I think Apple won't make it yet becasue they're confused of how to do it.. IMO...

the crap berry sucks.. it's got a keyboard!

Congrats on not knowing what the Storm is, or even clicking the link in the OP

The thing I love the most about the Blackberry is its iPod... oh wait.

Yup, I sync my Curve with iTunes; playlists, cover art and all. Oh wait.. have you not ever used one, and don't know what you're talking about?

I never cared about copy/paste on a phone until I ditched my iPhones and got a Blackberry and actually had it available. I use it fairly frequently.

Instead of bashing RIM, maybe we should state the obvious. If a blackberry has a feature that works well, and iPhone users want it, it's mere existence on a BB will raise far more flags at apple than us complaining alone. Sure, BB's have had copy/paste forever, but not on a "iPhone like" multi-touch device. This will def help us all out in the long run.

Does it do Smart Playlists properly? Do you sync with your Mac?

I've been using/supporting BlackBerrys since 2004. Cut 'n paste is nice. Personally, I've probably used it less than 10x in the last 4 years, and 90% of that was from grabbing a phone# of out of email and updating my address book, something the iPhone overall does much easier. Def wouldn't mind having the feature on the iPhone, but it's nowhere near being a deal breaker for me. To each their own. :)

I don't have any smart playlists to test with currently. Yes, I sync on my Mac (with Fusion ;) )

Don't get me wrong, I loved my iPhone, but this does the things I need a lot better, without the compromises or excuses. And the Storm is going to pick up the slack. But as you said, to each his own.

I don't understand two things:

1- Why people come to a forum about Apple products to talk about Blackberrys

2- Why people can't understand that the iPhone's #1 feature is the fact that it is an iPod with a phone, or vice versa, however you'd like to look at it. Yeah it's got the awesome internet, touch screen and all that jazz, but it is still an iPod (#1 selling mp3 player) and phone (With one of the largest cell phone carriers) in one product.

If you think there are better mp3 players out there, be my guest and go get a Zune, and carry it and your phone instead of having an iPhone.

Hell, if you're so inclined to own the BB Storm, which isn't even out yet, buy that too, and go spend money on a nice fat memory card and load it with 5 millions songs, and copy/paste your little hearts away, no one cares.

Oh and by the by, I'm over copy/paste, it's just keeping everyone from complaining about something else. If Apple implemented it, everyone would just move on to "I want MMS soooo bad, every other phone can do it!"

Thanks, but no thanks, I'll take my Internet/iPod/phone all-in-one and not lose sleep over the fact that I can't copy/paste (I don't know what everyone is copy/pasting anyway) or no MMS (I'm not 15).

Enjoy your Storm, it looks like a hell of a phone.

Personally I think Apple has completed developing copy/paste functionality. They probably have some other nice additions up their sleeve too.

They are just waiting until RIM/Verizon officially announce the Storm, then they will drop the bomb.

It's like the Tortoise and the Hare, where the Hare is always in front but he likes to pause and let the Tortoise get close, then he takes off again.

I thought the tortoise always beat the hare, because the hare pisses around too much.

+1

I'm with you...phones are seriously starting to become what defines a person in many people's minds. I've never seen so many "yeah, well MY phone can do THIS" threads before. Who gives a flying ****? So many people don't get that some people have different needs and different wants, or just generally don't care that much. People bashed the Macbook Air cause it wasn't a powerful expandable laptop, but that's exactly what it wasn't supposed to be, and filled a need for a lot of people.

Luckily I just enjoy my phone for what it is. And if someone next to me is bragging about how great their phone is cause they can video themselves watching TV over their A2DP headset while cutting and pasting a link into an MMS, I'll just pat their head and reassure them that they are indeed cool.

I just wish Apple would put Copy and Paste on the iPhone already?

No, not because I would use it.

I can count how many times I have wanted to use copy and paste on my iPhone with one hand post Hannibal snack time.

The reason I want it on the iPhone is because then Blackberry fan boys would have NOTHING TO SAY.

In what aspect?

Ease of use? iTunes makes everything unnecessary and complicated. Other mp3 players with simple drag and drop win.

Sound quality? Like previously mentioned, the iPods in general have terrible sound quality. Other mp3 players such as: Cowon, iRiver, Toshiba, Samsung kill the iPods in the sound category.

Design? Yes, I'll have to give it up to Apple. Their iPod's have always been sexy in design.

you can drag and drop with the iPhone. the iPhone's integration with iTunes is so simple my 5 year old cousin and 90 year old grandfather can do it. same with iTunes. i'm sorry it's been difficult for you... ;)

and as far as sound quality goes, if you have a nice lossless file, an iPod sounds pretty damn good. if you're looking for the highest fidelity, than a portable player isn't really what you should be using.

so true. MMS maybe but without a word processor i dont see the need for copy/ paste

No, I've been using the same exact songs with the same exact bitrate.

I originally came from Creative / Samsung mp3 players and when I put the same exact songs onto my iPhone, the first thing I noticed was how bad the sound quality was.

Don't get me wrong, the iPhone is fantastic. The sound quality however, leaves a lot to be desired.

Well said. People are SO emotional about these things. Best thing to do is let them feel that they made the best choice.

No phone does everything yet. One day we won't have to choose between no copy/paste or an outdated UI. But right now we do. With every smartphone choice, you have to give up something. I really enjoy my iPhone, and I know that I made the right choice. I'm still very curious about the Bold though, and I'm sure once I try it there will be things about it that I wish I had. But looking at the big picture, I already know that the iPhone is the better choice for my needs.

I could have used copy/paste about 100 times today as I had to type a couple of URLs...the same two URLs....over and over in an app settings pane. On every other phone I could have typed them once into a notes app and copy/pasted somewhere else but oh no, not the Judas Phone. Someone needs to convince Dear Leader that he invented copy/paste. Then we'll see it.

Wouldn't work. They'd still be talking at least about MMS, video camera and tethering.

:)

Vodafone Storm ad

Yup.

A bunch of other crap no one needs.

MMS? Never used it when I had phones that were capable of it.

Video Camera? I have a very expensive digital one, why would I want to use one on a phone with limited capability?

I will yield on the tethering, because a lot of people like it.

But honestly, of all the features being talked about, the one thing I DO use is WIFI.

Sorry, but Storm will not have it.

Agreed. Before the iPhone, I had a Creative Zen Micro for music, a digital camera for photos, a free flip phone for calls, and a smart phone for e-mail, etc. The effect of all this? I didn't want to carry it all so I would typically end up with just the free flip phone. Even with all those devices I can still do more on the iPhone. The iPhone is not best of breed for the individual pieces, but the sum is much more than the parts. IMHO it is the first hydra device that works. The way for the others to compete is to pick one feature and make it an order of magnitude better.

No one? Really? We must alert the media

You meant features that YOU don't need, for whatever reason. That's fine. Don't use them. It's allowed. But clearly others do want some, and they're allowed to feel that way as well.

Wait.

Why are you rolling your eyes at my statement, and then making a statement that has NOTHING to do with my statement?

I said no one NEEDS MMS or a Video Camera.

You roll your eyes and come back with "But clearly others do WANT some."

I never said people don't want these things. People whine about these two things daily on this forum so I know people want them. That much is obvious. (Of course, if you want them so bad, WTF are you doing with an iPhone? But that is another subject for another day.)

But my point is, if someone truly NEEDED MMS or a Video Camera, they would either buy a video camera or a phone that has those features.

But I would love for someone, anyone, to prove to me that they NEED those two things IN THEIR PHONE.
