You mean the one you are buying for your ex-girlfriend? (or did you decide to keep it for yourself?)

Btw, I always preferred the blackbook over the whitebook due to it having a single, consistent color. The whitebooks are more of a two tone with the keyboard topcase being this ugly, off-white/light-gray color.

But I always think when you see a white one, you straight away think that it's an apple and it's cool. But when you see a black one, you will pause and wait...oh ya that's a blackbook...hmm..from apple...

something like that...for those not familiar with apple laptops, it's more probable that they won't know that blackbook exist... i used to think that way

For me either. But I always thinking how my ex will feel when she uses it. Black vs White. Ah.. Probably she doesn't mind.

But seriously.... Its the cherry on the pudding that matters to most and that is Mac OS X.......

Things are obviously different for us Apple doodlers who need to have the latest and greatest Apple hardware!

I'm still getting things done with my Core Duo MacBook Black. Other than cracks in the casing which were replaced, I have had zero problems. I LOVE it.

I'll probably upgrade it with a MacBook Pro in 2009 but I'm sure I'll keep it around for traveling or a trip to the bookstore. It's been too good to me so I can't/won't sell it.

What do you guys think? Is the BlackBook sexier than the GlassBook? I think so.

I like pandas, but I don't think I need Macs that look like pandas ;)

For that matter even the 9400M integrated is no where close to even OK for gaming!

Accept it these things evolve and the games evolve even faster! While Doom 3 is an old game to run well on the new 9400M, AoM is an even older game to run well on the old X3100......

There's just no cost effective way to play games on laptops! If you are a serious gamer, you would have built your own desktop to fit the latest & greatest that Nvidia or ATI pumps out every few months. Buying a laptop to play games just doesn't make that much sense -- sure you could get something like an Alienware, but it's huge, heavy and doesn't have much battery life, quite the opposite of portable productivity. Besides, Apple only makes laptop with a very limited choice in configurations, and none catered to the serious gaming crowd. [MacBook Pro you say? Still no proper SLI.]

That said, I love my BlackBook. It's small and light enough. OS X is great for productivity and I'm happy to be able to put in a game or two when I have time. :)

Games I play? Mainly FPS. The X3100 is OK for handling games of around 2005-vintage -- I can run Freelancer (2003) and Fahrenheit (2005) under CrossOver Games pretty decently. Older games work even better -- oldskool Unreal Tournament (1999 & PowerPC!) and No One Lives Forever (2000). Oh and surprise me be, Tomb Raider Anniversary(2008) runs OK with low graphical settings too.

I own a Win Gaming machine which I assembled myself. Its e6750 (waiting on Nehalem) and 2x8800GT SLi, 22" Viewsonic. After this believe me not even my older MBP satisfy me! Forget the new MB! SO conclusion: Playing a game at 640x480 with wimpy blocky graphics is NOT, repeat NOT gaming!

Ta Da....

so you guy's agree wit me then huh? my blackbook is still sexy. and i find it sexier than the alu macbook.. although i like the backlit keyboard though..
blackbook forever!! as long as it wont die on me id be sad..

btw i aint no fanboy i just love my blackbook.. yay:):apple::)

I'm very happy with my Blackbook. But I'm going to buy a new Macbook and give the Blackbook to my wife (who will probably give it more abuse than I do, unfortunately). I'd go for the new MBP for better quality (and Firewire), but the 13" size is pretty important to me.

If Apple were to give me a BlackBook with an LED display like the Air's, the 9400M graphics, and a backlit keyboard, I think I would be dead and in laptop heaven.

"The screens on these new MBs are just big piece of crap junk!"
Another "valid" observation, by someone who doesn't have one, probably hasn't seen one, and never will, crap junk, I think not. You experts kill me:rolleyes:

To be fair- the screens on the MacBooks have always been a huge problem for me. I still don't like the screen on my BlackBook- the glossy is awful. Fortunately, my pro set up is at home in the form of a tower. I only need the BlackBook for portability and limited design stuff.

The biggest tragedy of the new line is the MBP. That screen is truly dreadful. I can't believe what Apple did to that laptop. I went and saw that thing and almost cried. I'm sorry, but they have no right to put a "pro" label on a laptop that is only available with a glossy screen (and a bad one at that). That is a huge misstep- one that I think they will pay for dearly.

I sold my Blackbook to get the crapbook (new alu macbook 2.4) and returned the new Macbook alu for the Macbook Pro. The screen is second rate on the new alu Macbook. The Blackbook was better in my opinion. Definitely not worse. I got caught up in the drama and sold my Blackbook and bought the new one on emotion and didn't use my brain. Anyways I love the Pro.

I still miss my Blackbook. It was really good to me and I had no problems with it. Great laptop and awesome looking.

I also didn't like the aluminum Macbook, probably due to price and lack of firewire port. The old Macbooks are still the best portable, dollar for dollar in the Mac world.
