I feel like its time to drop that model out of the lineup and just go with the 12" MacBook (wishful thinking), 13/15 MBA, 14/16 MBP. That sounds like a sensible lineup.
It rarely ever feels a sensible lineup...

Just as they near it... they will release something akin to the butterfly keyboard!

Next year I predict VisionPro to be required in Apple Stores to browse their product lineup... because they won't physically fit them all in the stores :/

Okay so they are going to get wild about the Mac as a gaming platform. So a 1100 dollar AppleTV+ with M3 and a 1300 dollar MacBook and 1600 iMac mini.

In the meantime what about the bigger iMac or shall I just buy a Samsung M8 monitor and hook up the 15" m2 MBA? Done with waiting, they could have triggered me into refreshing a bigger M1 iMac would they have produced one.

Magic Mouse 3 - with USB C

With the plug on the bottom...

I agree it's wishful think since it's likely a very niche product with a form factor that would require a lot of compromises. An 12 inch screen is around a 10.5x6 size with a 3x2 aspect ratio. The would result in a very small keyboard that would be hard o touch type on, and not have much, if any space for a trackpad. They could make a large bezel to get a better keyboard/trackpad layout but then it quickly gets close to the existing 13" form factor. A small MB just doesn't make business sense.

It's time for them to position it where it belongs: as an option for those who want a fan and ports without the extra power, just like it used to be.

Except it has the same number ports as the Air and no MagSafe...

Not happening, there are already enough Macbook Pro (M2 Pro/Max), Mac Studio (M2 Max/Ultra) and Mac Pro (M2 Ultra) options out there already competing against each other. This would also potentially cannibalize Studio Display sales.

While the initial iMac Pro was a favourite of many, it was a commercial failure.

I could see a M2 Pro option for the iMac, like the Mini, and that would be the 'scary' speed bump the iMac gets.

Can anyone explain why he mentions 14-16 Pro? M2 Pro and M2 Max came out this year. They are less than a year old. MacBook Pro comes out twice a year now? M4Pro/Max and M5Pro/Max in 2024?

From what I understand, the 13” MBP is still quite popular with the corporate crowd, and is the second most popular Mac overall after the MB Air.

And with this rumor, there would be no most popular Macs getting updated but only some less popular ones... immediately casting the most popular Macs as "old technology" and "likely to get upgraded soon"... WHILE in the most lucrative quarter of the year where most of the money is made. If I'm an interested buyer, anything else M3 next week encourages me to WAIT on the purchase of the Mac I want... because now I know it is obviously coming.

The "maximize revenue" part of my imagination is not computing the more popular possibilities for next week. I'm still not convinced it's going to be M3, even if "Scary Fast" words strongly imply the next leap. iMac update with M2 and M2 PRO would be "scary fast" compared to the M1 version nearly a thousand days old now. I can already imagine speed comparison charts between the new and the old... or even against the last Intel-based "little" iMac too.

And a M2 PRO & MAX iMac "bigger" PRO would fit both "fast" vs. the last iMac "bigger" available (2020 Intels) or the 5-6 year old former iMac Pro. As to "scary", the relative pricing on a PRO-branded iMac "bigger" should cover that word... even more so if the screen goes bigger than 27" and/or is improved over the ASD screen already priced at about $2K with any stand option.

I'll hope with all for M3s next week but it sure seems difficult to logically see it if the most popular-selling Macs are left behind. Apple will need to believe the ones that go M3 will offer a surge in Mac sales to make up for those who want what will still be M2 Macs but defer until those go M3 too. It was barely making sense when this 13" MBpro WAS rumored to go M3 too.

Because the M2 Max/Pro machines were delayed into 2023. They were intended to be released last October. This event will be centered around the 14 and the 16 with the M3 Max/Pro.

In Vpro, an Apple store can become bigger than football stadiums, even if it is physically a Mall kiosk and/or a full Apple Store- any of them- can come to you, even sitting in a cramped airplane seat at 37K feet.

Obviously, at this point, wait & see what is revealed in a few days. But if the hypothetical $1100 AppleTV+ + $1300 MB + $1600 Mac Mini is seen as "expensive," you might want to brace yourself for an iMac "Bigger", probably branded PRO and priced more like the previous iMac branded Pro... which was priced a LOT higher than the iMac 27" pricing everyone fondly recalls.

Maybe the iPhone 15 sales are disappointing and Apple needs to generate revenue fast before the year end. Hence why the sudden increase in price of Apple services and rushing the 14" and 16" MBP update.

If the iPhone 15 was selling like crazy, TSMC would not have had capacity to mass produce the 3nm M3 Pro and M3 Max chips.

However, this is just speculation on my side.

Mac Pro models are pretty much sold out everywhere btw. No instore pick up available..ships after 11/9.

...implying what? M3 Ultra is also about to hit?

In various rumors, we've now basically put all 4 tiers of M3 arriving next week when not less than 10 days ago, there were "no new Macs" and "no Apple events" for the rest of the year.

I think M3 Ultra next week is about as likely as M2 Extreme (Dual Ultras)... and if I was betting on the two, I'd bet on that M2 Extreme for a debut.

UNLESS... we want to imagine Mac Pro Junior built around M2/M3 MAX chips... basically Mac Studio with a slot or two.
