Good choice. I am returning BeatsX in favor of the Bose. I am on the fence on my Airpods. With Earhoox they stay on my ears but the sound is passable at best. Cool technology. Average sound. Hopefully Apple or others can license the W1 technology and produce a true wireless product with superb sound. FWIW, the Jabra Elite Sport sound better than the Airpods for a bit more money. They lack the battery life and ease of pairing however. Form factor is a tossup.

I also tried one of the first sets in June and wasn't impressed and returned them after a few weeks. I now have a new pair that was manufactured in November and I'm very impressed with the new build quality and sound.

How'd you find the manufactured date? I purchased the Bose SoundSport wireless at my local outlet store and want to make sure they're the revised earbuds.

I think it's safe to assume everything is the revised version by now.

Open up the Bose Connect App. Click on the Gear icon, then on Product Details and it will show you the Date of Manufacturing.

So, I couldn't help myself and as I was still in my 30 day trial for my SoundSport Wireless, I've arranged to return them whilst I get a chance to assess the new BeatsX which I should be able to pick-up on Tuesday....

....any thoughts on Bose SoundSport Wireless vs BeatsX ? (I couldn't figure out how to create a separate thread on this)

I got the BeatsX, used them for about half hour and concluded that the sound was just a little too flat for me, this was in a quiet indoor environment. The bass was pretty good but I think the Bose headphones are much better for the mid-range sounds. Overall much more balanced.

Also found the wingtips and earbuds far too fiddly to fit and use in comparison.

I'm sticking to my Bose Soundsport Wireless and returning the BeatsX.

I love the tech behind the Airpods and BeatsX, but I think the physical form let's them both down.

Can somebody exlain why the airpods are special? I still don't understand the "ease of pairing" thing. As soon as I turn them on my bose tell me they are paired to both my ipad and my iphone without me having to do a thing, what can be easier than that?

I'm also amazed how much talk there is about the beatsX, the wire for them seems so ridiculously long I'd rather just be tethered to my iphone.

Agree about the pairing thing, not particularly bothered about ease of pairing as it's pretty slick these days anyway. Airpods are really good for convenience though, given that they are truly wireless.

Should have mentioned myself, it did seem like the wire on the BeatsX was a little longer than my Bose ones.

Certainly a lot longer on the Beats X than my Bose QC 30, although obviously the neckband part is much slimmer as there's no NC circuitary to hide. It's all trade offs !

The Bose pairing works pretty well but not all BT headsets are as good as bose in this regard. For example, the Jabra elite sport only pairs to one device at a time which is a royal PIA if you want to switch between your iphone and apple watch for example. Apple's W1 chip is an impressive amplification to BT in that pairing across multiple devices is easy and they have improved battery life. I returned my airpods because the sound quality is average at best but I can see how some would prefer the airpods to the bose. I think the airpods are a nice product but as the poster above stated, it's all about tradeoffs. For me, the Bose are the best sounding BT earbuds on the market right now and I prioritize sound quality first with fit a close second.

I have the wired Bose Soundsport and every time I go to the gym and listen to music on them it's like a godsend. I use the wired EarPods on a daily because I always have them at my reach and the quality is so much different. Can't wait to get the soundsport. I was really contemplating it between that and the Beats X.

The soundsport wired were actually my earbuds I've used to workout in as well! I've been using them before I tried out PB3 and eventually going back to Bose SoundSport Wireless. The SoundSport Wireless is such a great head set, you'll love 'em if you loved the wired version.

Yeah. has the size of it bugged you at all? I am hoping it doesn't stick out too much.

Nope, size doesn't bother me at all. The earbuds may look bulky and it would seem that they would fall out of your ear. Surprisingly, they don't fall out at all/feel heavy. It may become loose every once in awhile but I just twist the earbuds back into place and I'm good to go.

On the flip side, its easy to take on and off so thats good.

Although I agree, with you as I have a few bose products as well and pairing every time is easy, however I think the biggest appeal is from the very first time you pair them they are found, instead of putting the device into "search" mode, but yeah not much of an appeal after that.

I think I spoke too soon.. my SoundSport wireless are starting to become loose and falling out when running. Other than that.. I like 'em.

Number ratings are a good idea. My rankings for the buds I've tested:

Sound Quality
Bose - 9/10
BeatsX - 8/10 *
Airpods - 8/10
Jaybird X3 - 8/10 **

*with the correct eartips for my ears (which don't match apparently). Getting the right tips for your ears is very important.

** using their app to adjust the EQ

Comfortable
BeatsX - 9/10
Bose - 8.5/10
Airpods - 6/10
Jaybird X3 - 4/10 (the earsplittingly loud voice prompts killed my ears)

Looks (assuming less noticeable is better)
Bose - 10/10
Airpods - 8/10
BeatsX - 6/10
Jaybird X3 - 7/10

Convenient/Easier to wear/Doesn't fall out easily

Bose - 9/10
BeatsX - 8.5/10
Airpods - 7/10 ***
Jaybird X3 - 7/10 (might've worked better with earwings)

***It seems like everyone rates Airpods very high for convenience, but I find that moment when I take a pod out of my ear to talk to someone and I'm sitting or standing there holding a pod trying to decide whether to sit it down or put it in my pocket or just stand there and hold onto it inconvenient.

Following suit for my opinion for what I own. (yes I am aware the X2's are a bit old and the X3's are more then likely better, but I put them in there anyway)

Sound Quality

- Beats X - 9/10
- Jaybird X2 - 7/10
- AirPods - 6/10

Comfortable
- Beats X - 10/10
- Jaybird X2 - 4/10
- AirPods - 8/10

Looks
- Beats X - 7/10
- Jaybird X2 - 8/10
- AirPods - 4/10

Convenient/Easier to wear

- Beats X - 9/10
- Jaybird X2 - 6/10
- AirPods - 10/10

Edit: haha just realized this was the soundsport forum, oh well...

Are the wireless Bose much worse than the Bose Free's?
The Bose wireless are on offer but I have heard the Bose's frees are much better to get if you can afford it

Are you still having issues with the fit of the Soundsport Wireless? I am very interested in the durability and fit of these long-term, since I have purchased a pair of these to compare with Beats X. Still undecided.

Do you have the problem with the bluetooth in one ear keeps dropping when running? I heard that was a big issue

I don't run anymore--too hard on my old knees. I have decided to keep the Beats X and return the Bose. The Soundsport Wireless feel nice and sound better than the Beats X but I have read far too many reviews noting their lack of durability.

So my SoundSports started delaminatibg, tgecrubber was peeling off the volume controls and the solid parts of the earbuds. I contacted Bose and hey sent me a free pair, all I had to do was send them my old ones first. They even let me swap colors to Black because I really didn’t like the blue ones. Bose is a great company and the quality is second to none. And when the quality is lacking they stand behind their products.
