If this mini iPad is ISO 7736 compliant (double DIN 180 x 100 mm panel or 7.086" x 3.93") it will put many car radio manufacturers out of business.
The US standard for a Double DIN sized radio is a 4" x 7" so lets hope for something really close to that.
It would fit perfectly in your car. Someone would make a snap on adapter gizmo and we'd be able to take it with us in the car, remove it when we got to our destination.
Expect I'm not sure it would catch on with anyone who bought a decent car in the past 5 years, ( not cheapo eco boxes ). Tend to already come with really good navigation/sound/some even have internet and all of that built in.
It really is simple, other companies are already starting to release pint sized tablets, Apple will want a piece of that market. Money in the bank. So they will.
I just want every naysayer and unbeliever to post a quote officially announcing that, on pain of having every Apple device in their possession confiscated, they will not buy any 7" Apple device that comes out this Fall, until exactly one year has passed from it's release date.
Really. Naysayers. Just do that one simple thing....
Uhm, hello...I just bought the new iPad on june/ 24/2012. today i came to know apple is planning to update its iPad cause of over heating-Problems and stuff. I seriously want to know if apple's gonna allow all the "New iPad users" to exchange with the updated iPad on october for free". Since it isn't fair for the people who bought the "The New iPad"

The mockup they're using is far better than using one that mimics the Nexus 7.
This smaller iPad, if true, will sell in massive numbers. In turn, as usual Apple will reap very good profits. If there's one thing that Apple truly excels in is pressuring the suppliers to give them the lowest possible price. Therefore Apple's in a position to enjoy their typically high margin, as they sell it for a premium price that only they can command.
Everyone wins. The consumer gets the device they desire, and Apple gets every last penny. Perfect.
