Bold, italics, ... disabled / greyed out

Unsure if this is a new or old issue, I honestly can't recall if it ever worked, but why is my formatting bar disabled? I cannot click on the B or I font options, nor anything else.

Why is that? Why is the bar even visible if it is not functional? Can it be re-enabled? I did not see anything in Account Preferences.

Sounds like BB code got turned off. Hit the vertical three dots icon toward the right of the toolbar, then the brackets to turn it back on. It should remember your preference.
