DP= dual processor.Check in system profiler what you have
If you really have a dual you shouldn't need to upgrade.
But I guess that even if you try it won't update

Maybe I'll try to grab a legit copy elsewhere, now I believe that my friend's copy was downloaded illegally.

Right now, what should I use to remove the rust on the power button/superdrive EMI shields, as well as the white substance on the CPU heatsink?

I wonder what kind of chemicals can cause such cometic damage (May become structural or hardware damage soon if I ignore it)?

I don't think structural damage will result to the computer, since it doesn't look like the case materials are being corroded. I'm not sure what sort of chemicals were in contact with the computer, so the appropriate type of cleaning solution might vary, but usually isopropyl alcohol will do a good job of removing most contaminants from the metals.

And btw, that doesn't really look like damage from chemicals, it's looks more like corrosion from storage in a humid room, which is pretty common with older computers.

I also fired up some (stupid) facebook games, candy crush and farmville works works like a charm.

Minecraft(1.5.2) works fine with fast graphics and short render distance, it would be more playable with a 7800 GS upgrade. It's a shame that Mojang is dropping Java 5(And thus PPC) support in 1.6 :(

It's amazing for a 10 years old desktop to do all of the above flawlessly, my P4 desktop even struggles with playing youtube videos properly at 320P

Finally, a to-do list for myself:
Get an air deflector
Get a pair of intake fans(The included one seems to be dying)
Dust out the entire machine
