iPod touch Blackra1n untethered?

ummmm well i have a jailbroken iphone 3gs on 3.1.2 on blackra1n but i wanted to try to run spirit u know the new geohot jailbreak on my phone to see if i could get an untethered jailbreak but idk if it will work and im scared of messing up soo if u know what im talking about plzz reply

Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS.

spirit is better

when using blackra1n on ipod 2g its untethered but on 3g it is tethered. however, with spirit it is not and it i believe is quicker. it doesn't have nearly as many errors and it even has a nicer loading screen.

For all of you that haven't been able to jail-break yet. Try "Spirit." It supports ALL current iPhones/iPod Touch's, and also supports all 3.x firmware. (even 3.1.3). Best of all, it's NOT tethered. So you can reboot without re-jail-breaking.

i know what u mean.cause i also jb my 3gs 3.1.2 on blackrain and i hope someone will try out spirit but waited too long so today i tried out.restore and upgrade to 3.1.3 and jb using spirit and it works fine till now.Spirit is better than blackrain.no more worry battery flat and power off problem.

iPhone 3.1.2 GS jailbreak with blackra1n - How to run spirit and maintain contacts?

Hi,
I was hoping someone could provide confirmation that my understanding is correct.

I have a JB (blackra1n) iPhone 3.1.2 and would like to update to spirit.

From above threads, its clear that I need to restore.

The questions I have are:
1. IF i restore, will itunes give me the provision to restore to 3.1.2 OR will I need to source this 3.1.2 firmware elsewhere?

2. Will I be able to just use the backup to restore all my contacts/apps (apps downloaded by itunes) OR will the restore mean I lose the backup (contacts & apps) in itunes?

Basically, all I want to do is maintain 3.1.2, use spirit (untethered JB) and ensure I keep all my contacts.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
