When I saw the title of the post, I figured this would devolve into a bunch of rants and name calling against Bono. God forbid someone question anything Apple does.

Good to know I was right.

Not Apple, Jobs. People criticize the rest of Apple every day on this site.

I'll gladly take that challenge.

Bono is a steaming pile of pompous human excrement. He's an egotist, and the only reason he's attempting to get attention is because he's irrelevant to everyone.

U2 sucks as well, as most people can buy the first album and call it good. Perhaps if Bono wants to be relevant he and the rest of U2 should release an album that doesn't sound the same as every single previous album.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be willing to tell Bono where to stick his giant (RED) label.

Is that a satisfactory summary, or do I need to go on?

No, no even remotely. I was looking for something beyond pontificating name calling and this is more of the same.

WTF are you on? Are you blind? Do you not notice the hideous huge Apple Logo all over things?

I think he meant other logos. When you buy an Apple product, or most any product, the manufacturer's logo is expected and many will even showcase that proudly.

What you wouldn't expect is an Intel logo, an energy star logo, an AT&T logo, a Google logo, a DVD logo, a product (red) logo, etc. For example, my HTC has the HTC logo, a beats logo and an AT&T logo.

Apple users aren't accustomed to that because Apple has always been very protective of its brand; the 90's notwithstanding. At least, that's how I read it.

No kidding, right? I'm reading this and thinking over $70 million to date. Product RED is easily noted without some splattering of text.

WTF Bono? Although to be fair. Simply being in a room with Jonny has been known to invoke such rants. :apple:

Agree $70 million is not to be sniffed at. Remember this is the guy who left his fave trilby hat at home hence paid for the hat to be flown in its own first class aeroplane seat to get it out to him on tour, the same tour he preaches about poverty

This is what makes Bono an idiot:

"To date, Apple has raised approximately $70 million for (Product) RED, with 100 percent of that money going towards HIV/AIDS programs in Africa."

Stop the complaining, what other company is doing as much?

Also, the logo is meaningless, the color is e everything.

It would be interesting to see that $70 mill put in perspective? What did other company gave, how exactly was it used, what is the actual need.

lol. Bono acting like he cares about anything except himself. The music sucks, but it's earned him a lot of money and worldly things. Bono can talk when Bono donates all of it to charity.

Tell this guy to turn over some of the BILLIONS he made on the Facebook IPO to the cause instead of crying about the branding being on the inside, that would make far more than selling a few extra RED products for the organization and cause. Don't like it? Plenty of other products that don't have any RED association, go pester them.

As far as Apple, the second Steve died all of a sudden Apple turned into a charity and loves to stick their hands in everyone else's cookie jars. Stories like this should lend pause to what they are doing and give them a perfect reason to not to even give a mouse a cookie in the first place anymore, let alone the milk.

Are you, in fact, saying that War, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and Zooropa sound the same? I don't know how anyone with ears could agree with that statement.

UGLY LOGO brilliant cause but i would not want that crap logo on my apple products, i even kinda wish the apple logo wasn't there. We've come a long way since the days of massive logos for operators manufacturers and their dog emblazoned on the forehead of phones and mp3 players and laptops. Another logo that just needs to go away.

Just donate money to product red apple please don't put any branding on your shizzle any more ok, please make some red stuff though!

Why does it matter if people can see it's product RED? It shouldn't matter as long as they get their money from the product. That's the problem with a lot of organizations like this, they ask for money and once you give they want more. Be happy with what you get from the people and companies you get it from.

Er, come again?

My understanding of Red branding on the shuffle was that they charged you an extra $10

Looking at the apple store now, the red nano and red shuffle are both the same price as the other colors. So it sure looks like Apple is coughing up the donation out of their profits. Or am I missing something?

He should stuff his complaining mouth with all of the money that Apple has contributed. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you jeez
