Im saying we should treat these horrible crimes a little different, everyone deserves a fair trial but if there is no question of guilt, a history of crime do everyone a favor including the one doing the act by getting rid of them. death by injection is way to good for this guy... Its time to change how murderers like this are treated.

I think the best thing for someone like this is to simply put him in a room with no windows, no roommate, a toilet, and a bed. Lock him in and throw away the key. No books, no TV, no 1 hour of daylight, no interaction with anyone except the hatch on his door that opens 3 times a day to bring him food.

Let him rot in a cell while thinking about his crime.

This is horrible.:(

Yeah, but I'll bet that if the authorities took up a collection they'd have a lot better luck raising money for the former rather than the latter.

My prayer is that some day in the not too distant future there will be a public out cry to stop this situation from occurring. This could have all been easily prevented. I hope that those that are responsible will realize what they have done.

we have to remember the system is a system onto itself, it wants to grow and expand and consume more and more dollars. this is basic Government. thats why its so hard to get a control on these guys because they want to build prisons, have psychiatrists try to figure out these loons, lots of paperwork the lawyers love that, then let em out so they can do it again and build more systems or leave them in jail for life again building more systems. Its past time to start giving these bastards what they dish out. cases like this they should have swift justice and a cheap swift execution but that doesnt help build prisons or more lawyers does it.

I agree with parts of what you say. But "swift justice" can only mean one thing... more mistakes being made than in the past. And plenty of mistakes have been made in the past. I hate the fact that to be as fair as possible they allow endless appeals and spend tax money imprisoning people. But I hate more the idea that we'd say, "OK, we'll kill 100 more innocent people and imprison 100,000 more innocent people, but it will be worth it to quickly get rid of the real scumbags". That has to be the trade-off as far as I can see. And it isn't a trade-off I like.

I wonder if any good would come of studying people like this with a goal of trying to prevent this kind of behavior in others. Maybe we could keep him as a guinea pig. It sure would be nice to find a way to prevent this kind of thing instead of having to lose kids to these predators.

well great it looks like this Predator was supposed to be in jail but he wasnt and now a little girl is gone, again and again the revolving door policy of the so called justice system lets these scumbags back on the street. they say the jails are overcrowded . If they eliminated these murderers they would have more room. Iam saying only when there is no doubt at all 100% guilty not even the question of guilt do society a favor and make fertilizer out of these bums.

yeah this repeat offender will be in Jail and we get to pay for this clown for years and we get to pay for his appeals etc...This is why they should get a speedy death when there is evidence beyond any doubt. Bring back torture! this girls life has been taken and he didnt even know her! her family is devasted and this Killer gets to live out his life in jail thanks to the american tax payer! Im glad Florida has the death penalty but the problem is it will be years and years before he gets it and we get the tab. Torture these bastards and maybe they will think twice before doing these kinds of things.

Public hangings... using good ol' rope.
None of these Club Fed treatments until they finally exhaust all of their appeals.
Fireants and molasses.

I agree.

Throw him in a room with no windows, no roommate. Make the room be 84 inches long, 28 inches wide, and 23 inches high. Put the room 6 feet underground too.

Another sad thing is that if she had screamed for help when he abducted her she would probably still be alive and he would be in prison for attempted kidnapping.

But everytime you turn around, you are urged by the police authorities to obey the carjacker/burglar/robber/rapist. They say to not fight and resist, and it will turn out better.

Fat lot passivity did for this young girl.

I would be against the death penalty even if the person is caught in the act. The killer doesn't deserve to live out his life. I can understand those feelings. But I know I could not sit on a jury and feel it is my place to kill someone else. If he's locked up the rest of his life, his interaction with society will be as if he is dead anyway.

How about sitting on a jury and if found guilty, letting the victim's family decide what to do with the scumbag?

Sorry, but there's no other way to go about it--you better be damn sure that you got the right person AND you better be damn sure it's the right punishment.

It'd be a tad embarassing to develop technology a few years down the line that would exonerate the person you executed.

You mean DNA matching?

Or do you mean time travel to the scene of the crime?

If someone I knew was a victim, I'm sure I would want to see the killer dead. I hope society would not put me in a position to satisy those urges, and let someone not ruled by their own pain to make such a irrevocable decision.

Remember ... child killers/rapists ALWAYS get what's coming to them IN jail. Other inmates will kill this guy for sure.

Wow, I don't know who is more sick... someone who kills.. or someone who thinks like this. First off, regardless of all evidence, according to the constitution, this guy is innocent until proven guilty. And how do we as a country, and as a society, go around preaching about how wrong it is to kill, and then go on and do the same thing ourselves. It really blows my mind. Total hipocracy, please don't condone something and then turn around and do the same thing. This is very ignorant and hypocratic. The fact that someone would mention torture, and state that "lethal injection," aka killing someone, is not GOOD enough.

