So now we know; so just hold off on installing Mojave until a fix is available.

Apple might not know all the details (ie when the fix will be done) but it’s better for them to get the warning out immediately, then wait & figure out all the details first.

Well this means I need to invest in new hardware, though. Not something I planned simply to be able to update to the latest macOS...
Just to clarify, you suggest to put Mojave on an external SSD?

That would probably work, and be easier than putting Bootcamp on an external - but that works too. I have Bootcamp on an external Thunderbolt SSD on a 2014 5k iMac.

2012 13" MBP cannot install Mojave (most likely it has to convert to APFS) because of the bootcamp Partition.

Makes it look like a bug. Interesting - keep me/us posted!

The installation took about >5h. Today in the Morning it was ready. Mojave works and BootCamp Running Windows10 runs as well.
Try the disk Utility to fix any Problems. Good luck!

You had to delete the current bootcamp partition and put the backup of your windows back after installing a clean windows on Mojave’s Bootcamp?

Interesting, thanks for the update! I just don’t get why it won’t work on my machine. I used Disk Utility to check for errors - nothing. Did you do anything else before starting the Mojave installer?

What???

How does this make any sense? Is Apple really listing the 2012 iMac as supporting Mojave then?

This seems like a serious oversight.

It doesn't work on my late 2013 27" iMac, either. Something to do with the 3TB Fusion drives, possibly on all iMacs using BootCamp. Apple knew about this and released it anyway.

That’s exactly what I’m thinking now as well after more and more reports are coming in about this. Apple should update their website on this where they’re still stating it’s just got to do with the old 2012 iMac...
More than anything I’m hoping this could all be fixed with an update of some sort. What are the chances of that actually..?

No, but just a few weeks ago I started the recovery tool, deleted the whole Mac portion and reinstalled MacOS. Windows/BootCamp remained untouched. Sind I have everything in iCloud and finally a decent Internet download rate, this is something I like to do every once in a while.

I also have a timeMachine Backup but just if something is missing. I usually don't use it, for errors to be deleted by this process.

No, installing and reinstalling macOS does not affect BC. My BC positron is now running for years and I use to format the Mac Portion for smoother experience

But did you have a Boot Camp partition installed as well? I didn't even come to installing it as the installer wants the Boot Camp partition removed before installation even starts... :(

I am really pissed. I updated my 2012 iMac 3 TB Fusion with Mojave yesterday without any error or even a notification about the loss of the Bootcamp Partition and lost my Windows and all Data. I'm just wondering why I still can see my Partition. Cheers from Hamburg, Germany

Not that I don't have any PCs around, but Bootcamp is much more important to me. I am not going to sacrifice Bootcamp for this crooked OS update.

I have a late 2013 iMac with a 1TB spinner - should I be worried about Mojave messing with my Bootcamp partition? I really don't want to have to re-do it.

This is the exact same thing that happened to me on my 2013 iMac w/ 3TB fusion.

All of your data is still available on a DMG file inside your "BOOTCAMP_VOL" partition. No clue on getting Bootcamp back yet, if it's even possible. Ärgerlich.

Okay, so I’m now in the process of backing up my Win10 installation in order to be able to safely delete the partition. Question is, will I be able to create a Boot Camp partition after Mojave is installed on my machine..?

Should work on your configuration (as it works Fine for me). I think the conversion to APFS on the Mac Portion is the Main reason. Be prepared that it may Not work even without BC. Have you tried disk utility but while being from the recovery disk?

Seems only Germans have Problems upgrading

Actually not yet, no. I’ll try that before going all the way and deleting my BC partition for good. Thanks! (Not holding my breath, though as I got the green light from disk utility once before, but we’ll see how it goes...)

Upgrade went well for me.

Don‘t ask me why, but the recovery-disk-utility is somehow different (Apple Support says that). Good Luck.

Hello:

Curious as to what program (software) - procedure you are using to Back-Up your BootCamp (Windows 10) OS?

Thanks for your time,

Have a nice day / evening...

Even if I didn't read the fine printed information (wheresoever I had to look up for this important information) that 2012's iMac with 3TB fusion drives are not compatible with Mojave, I missed the error message in the upgrade process as here described. And how can we use the .dmg File ? I got an Outlook Installation with 1 Week received POP3 Mails in the Bootcamp Volume, which are deleted from the server at GMX. The first time that I waived the backup before Upgrading. Grrrrr. Really annoying

BTW: I tried to rescue the Bootcamp Vol, which is still shown in the finder with Twocows "Winclone 7" - Image is not available for restore to another drive. :(

I have that exact configuration. 3TB Fusion on a late 2012 iMac. And I use the Bootcamp partition for gaming. I tried installing a couple of betas, of course did not work. I asked on this very forum about it and no one even replied. It is a specific config so I understand but Apple not telling about that right from the beginning is a fail. Now it is officially out and I will never get to install Windows on it? At least give us a ballpark? Being forced to delete the Bootcamp is painful enough to begin with. I keep this machine mostly to play on Bootcamp but I want my Mojave too!!
[doublepost=1537829829][/doublepost]
For many of us Mac users, Bootcamp is only good for playing games. And VM and gaming don't go hand in hand

Isn’t it possible to partition the drive as FAT32 and let Windows change it NTSF and install in there?

Apple today shared a support document that will be of interest to customers who own a late 2012 27-inch iMac with a 3TB hard drive and are attempting to upgrade to the macOS Mojave update.

There is an issue on this iMac model that results in the following alert when attempting to install macOS Mojave: "Installation cannot proceed with Boot Camp configured."

imac_2013_color.jpg

To fix this problem, Apple says that customers with the 2012 27-inch iMac with 3TB hard drive will need to completely remove the Boot Camp partition using Boot Camp Assistant before macOS Mojave can be installed.

After upgrading to macOS Mojave, Boot Camp will not be able to be used to install Windows on these machines. No other iMac models appear to be affected by this issue.

[doublepost=1537931676][/doublepost]Boot Camp does not work also with MAC MINI late 2014 model. Wonder why Apple thought to remove this useful tool in MACC OS MOJAVE. Any workaround or Is Apple going to have an update?

I don't think so. I'll maybe try to split the fusion into two devices, as there will be a 128 GB's SSD for the OS then. Maybe it will work again this way. I don't want to open my device for a single SSD solution. Any thoughts about this Idea ?

Ich überlege mein Fusion aufzulösen,. Sollte eigentlich funktionieren.
