum casing :D but thanks for the advice :apple:

and haha you're right - i would soooo feel skrewd if i bought one now and then they released an update :p

PS: Oh - and is there any possibility of them upgrading the max ram from 4GB to maybe 6GB or higher? (i'm assuming that the MBP will be boosted to 8GB) and will this mean that they will add Vista 64 bit support to the macbook?? (i use windows to play casual games) - and i DO know that the macbook is not for games -- but i play really light games (they work on my single core celeron toshiba w/ 64MB of graphics memory and about 768MB RAM.) so im very sure the macbook is sufficient for me - and it will easily take all my schoolwork on the 250GB HD (more than enough for me)

I have the XPS M1330 and love it, but might consider the MBP in the future

as long as I get VMware Fusion and Microsoft SQL Server will work on it and Apple starts shipping Solid State Drives like in my Dell XPS M1330! If so, I am there. I also like the little MAC Mini.

another question: do the current MB LCD's have LED Backlighting?? or not??
cuz the XPS M1330 has LED BAcklit screen and it's REALLY nice, bright and vivid

but i still think that i am rooted to the MB - just waiting for the new update to come out - and ill also buy the iPod Touch revision/refresh update that is supposed to match the 3G - along w/ my new macbook, i'll be ready to travel :D

but they DO have bright screens right?? - i know they have glossy screens that are very vivid.

yeah they are bright enough lol, just using a high brightness runs the battery faster

thanks lol - the only reason that i asked is because my current crappy toshiba has a horrible screen and i dont want that to happen again

i can really save $150 if i buy ram of 3rd party??? WOW thanks for the tip!!!

Dell aren't always the best value when it comes to upgrades either. I'm not sure they're as bad as Apple but if you're a student I'm guessing that every penny saved is a help!

colors

maybe the new macbooks will will finally be COLORED!!! not very likely but it could happen. i mean they did it with iPods. what would be even better is if it didnt cost more!! oooo im gettin chills thinking about the new ones!!

??? MWUHAHAHA......

What were you thinking? I can see the ad already: New Macbook's In the same awesome colors as the Eee Pc, Get A Mac... NOW!!!

yeah, i saw apple's education discounts -- it lowers the price on the macbooks as well doesnt it?? - and im probly going to buy next year cuz that's when ill be needing it - when my decrepit windows machine dies and goes to the netherworld... (i would use the other 4 letter word but im sure its not allowd on this forum) :)

and yes, i do plan to get the educational discount - and maybe by next year they will release the second generation of the iPod Touch. :D

The educational discount applies to just about everything.

lol im in the same situation as you are except im choosing between the M1530 and the macbook. I tried customizing the M1530 to the mbp spec and found out that it costs like 500$ cheaper lol. the reason y i really want to have the m1530 is because i want to play dmc4 on it... my current windows computer is obsolete. One of the few reasons of why i want the m1530 is because i want to play high intensive graphic games on a laptop other wise i'll go with the macbook.
