Why do this? Macs are NOT for gamers, and this game is far from casual.

Waste of time and money, in my opinion.

I'm no expert on graphics, but I believe this has everything to do with software incompatibilities and nothing to do with hardware limitations. And I'm sure there's a market for it, but it might be too costly to properly port it for it to be worthwhile since they went with DirectX11.

I just want Halo on the Mac like in the olden days.
And Age of Empires II! I guess MSFT has realized that they stand to lose market share if they keep porting games to Mac. The Mac user base is definitely significant enough to make money off of games, as others have shown in the past when there were fewer users.

It feels like Apple are letting OpenGL get old to push people to use Metal.
Metal is no doubt more suited to their sytsem but often developers don't have the resources to completely rewrite to work on Metal so they either skip macOS or use the dated OpenGL and it turns out a bit average. So that's a shame.

But honestly, overwatch is best on PS4 (or Xbox). You don't get idiots typing abusive messages to you :)

I know you mean in-game, but I actually still get a decent amount of messages from people who have tilted on PSN:) I think they use the PSN Messages smartphone app, or they are just that determined in messaging me. But some have even been positive!

You get idiots screaming abusive messages at you over the voice chat instead. ;)

Though I guess you can just turn that off, but then how're you going to coordinate with your team?

How in the world is Overwatch not casual? It's a typical Blizzard game, meaning it's easy to learn, but hard to master. So yeah, it definitely can be a casual game. I play it once or twice every two weeks and it's fun.

You don't have to be a "gamer" to play on occasion. Even Macs with integrated graphics are capable of playing this game...

Only thing that's a waste of time here is your comment.

But... There are quite a lot of "non-casual" games for the Mac, and I'm quite certain those exist for a reason. I like to play games sometimes and I still prefer MacOS over the other operating systems out there. I have Windows 10 too, but would prefer not having to restart and maintain a second OS mainly for gaming.

Edit:
I see some other replies has come in. I started typing my post and got interrupted for a couple of hours. Anyway...

Still salty about that one.

Yeah, that one hurts. Halo is what helped jump start the Xbox. If Apple had locked it down, gaming on the Mac might have been more prolific today. But that would also mean that Apple would have cared, and they never really have until iOS. If they just put in a little effort I think things would be much better for gamers on the Mac.

By the way, I love your signature. I might have to copy it, as I get called out by moderators when I tell people I'm ignoring them. This seems like a good compromise!

Well that's true, is nice when you get a positive one. Also I think the pc version has a system that lets you report people who are being super jerks.

It does, and it's super nice. Even if it doesn't actually accomplish anything, I always feel better after I report somebody who's been making a match super frustrating or unpleasant.:D

It's funny because it is true. I keep having to pardon people to make room for new ones within the 1000 user blocking limit.

You truly are a blocking master. I didn't even know there was a limit! Sometimes I wish there was an auto blocking feature I could enable. It would be crowd sourced—if enough people block someone, then they would be auto blocked for me as well.

I believe console will be getting something similar soon, which should be nice. I play with a six stack regularly so leavers aren't so much a hassle any more, but man back in season 3 I had some truly toxic comments from people on PS4. Enough to convince me to just play QP for most of the season.

:D This is why I'm so terrible as Ana!
I main Lucio, though, and it's always fun when the Genji starts spamming for heals while I'm standing right next to him.

"Dude. I'm doing everything I can here. Let me crank my volume so I can't hear you over my tunes."

I especially love when DPS sometimes forget that supports have cooldowns too. Like I barely play Lucio, but I've legitimately had people yell at me to heal faster lol.

And I main Ana but jumping Genjis are just the worst no matter how many hours I put in.

Yeah, Genji is super hard to heal as Ana because you never know when they're going to double-jump or climb something.

I've been running practice drills with a friend who plays Genji and it's so fun/helpful. I do the same with Pharah, who I picked up this season and also love :)

I really ought to pick up a DPS hero and practice with them. I basically stick to supports and the support-like defense and tank heroes. I used to be pretty good with Pharah, but that was like a year ago at release.
