Total User Count is directly from the Bluesky API. Large bot accounts are excluded from statistics.
It's literally the most accurate count there can ever be, in real-time.
Why are you taking this so personally?
I'm not. I also didn't believe Twitter's nor X's self reported numbers. I'm an equal opportunity skeptic.
Given that X is suspending accounts based on "inauthentic behaviors", I'd say X will be on life support very soon. The suspensions aren't due to any bot type activity, but merely X's Ai being over zealous. There are 1000's of accounts affected. Having a blue tick won't save you either. X has become a bad joke run by a bad joke.
Self-reported in that it comes from the Bluesky API. I really doubt Bluesky is manipulating the API to make the number higher than it is. Of course, the number doesn't mean active users and can include "abandoned" accounts, multiple accounts created by one person, spam/bot accounts, etc.
I think you're inadvertently making my point for me.
BlueSky is excellent. Far better than when it started. X however? That app is drowning in sewerage. Now the Ai mod has gone crazy and is suspending 1000/s for no apparent reason. I don't miss the single digit IQ responses I got daily.
Your "point" is you don't believe anything that you don't agree with.

That's a positive. The average IQ is far higher than Twitter as well. Yeah, I mostly still call it Twitter. "X" is a stupid "name".

How so? I thought your "point" was that you didn't believe the number because it was self-reported i.e., Bluesky was in some way making it up. My "point" was that it came from the API and it is unlikely Bluesky would make up or falsify the number by manipulating the API.
As far as the rest of my comment, I assumed it was pretty obvious (which is why I started with "of course...") that the number could include "abandoned" accounts, multiple accounts created by one person, spam/bot accounts, etc.
I was just here reporting data. I am not trying to pick sides in the Bluesky vs. X vs. whatever debate that is going on.
Unfortunately, like too many other things, it can come down to politics, political ideology, etc. Many people want the platform (or its "leaders", who can be polarizing) that more represents their "views" to win and those platforms that represent the other side to "lose."
Since we're not in the "Political News" section of the forum, it's probably best not to expand on this any further.
1. How is it helping the bot problem? I'm not a bot. I was never a paid member. But many were and they still copped the "inauthentic behavior" suspension. How is that possible when they're literally confirmed as genuine accounts?
2. "Human data"? I'd hardly call the majority of the data relevant for any use. Besides, I never stated Musk would shut it down. I stated it would be on life support. When you have an out of control Ai algorithm shutting down 1000's of PAYING legitimate accounts, sooner or later it's going to get ugly.
It's kind of ironic that an Ai bot is targeting human accounts rather than bot accounts.
1. Majority of the suspensions yielded decrease in overall bots. Your own link says it suspends "Unauthorized automation". If you were suspended, you were violating one of the rules
2. X.ai already exceeds Claude's Fable/Open AI's Sol with Grok 4.6. X.ai was many years behind OpenAI and now they've caught up. It helps to have a treasure trove of human data. You said "will be on life support very soon." which suggests it might be dead soon.
