So far none of the reviews have been kind, is this just the cast and crew bailing for other projects or just a bad screenplay.
Does Craig not care about this movie tanking or would he like his bond legacy to go out on top?

If this is it for Mendes and Craig it will be at least 5 years before the next film. Would they pay them big money to create a better lasting film or will this one fester for a while.

Have you seen it yet? I'd be interested in what you think. :)

Saw Spectre yesterday. It was entertaining in a typical Bond suspension of disbelief way. This whole Mendes/Craig Bond run has seemed very dark and brooding to me. It really reminds me of the Batman franchise. When Batman hit the small screen in the 70's it was campy, silly, and fun. To counteract that feel the modern Batman of the big screen has focused on his dark and tormented nature... the dark part of "The Dark Knight". This Bond has felt almost identical to me. It's like they wanted to totally get away from the silly spy/playboy feel of the early franchise and in response have swung totally to a lost and tortured Bond who is driven by all of the loss in his life and constantly at odds with everyone, even his own organization.

All in all, it's not unlike other movie franchises in that a director/writer takes a shot at putting their stamp on the character. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the last of this run and who knows what the next iteration of Bond films will be like.

I saw this last week, really good movie. I need to watch it again to be sure, but I think I like Skyfall better.

My primary critique was that I disliked Waltz's Blofeld and his motivations towards Bond as in
everything I've done in my life is to destroy yours
. Apparantly someone thought this was a clever idea... -_-

Did anyone pick up on the 009 references? We may have seen the end of Bond for a long time.

I agree about the relationship between Blofeld and Bond, it seemed a bit contrived, but I liked the main plot it was quite topical and I could see the UK government being that stupid.

I don't get why some commentators preferred Skyfall the plot involved far too much deus technica, although I guess it was faster paced.

The new Bond film #24 will be SPECTRE
Due to be released late 2015

I didn't care that much for Skyfall, so I am hoping for better this time around
Skyfall felt like just another action movie with a guy with no facial expressions.
Spectre was a totally different experience. It felt like a Bond movie with Bond humor and Bond action.
Yeah, sure.. still a bit overkill, but I do not regret viewing this in the cinema. The third movie in the cinema I've seen in like 7 years.

As one reviewer said, they made Casino Royale too good, setting a high bar for this reboot. I'm not a big fan of Skyfall, but revenge was a good basis for a plot and I think it's better than SPECTRE. For myself, there was psychology and dashed expectations. I recognized the slide in SF, but was riveted by the name SPECTRE, based on it's prominence in the franchise, hoping for a bounce back, something brilliant, more mysterious, more evil than Quantum. But I saw nothing other than Blofeld's description that SPECTRE was the true power behind all that happened before.

We knew Quantum was the evil organization in the first two, and that Silver was on a mission of revenge. With nothing new, nor original, their biggest creative crime was squandering the SPECTRE name to sell tickets. What a frick'n waste! In my expert creative opinion ;), they should have used this film to vanquish Quantum (we're everywhere) for good, and saved SPECTRE for the launch of the next go. Of the four films, I'd rate the first two top notch, and then the slide, ending with a whimper.

Finally got round to seeing it this week. Like many others, not overly impressed.
I felt like I'd seen it all before and when you think of how many scenes seemed lifted straight out of another Bond film, it was more like a compilation film.
And I'm pretty sure that helicopter at the end was out of range of a pistol!
