Blackra1n is out!!!! (for Windows)

i had this problem with my iPod touch 8gb (that is not supported by blackra1n)😡, after messing with it all night my ipod wasn't being responsive no dfu, no recovery it wouldn't do nothing, come to find out something erased my drivers, so i had to do a system restore. After the resore my drivers were there and everything was fine.
 
Wow, seems lots of people are having problems. This has been the easiest jailbreak I've ever done. If it helps, here's my step by step-

1. I was on stock 3.1 & updated to 3.1.2.
2. Booted into Win7 on my Mac
3. Downloaded blackra1n
4. Made it compatible with XP
5. Plugged iPhone in
6. Ran blackra1n
7. Installed Cydia & Rock

I obviously wasn't on a previously jailbroken iPhone. As someone alluded to in an earlier post, perhaps there are files etc from old jb's that are messing with blackra1n's process.

I didn't kill any iTunes processes. I didn't really do anything except plug my phone in and click the make it rain button.

So far, everything I use when jailbroken is working fine. My most important- Backgrounder, SBSettings, LockInfo, and Kirikae are working great.

How do i put it in DFU from Recovery? Sleep+home for 10 sec+home for 5 sec?

And how do i find out if my drivers were somehow deleted!?

If your computer doesnt recognize your ipod or iphone then the drivers arent there. 99% of the time when you plug your device in it will auto install them.
 
Does SBSettings work on a G3 iPod Touch? (If only parts of it work, what does and what doesn't?)
I get Cydia "Unable To Load"

Edit: FEEEWWWHH! Got it back!

Any ideas on what i should do different to make the jailbreak work!?
 
OKAY here's my dilemma, hoping someone can help me with....


I'm on Vista 32bit, just restored my 32g 3GS to 3.2.1 and set up as new iPhone...switched blackra1n compatibility mode to XP service pack 2.....blackra1n just puts my phone into recovery mode and never comes out of it...just the 'waiting for phone'

I've tried putting my setting within blackra1n through properties to admin and even right clicking and selecting run as admin...all with no luck...

I've even tried uninstalling iTunes after the restore and running blackra1n...no avail.


Please any help?

As far i as i know blackra1n doesn't support 3.2.1 J/K. Keep trying

I'm running Vista, 3.1.2 on a new JB'd 3G S. I followed the instructions listed on page 5, yet I'm still on the "Waiting for phone..." screen with the default iTunes and USB logo on my phone. iTunes still recognizes my phone, just as recovery mode.

P.S: I am running blackra1n compatible with Windows XP SP2 (Yes SP2, I don't see an option for SP3) and running it as admin.

  • iPhone 3G, 3.01, jailbroken
  • Windows7 Ultimate (32 bit), blackra1n which I installed on the Desktop, right clicked said run as XP-SP3

Procedure
  1. Connected iPhone to laptop
  2. Started iTunes manually
  3. Right clicked the iPhone, Backed up the phone
  4. Updated to 3.1.2
  5. Stopped iTunes
  6. Started blackra1n
  7. It finished.

On iPhone
  1. Started blackra1n
  2. Installed Cydia
  3. Installed all my Cydia apps except MyWi, which doesn't work.

I did not have to restore my iPhone, all the App Store apps were there after I updated to 3.1.2.

I did the exact same thing...WORKS PERFECTLY!!!

I think many problems are coming form either NOT running the most recent iTunes or users are NOT upgrading their already jailbroken iPhones to 3.1.2 because they fear they are going to loose something. PEOPLE...U MUST have the most recent iTunes and YOU MUST UPGRADE YOUR iPHONE to the PURE unedited 3.1.2....THEN and ONLY then use Blackra1n. This is NOT hard and foolproof if you follow the instructions.

You do NOT need DFU mode, You do NOT need to RESTORE. If you do restore then do it the same as you would any normal restore and Blackra1n will still work. Do NOT restore your Jailbroke Apps from appback up or similiar. Restore all of your Jailbroke apps fresh and test each one before installing the next because some WILL NOT work.

Someone asked about SBsettins and BossPaper...They BOTH work without error IF you install FRESH.

well I found most apps usless from Cydia

so JB pretty worthless at the moment backgrounder categories, SBsettings even CyDelete etc all need updates so if you haven't updated yet you might wait abit longer or if you are 3.0 and JB stay with it. 😉

Have the most recent iTunes, have 3.1.2 OS.... Having the restore screen problem. Nothing works. This jailbreak doesn't appear ready for prime time.

I am waiting for PT for 3.1.2 (want to keep my baseband)

Also,no disrespect to GeoHot, but DevTeam would never release a tool with this many issues.

Also, if the Cydia apps need updates, I don't need to get in the middle of that.

I have loads of patience.

That's great and all, but for someone reason even though I have SP3, I don't see the option to select it when I'm running Vista 32bit PC

Any help would be great guys, thanks!
 
This jailbreak tool works awesomly for somereason for 3GS, but for 3g's it seems like everyones having problems! Gonna wait it out till theres a valid solution or an update out!
