The Black looks like any laptop. Even a..... ..... Dell.
The White looks like an Apple.
Nuff said.

Tough question. At one hand, the White is what makes Apple Iconic. It is the apple color.
The Black is more like a fake limited edition.
Also almost all laptops in the history of the world. Lenovo's Thinkpad destroyed black laptops credibility. They are all black and look the same. With a white Imac you instantly recognize that its apple.
If you have your black macbook in the sun it will get much hotter.

On the other hand, the White Imac gets more quickly "ravaged" by abuse and use over time. like with clothing and cars that are white, it will also show on the white MB.
Also the Black Macbook will look smaller and seem more thin, which will make it more impressive. It will also feel better to look at, due to its pleasing black color. a good frame, can add to a picture. so while watching movies or something having the black borders around the screen will be a plus.
Also, black fits in everywhere.
Only some White things are timeless. Like Crockett's suits(miami vice!)

conclusion? I dont know... pray for a pink macbook? which would suit your lifestyle and your home better? are you a dark or a light person?

Black.

It just looks better. For those of you who say they look like pc laptops... well.. most pc laptops look better than the white one too imo.

Never liked white electronics... They don't match anything. If the black was cheaper and the white was more expensive I would still get teh black and just max it out.

But if your rich get some blue **** at colorwarepc.com

White. My nearly 3 year old white iBook looks as good the day I got it.

As long as you are careful, and clean it regularly, there will be no problems.

Plus, use the saved $$$ to get Applecare.

BLACK ALL THE WAY!!!
I have had mine for a little over 5 months and, as long as you don't mind the occasional cleaning (once a month it that) black is definitively a winner. most of my friends went with the white and now really wish they had sprung for the black, their computers are all scratched and discolored.

good luck,

Ok, I will be purchasing a Macbook Soon, but I have a problem. I can't decide between White or Black!! So I am letting YOU vote. I will keep count of the number of votes for each. And which ever wins I will buy (If I do make up my mind then this is over...) and I WILL post pics!

Vote now!

Do your own thinking and make up your own mind!

errrrrr well I do like my Black MacBook--))) ;)

I own neither, but I'd definitely go with Black.

I remember my sister getting a white iBook in 2001 and 2002. Back then they were so "hip" because everyone was either using a Thinkpad or a Charcoal Grey Dell.

Now, laptops look much more sleek and white MacBooks look like toys. The only time when they look OK is in a picture.

I recall going to the Apple store a couple of weeks ago pondering if I wanted to buy a MacBook Pro or a black MacBook. At the store, everyone was fixed around the black MacBooks and the White ones were unoccupied, and it was easy to see why. They looked cool and different then, but now they look like the "old" Apple.

I'm an elitist prick, so I like people to notice that I'm using an Apple computer. One concern in this thread is that black MacBooks look like Dells, because Dell has recently started putting white Apple logos on the front of their laptops.

It's obvious to see that they're Mac, and they really look like the new Apple, aluminum and black -- which really look much more sleek than White MacBooks.

The fact that you're even asking us tells me that you have the money to spend for either. Personally, when making a $1300 purchase a hundred or two dollars is something to consider, especially since you'll be using it for years.

People say you're only paying for the color, but you're paying for an extra 90GB of space and better material. Cracks or fingerprints. Oh, wait. The new Penryn MacBooks came with new material which made them more resistant to fingerprints!

In the end, only you can make the choice. I can afford a white MacBook now, but I'm saving for a black one. :)

hey, don't mean to hijack your thread or anything but I am in the same position.

I personally want the white macbook for the apple "cool factor" and actually love white in general. However, I am really concerned about the discoloration on whitebooks. Like EW! So many ppl at my uni have the white ones and they are all dirty and yellowy. Is this still a concern for the newer mac models? Also I am thinking of getting an external monitor and keyboard so that could save me from some dirtyness as I can type on a keyboard rather than use the macbook at all times. Let me know what you guys think/know about any discoloration in new whitebooks!

Again sorry if this is hijacking your thread but don't wanna start a new one on a similar topic!

Thanks

PS You should make it a poll.
Yes, a simple poll would be much better.

At one hand, the White is what makes Apple Iconic. It is the apple color.
The Black is more like a fake limited edition.
At one time, black was Apple's iconic color for laptops. They were cool back then, and the blackbook is cool now.

Nothing wrong with a white one.

I vote --> Blackbook

If you don't mind paying the same amount for an older model.
The Merom/Santa Rosa blackbooks with 2.2GHz C2D and 160GB HDD are $50 more than the white MacBook he linked to and you get a larger hard drive for your money ($1049):

Black is for PC
I disagree. The blackbook with the backlit white apple logo on the lid is better looking than any Windows laptop I've ever seen or used (and I've been through most of them over the years).
