I've read that this issue is commonly caused by Spotify and I haven't had any problems after idling my computer with Spotify off.

I have this problem, as does my girlfriend (both late 2013 rMBP). We both have creative cloud installed.

Hi All,

Exact same issue on my MBPr 15''. The 10.9.5 update did not solve it indeed.

No Adobe Creative Cloud Manager installed, and removing Spotify didn't make it any better either.

I have OSX Yosemite beta 3 installed on a MacBook Air and haven't noticed any issue on that machine so far, neither had I had it when Mavericks was installed.

Cheers,
Paolo

So i updated to Yosemite )))
Same thing ((((

Black screen and cursor and need to wait about 20 sec.

Haven't seen this issue in a while, even on Mavericks. Upgraded to Yosemite like 3 days ago, haven't seen it yet at all there. Doesn't mean it's gone though.

Black Screen w Cursor

Purchased a brand new mac pro 13 inch retina just last week. I'm having this exact same issue. My computer (I've only seen this on battery power though) will automatically go to sleep and on wake up (doesn't occur every time) I have a black screen for a couple seconds but the cursor is responsive. I'm going to try calling Apple to see if they have any new information on the issue. Very strange. I would expect better when spending $1500 for a new computer.

Nothing will help, dont spend you time calling. My friend changed 3 MBP and still have same issue. Apple care will not help you. They will tell to make a clean install, reset ram, and finally you can change you macbook for mew one. But it will have same issue.

Same issue with Air

I've had the exact same problem (black screen with white cursor), with a 2014 Macbook Air, though it only happens when it goes to sleep from the timer, not when I put it to sleep manually. It's been into the repair shop twice and then was replaced. Even with a brand new machine, the issue still occurs.

The only Adoble product I installed was the download required to use Pandora. Are you saying I need to uninstall even that?

I can confirm it's a Creative Cloud issue. Doesn't happen when I close ADOBE CEF HELPER service. As soon as I reopen the bug reappears.

I posted earlier in this thread that I was experiencing this problem. It seems that with Yosemite, the issue has resolved itself. My rMBP can go to sleep in both battery mode and power supply mode, and if I touch the keypad or trackpad, it immediately wakes and takes me to my password login screen.

This and scrolling properly in the Mac App Store were two of my biggest pet peeves/bugs with my new laptop. Glad to see both resolved in Yosemite.

Same issue

I've got the same issue and have had it since the very first day I got my beautiful machine - I absolutely love it to bits otherwise.

No creative cloud installed but Spotify is always running all of the time. Yosemite 10.8.1.

same issue with a 2-week old late2013 15" rMBP w/dGPU

no Spotify
i have Lightroom 5.7 (no Adobe CC)

Did you try repairing permissions? I had a long waiting for wake up on my Mac Mini and repairing permissions solved the issue. System logs can tell further details.

I am positive that it's not a CC/Adobe issue because I always have either have the LR/PS or the Cloud app itself running when I force lock (control shift power) or let the computer lock itself after a certain amount of time.
I think you should look into this:
System Preferences --> Security & Privacy --> General --> Require password " " after sleep or screen saver begins. [mine is set to immediately]
Also, there was another thread about an identical issue; where some of us provided/experimented with other suggestions.
Hope this helps,
Best.

I'm also experiencing this issue on my 1 week old 2014 Macbook Air on 10.9.4. I have Spotify installed but I don't think that's it.

Anyone ever solve this problem?

I'm on 10.9.5, Late 2013 Retina MBP.

After receiving NO help from pc world (the guy patronized me in to a frustrated rage so I left) and no help from Apple I managed to 'solve' it by uninstalling Spotify.

Not ideal, but at least there's the web player.

Adobe CC doesn't seem to make any difference to me, which is what someone else suggested.

Since uninstalling Spotify I've (touch wood) not had it again.

It's interesting (I've not been back to this thread for a while) that there are a number of people that are experiencing this, and yet there's no 'official' recognition. It's not solved, as far as I'm concerned, because it means I can't use this computer for what it's designed. But true to form it's probably a 'but you're using it wrong' response as per usual.

Spoke too soon, just happened again. This time I got a notification during the 30sec blackout which showed on top; which I couldn't click.

Does anyone else have any idea as to what on earth this is?!?