You've really stated no facts or basis on why you think we as a country should kill someone for doing the same thing except for the fact it will cost you, the taxpayer, money. Pretty sad thats the first thing that comes to mind when talking about human lives. I guess thats how America is run. Although this is the only fact you have stated (aside from your sick lynch mob mentality opinions), it is not correct.

"A New York study estimated the cost of an execution at three times that of life imprisonment.
In Florida, each execution costs the state $3.2 million, compared to $600,000 for life imprisonment.
Studies in California, Kansas, Maryland, and North Carolina all have concluded that capital punishment is far more expensive than keeping someone in prison for life."

Look I know you are upset, as am I and just about everyone I know. But killing is not the answer. It wasn't for whoever killed the poor little girl, and it isn't for the person who killed her. It's not going to bring her back, and it's just another wasted life and grieving family.

3.2 million, yeah i know the lawyers love it they do have paper to push. and so does the system it has to grow. a 50 cent bullet could save us all a lot of money and time but that is so cruel in a utopian world huh vwcruisin?after countless time, appeals, lawyers and everything to go with it know wonder the average cost is 3.2 million. how many people could be fed with this wasted 3.2 million? how much healthcare could be provided? but instead we blow it on animals like this guy. on cut and dry cases there is no point keeping animals like him alive. the only reason it cost so much is because of the system we have built to protect these killers.

The question has to be asked - "What kind of person would do such a thing?". It's truly devastating - I was recently in Mexico City where I was watching the story unfold, praying for her safe and happy return to the ones who love her. Now, all I can picture is a sadistic photo of a confessed murderer, and a distraught mother pleading fruitlessly for her daughter to come home.

Unfortunately, it's parallelled with the recent case over in the UK of a School Janitor, who stood accused of murdering two young 10 year-old girls, and burning their bodies beyond recognition. His defense stated that they died accidentally, and he had to get rid of them because it would have been too suspicious to have TWO dead girls in his house...

Understandably, the jury found him guilty of murder - and his girlfriend guilty of perverting the course of justice (she gave a false alibi in order to save him). The evidence was just TOO compelling.

However, when it came to compensation for the families concerned, they each received just £6000. And although no amount of money could bring back their daughters, there was no consolation with the knowledge that the taxpayers' bill for each of the accuseds' defence lawyers came to over £250 000 EACH...

Where is the justice?!?

The system is set up this way to protect the wrongly accused. There are many cases that we KNOW of.. and who knows how many that we don't, of a state executing the WRONG person. Now, wheter you believe the death penalty is right or wrong, executing an INNOCENT person is MURDER by our government, the very thing we as a society are supposedly so opposed to.

How would you feel if a loved one of yours was on death row for a crime you KNOW they did not commit and some a** hole was going on about how money the tax payers could be save with a 50 cent bullet? If you think 3 million is bad, think about what could be done with the 100 billion dollars bush has wasted on his war. Talk about murder and a waste of lives. How many innocent civilians and soldiers were killed by bush's hand, based on a lie? If anyone should be put to death, it should be bush, he is a far greater threat to our society and well being than just about anyone on death row i can think of.

vwcruisn,

I think you just got added to the "no fly" list as a "terrorist" risk to our country. Watch out that the Secret Service doesn't come knocking at your door for threatning the Prez.

If that was going to happen, it's just too bad that it didn't happen prior to the abduction and murder of this lovely, innocent, young girl from FL.

Bottom line we need to find a way to prevent this. When will the human outcry cause politicians to act.

sounds like we are getting spin going from a killer to a war, stay focused vwcruisin. How about this why dont we send the bills of these killers to people like you. you do sound like you want to support this killer for the rest of his life in jail. Lets give you that million dollar bill. when there is 100% proven guilt what is the point keeping these guys alive? so you can squeeze the tax payer a little more? so you can build your bigger courts paper trails and prisons? sorry when someone does an act like this they forfit their life. make room in jail for others that you want to support. Im not talking about people who maybe innocent im talking about the ones that are 100% predator killers and we have all the evidence. The criminal justice system is a failure and we hear about it all the time. How many murders do you have to have before we do something? Im sure this person will be back on the street in about 20-30 years maybe he will be living near you.

I like the sentiment, but what exactly do you think the politicians should do? Most of the stuff in this thread is an expression of rage against the man accused of this crime, and as such is understandable as long as folks don't have a length of rope in their hands. I don't know if there is a cure for pedophiles and sadists like this, but maybe the answer lies in such research and longer prison sentences in the meantime - I don't know. What I do know is that some sober, cool headed thinking is needed not calls to string the guy up or bring back torture.

One other thing I know, this made me talk to my kids again about the dangers that are out there, and they are 17 and 14 years old - not 11 like this poor child.
