Well, I did it.

I grabbed a 10 core, 64GB, Vega 64, 2TB iMac Pro on Sunday that was $700.00 off from B&H. As of Monday morning, it has shipped.

Now the question is... I am a trackpad guy (and fussy as most apple fans are :( ) and none of the Discounted models included the Trackpad. How can I get a space grey track pad from apple????? (I am not in the mood to spend huge $$$$ on an ebay one)

Anyone need a slightly used Mac Pro 6,1 12 core, 64 GB, 1TB? :)

Check this thread. I am not sure if this is just for the US, or for all of North America.

I would love to try a trashcan pro mac, but with the older TB2, and lack of upgrades, I would need a very significant discount to upgrade to that model from my starting to fail 2011 iMac.

I do have the feeling that at some point these will become sought out by collectors like the G4 cube mac is today, so if you can't sell it now for the price you want I would at least keep it around until it becomes rare.

Assuming you grabbed the AppleInsider deal, most of those came with both the trackpad and mouse. Are you sure?

You can get a Vega 64 from B&H without waiting for a month?

Yes. However be advised you cannot return any computer (Mac or otherwise) purchased from B&H.

I just checked their website, one can get the Vega 64 the next day. They are selling at a similar rate with educational discount. Granted, Micro Center $3999 price tag is unbeatable.

Many years ago, I remember you can return unsatisfied goods to B&H, is that no longer the policy?

What happened if the iMac Pro is defective, where do you return it to?

The iMac pro blows the trashcan pro out of the water in every benchmark, its not even an option anymore at almost any price.

You can return a camera or lens but not a computer. My documentary team has returned $3,000 lenses if they did not meet our optical testing standards, and B&H was supportive (with no restocking fee).

For computers (including the iMac Pro) they don't accept returns. There are various scenarios. The product could be totally non-functional and DOA. Or it could technically function but not meet your requirements when testing it. Or you could simply not like it or change your mind. To my knowledge, B&H does not distinguish between these. Their policy (in fine print) is no returns, no matter what scenario.

They might make an exception in a few limited cases but charge a 15% restocking fee, plus of course you'd have to pay fully ensured shipping. For a 10-core iMac Pro that equates to about $1500.

This is a dilemma for professionals needing to purchase an iMac Pro. Since Apple cannot get a 10-core Vega 64 iMac in their store -- even for serious evaluation -- your only choice is to purchase it. This means you should consider carefully the return policy (including fine print) of whatever retailer you choose. In general I'd suggest buying from Apple not B&H or Adorama or any other company which does not allow returns for Mac computers.

I did it too on Sunday, got the same config as you but with 128GB, got a discount from Apple for about $900, mine shows up Friday.

I thought about the trackpad but I am most likely using a Wacom instead and have no issues buying the silver one.

WOW, that is good to know.

After some vigorous testing, for my personal need, I am certain at this time I do not need the Vega 64, Vega 56 serves all my needs, even though I love to have it.

To be clear, they do not accept returns on opened computers. If you do not open the computer, you are eligible for returns for up to 30 days.

I think you can just call up AppleCare or chat with them online and request a SVC Magic Trackpad for iMac Pro. price might be a bit more but I think thats been a good method, you just need to have a iMac pro serial#

Yes and that is the reason why I purchase high ticket items on an American Express charge card. There have been a few times where I bought something and the store refused to take it back - one call to Amex and they credited my account just like that. Love their customer service.

Wow, no returns. Will never buy from them.

It works in other parts of the world too. I have got them to ship the space grey accessories to me in Hong Kong.

Yes exactly. You just need a serial#. :D

Similarly, I got the base model at $500 off from B&H, arrived the other day... didn't realize their no returns if opened policy, but I'm loving the damn thing anyway... my very first Mac, aww. Now wondering about a trackpad, and setting up dual monitors (need cable is all, I think)... wish I hadn't stuck with Windows for so long.

So, after a few days use, here is what it think...

Super fast, the screen is beautiful. Very quiet !

Speakers are quite bass heavy.

Using a regular track pad sticks out like a sore thumb. I ordered a space grey one from apple and it included overnight delivery.

It feels good, feels very normal to use. I don't notice how fast, quiet, and refined it is until I fall back to a regular Mac. in other words, a typical apple product.

Now I need a matching 5k monitor so I can get back to 2 screens!

I tried to get a space gray trackpad via the method shown here, but they could only refer me to sales... evidently the space gray model is still playing hard to get.
