I will not buy another iPhone with a lightning port. Apple needs to either go USB-C or portless. Personally, I lean toward portless so long as it includes a WiFi capability that provides reliable data speeds in excess of 1 gigabit.
No snark here, but there probably will be an adapter to use for the transition, until Apple releases the AirPods/other accessory products with USB-C.But airpods will still have lightning cause Apple loves fragmentation now.
Its been fine on my iPad Pro and has the core benefit of lightening over USB-A.I’m curious how iPad users have liked or disliked type-C as a physical connector (ignoring speeds, features, etc.).
Some comment they don’t like the physical connector.
How have iPad users held up? Would you want to go back to Lightning?
This should have happened years ago. And it should happen because USB-C is fundamentally better than lightning — more reliable, faster charging, interoperable. It shouldn’t require, or be based upon, government regulation to get this done.

If the AirPods Pro 2 have usb-c it’s game over. Please, Apple.Cool. Upgrading next year. Hopefully the keyboard trackpad and AirPods switch too.
USB-C ports would allow for faster charging speeds and quicker data transfers, plus it would bring the iPhone in line with the Mac and iPad models that already use USB-C.
Or it’s EU pushing Apple to do it. Can’t win with any government.bet you Apple has been testing this for years already ... time to release!
So can you specifically back up your claim why lightning is ‘less likely’ to have issues with the ports versus USB-C? That doesn’t make much sense to me.USB-C is faster. But not more reliable. Lightning is less likely to have issues with the ports
So you upgrade again when iPhone 15 is equipped with USB-C. Do not forget, it isn’t because of technical issues, rather more marketing wise.Suppose they do switch this year. Most iPads use USB-C currently, why do they still need iPhone 14 to retain a lightning port? Just make it happen!
There was at one time. It came out before USB-C and was the smallest and fastest port on the market. But the tech has moved on.Lightning is a bad port. It's unreliable. There is no reason for it to exist.
I have been using lightning for years and never had a problem. I like USB c but the central tongue is a terrible fragile design. Absolutely hate it and was completely unnecessary.Lightning is a bad port. It's unreliable. There is no reason for it to exist.

We could see WiGig 802.11ay wireless, with near Thunderbolt 3 speeds over wireless, but only line-of-sight range. If USB C becomes reality, my guess is we'll see it go [exclusively] to the Pro models but with Thunderbolt 4, and the non-Pro models will go port-less/fully wireless.
Meanwhile, I'm still holding a candle for UWB.
USB-C is just a connector type. You can run as low as USB 2.0 or as fast as Thunderbolt 4 with it, and now it can also carry DisplayPort 2.0 too.USB-C is faster. But not more reliable. Lightning is less likely to have issues with the ports
And Beats Fit have USB-C.....But airpods will still have lightning cause Apple loves fragmentation now.
