I wrote a whole thread about it, but here comes the shortcut.
First thing you need to do:
Either kill KBDMGR.EXE completely = Hassle free but no more special controls via F-Keys (brightness).
Or change CPU Affinity of KBDMGR.EXE to CPU1 (not 0!) = Alot less glitching (but not glitch-free) with F-Keys still functioning.
WLAN is one of the bigger culprits, but it's not the worst, so try the KBDMGR thing first and only then try WLAN.
If you are pushing your Macbook hard you may also want to deactivate the ACPI Compliant Battery device via Device Manager. It polls the current battery load level exactly every 15 seconds.
You can easily disable/enable all device via Device Manager without need for a restart.
Unfortunately the Nvidia graphic (driver) also leads to occassional dropouts, even more so with Aero turned on. The Nvidia 7800GT on my desktop doesn't do that, so I know it could be better.
For professional audio applications you may want to use the "Standard VGA Driver" instead, but for gaming that's no option (latest NVidia driver via hack wont help either).
With these simple tricks Ableton Live performs 20-30% better on Vista than on OS X (which leaves me quite disappointed of OS X, but maybe it's a Live specific problem).
