Apple should push the limit and have an iPad display that matched up with the MacBook Pro 16 inch. So, 16 inch iPad Pro, especially since they are now using the M1 chips in iPad Pro’s too. I agree though, iOS will need a massive overhaul to be more like macOS while not losing its easy simplicity.

Great news, goes well with the fact that Luxshare-ICT will be assembling iPhone SE (2023) and not Foxconn.

Goodbye, Wistron and Pegatron. How times have changed.

I have the 12.9” 2018 Pro and am hoping for a redesign this year. Please let there be a 15”! I just love larger screens. ?

I think the Taiwan problem will be solved during Xi’s term. It’s expected of him in China.

Why would a for-profit company meddle with politics?

Hong Kong is not a country, it’s a part of China. What do you expect.
As has been the case with many companies who do business in China, companies don't have to proactively seek to meddle in politics before they find themselves in the middle of politics. This has played out time and time again with many companies regardless of for-profit or non-profit status. Xi's term is pretty much dictated by him (no pun intended), but I still don't think we'll ever see China invade Taiwan; cross-strait relations have been basically about maintaining the status quo for years anyways. Lastly, I didn't say anything about Hong Kong being a country or its expectations; you did.

BOE will steal the technology. It's a shame that for all of its wokeness and human rights advocacy, Apple continues to do business with Chinese companies.
All their human rights advocacy are outright lies. It's a shame they're all in on the Chinese bandwagon. It's even more a shame that I need to use Apple products because the alternative sucks so much. I keep trying to make a list of companies to write off, and it's becoming increasingly more difficult because everyone supports the CCP. I'm not trying to turn this all political, it's just very disheartening. I've been trying desperately to go back to Windows, for instance, and my gosh it's awful. Going back to Mac ... it just feels like home. It's not stressful. There's no weirdness. There's no random driver issues. It's smooth and aesthetic and peaceful to work in and I can get actual work done instead of wondering if a Windows update is going to blue screen my computer. I keep back ups, but it's still annoying to have to restore to those back ups. I wish Apple was at least honest about how awful they're being behind the scenes. Such as dropping a bible app and an app that protesters in China were using to organize fights for democracy because the CCP asked them to. Or the fact that they moved all of their iCloud servers for their Chinese users to China so that the CCP has full control over their content. At least companies like Google are open about how much they suck. I don't like them hiding behind the thin veil of human rights because their actions speak an entirely different language. But it seems everything on the planet is made in China now. Except for Samsung phones ... which is surprising.

I would imagine a 15" iPad would be on the table only if Apple planned to expand iPad Pro capabilities. If the iPad Pro was somehow able top run richer pro-esque type apps , then yes it would be great. But if iPad OS remains stuck where it is now, then there is no point.
Richer pro-esque type apps like Affinity Designer / Photo?

That's interesting. I didn't even know that Bank of England is Apple supplier. Cool. ??

Agree with others. I'd rather see a 15" MBA than iPad. However, they would probably sell pretty well for people who regularly use the Pencil for their workflow and would love the bigger screen.

Please Apple don’t take too long bringing OLED to the Macs, it’s already taking forever while other makers have had it already for years now

I’m actually thinking of switching to a windows laptop for this reason, as much as I like the Mac and can’t stand windows
Quite on the contrary I really hope this won’t happen, now or in the future. To many drawbacks in OLED technology.

I don’t know, let’s see how it goes.

As much as these failing eyes would love a 15” iPad Pro, it would have to support pro apps (I use Logic Pro) or considering the likely $1500 or more price; it would be a hard pass. Also I am not a fan of OLED, as I have a history of migraines.

That HK Map was legit used to target law enforcement in Hong Kong.

For those who want to visualize what this would look like, I made this. The screen on the right is a 1:1 ratio with the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The second screen (left) is exactly 14.9 inches with the bezels remaining the same size. This would be the perfect drawing tablet for me.

I see iPad OS as Apple's version of a touch based Mac OS. Mac OS can never have a touch screen because there is a loud orthodox sect of devout Mac cultists who would scream bloody murder if the Mac gained a touch screen .
On my disdain for the consumer like uninspirational pre school looking crippled OS called iPad OS idly running on serious silicon, I opted for a MacBook Pro paired with a 16" pen display tablet and I can safely say that a pen used in Mac OS UI isn't a problem and quite enjoyable, if not better than the trackpad. I won't be upgrading my 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 any time soon if we don't have at least the option to boot into an OS that supports desktop class PRO apps.... If it had a 16" screen and Mac OS I'd happily drop £3k on it as a production tool alone. It would be a no brainer with the apple pencil as a pointing device with a few extra inches of desktop.
Ps. Consumers can still haply run their iPad with iPad OS, but it would be nice to have a real Pro option as a creative in the industry.

I'm not a fan of windows, but if Apple keep releasing incremental marketed meh as pro, then that surface laptop studio line up is looking more appealing each time...
