Bluetooth is improved on iPod touch (1st gen) as well

Posting this here since it seems a relevant place to pass on an interesting new discovery:

The iPod Touch 3.0 software improves bluetooth support on the 1st gen iPod touch as well -- even though the 1st gen doesn't even have BT built in!

I have a pair of iMuffs external BT headphones. They connect to the Touch with a little BT adaptor. It used to be that when I used the external controller (on the headphones) to pause/play, the Touch would quit the current app, and switch to the Music player. This was a little bit annoying, since then I'd have to manually go back to the current app (Safari, e.g.).

But no more! On the 3.0 software, pause/play just affect the music, but don't switch the current app... exactly as they should.

For the Touch to see anything, the other devices have to be in Pairing mode. It also apparently doesn't work with or see mono-bluetooth phone earpieces. I was hoping since most stereo bluetooth headsets have a mic in them for phone pairing that the mic would work with the voice recorder. No such luck though.

I really am starting to get disappointed with the Bluetooth support now... Really there's limited support for bluetooth devices. I want all Bluetooth stuff to work with my iPod it's irritating. Also i cant figure out how to set a password for my iPods Bluetooth. And my computer doesn't recognize my iPod.

Hey are you able to use Skype on the iPod touch 1st gen with the bluetooth headset and transmitter? I am wanting to get a motorola transmitter and the MOTORKER headset to use with skype since using the headphones can be a little annoying. And do I need to get 3.0 software for that matter? I already use VOIP with skype and my IvoiceIII, but I want to go cordless! Thanks for your time!

bluetooth sync

is it possible to sync itunes and my ipod touch over bluetooth? i thought that was the whole idea and the reason i brought OS 3.0
if it is doable can some please tell me how?

Before I buy the update, has anyone been able to tether to a cell phone for internet? I have an EDGE GoPhone with a 100MB data plan and I would love to just keep that phone in my pocket and use the Touch as a psudo iPhone.

Sorry if this was covered, I searched "tether" and this is the 10th topic I came across without a straight answer.

My ipodtouch 2G does not seem to work with my Motorola S9 but it does work with my iPhone 3G. :apple:

Also my iPhone 3G cannot communicate by bluetooth with my ipodtouch 2G. :apple::mad:

You can't. I've managed to pair my iPod touch 2G with my phone, but it doesn't let me try to do anything once I've paired it.
