Hello all,

I found today that my Bootcamp partition seems to be gone. I have a MBP 2017 model with OSX 10.13.2 installed. I found the thread here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/bootcamp-partition-disappeared.1548215/ but when I try to run the commands suggested in the thread, Terminal first asked for my password, which I typed, then says "gpt show: unable to open device 'disk0': Operation not permitted". Do you know why this might be? I was hoping to run the command to get more data to post here, but I obviously cannot if the command doesn't work for me.

Simply starting over is not an option for me, as I had stupidly just recently deleted my backups in preparation of starting fresh and getting new backups made (just got the new laptop). Can't believe I made this mistake.

Bottom line, I'd like to try to restore my bootcamp partition with the data intact. At the very least, I want to do everything I can to hopefully get the data itself back if nothing else. Any options for me?

Thanks.

Interesting....I have the same machine and after literally 'days' of high-level Apple Tech support and restoring from Recovery followed by erasure of drive and clean restore we were not able to get bootcamp to set up the partition without it freezing etc. I eventually gave up and put Windows on an external SSD. I know this doesn't address your problem but if you are able to recover your data it may be something to consider. Hope all works out ok.

I do see the Windows option when booting, but when I click it, I get the screen below. IMG_0055.jpg

I also tried using EaseUS, but it didn't find much. Not sure if that is maybe due to the formatting confusion though of the partition.
