Apple’s smart home product strategy seems very confused to me. They can’t sell single products like the HomePod so they’re going to try a multifunction product to copy Facebook Portal, Amazon and Google.
This is a rumor no need to get upset now, maybe wait till apple announces a product and you have a chance to use it before you go crazy

Good. Puts me one step closer to becoming Iron Man...
Apple released an AirPod pro firmware update. Recent reports suggest some users had been receiving unintentional lobotomies when the AirPods braking jets fired too late, jetting exhaust through the cochlea and into the brain.

If you have experienced this issue, please call AppleCare at 1-800-SOS-APPL.

What the ****? Who would in their right mind pay (probably) extra for an ipad which is not portable? MacRumors found some unreleased April 1 news or what?

They didn’t say it couldn’t be portable…

Apple doesn’t do moving parts.

I think someone at Apple is feeding Gurman fake rumors for lols. I just hope the report about the redesigned MacBook Pros is still true.

robotic arm is 2020. should be a drone that takes off drone camera on autopilot.

Actually I think I saw some patent or plan or mockup on that from Amazon or someone else.

Wide-angle camera lenses can get to a near enough 180degree FOV... why would it need to be on a robotic arm? If the product was designed in a way that had more than one of those cameras on an opposite axis, no need for a robotic arm.

Ludicrous.
If you're wanting it to track you then sure. But if you want the device to move itself so that YOU can see the screen from any direction then no.... that solution wouldn't work.

Future HomePod May Feature iPad Connected Via Robotic Arm to Track Users Around The Room During FaceTime Calls

Proceeds to display a mock-up of a love child between the HomePod mini and a beats pill. Then photoshops a skewed iPad screen over it. With no moveable parts or robotic arms anywhere to be seen. 😂

I agree with the former but as to the latter, I'm afraid the onset is here. Social credit scores here we come.
I’m so glad social media / public internet didn’t exist when I was a teenager. Surely I would’ve been canceled at least 20 times before I hit 18 due to all the stupid things I did as a kid.

Before you know it, it will be able to walk around too. Then, a sex robot is not too far away.

Forget about robot arm. Why not attach an iPad to a drone and have it follow you around with FaceTime. You can even control it using Siri 😂

The concept is pretty sound, and you can already see the problem they are trying to solve with it.

One thing missing from FaceTime is a really good "living room" / "family room" experience. That means, a wide angle camera that sees as much as possible, and one that can track movement so that as people move, they remain in frame. Combine with that a really good Mic system and speaker system (both of HomePod has). And, a large and clear display for the remote parties.

Such a device would be nice to have and would quickly replace all use of FaceTime on iPad in our home.
