Good to hear!..I just hope that the BRA doesn't bust their burgalls as far as design/esthetics go:
''And we know that any changes they propose for the exterior of the building including demolition will go through the proper review channels, including the Back Bay Architectural Commission."

Ahhh,Bahhhston politics at its finest :)

The location in Boston is great, right across the street from the Berklee College of Music... NOW, imagine if the boston store was 24/7... I can see some college students hitting up the apple store real late....come to think of it, not just Berklee, any of the 23873423874 schools in the Boston area would love this.

Well Especially Berklee, We use nothing but Macs at this place. It would indeed be heaven for all of us! No more hopping on the green line to cambridgeside galleria!

Well, New York is a 24 hour city and this store is in a huge tourist area near the Plaza Hotel, FAO Schwartz, Bergdorf Goodman and just over from the corner of Central Park. Sales during the day would be high but people are around that area at all hours.

I'm not saying I'd go at 4 in the morning but maybe 2am after a night out or when I get up around 6am (NOT after a night out! ;) ).

I wouldn't be surprised if 2 til 5 is a quiet period but if the rest of the time is so busy it's probably no big loss.

Exactly. I grew up in NYC, including the midtown area. Also, I've managed retail, and the cost of keeping a place open, as opposed to closed, is covered by a handful of sales. Anything after that is profit. 3 out 4 seasons of the year, tourists are out 'till all hours in that area. It's good business.

Man....I wish we could get a store here in Vancouver....

That would be great! There are a couple perfect locations downtown too, by Robson, etc. I'm heading out there this summer for 2-3 weeks to visit my brother, some friends, attend a wedding on the Island, etc. so it would be nice if Apple could put one up for us in the next 5 months. ;)

nice! I'll be able to get to the new boston store in lunch as i can never get the green line back in time.

I hope so, Shard!

My location description doesn't lie! It would only make sense for Apple to come here...

That area is very ritzy, clean, and heavily guarded with tons of surveilance 'round he clock..

... If you can ignore the smell of horse poop wafting from Central Park South, which is where all the carriages-for-rent are stationed.

There's a reason they call it the General Odors building. :D

Having an Apple Store open 24 hours would definitely give new meaning to the Genius Bar.

"Hi, I'd like a white 2 GB iPod nano, a copy of iLife 06, and a shot of tequila." :D

Otherwise, I can't see them doing any significant business late at night.
There has to be a ton of people working away throughout the night on the Macs in NYC, with all the ad agencies, editorial/film production, educational institutions, recording studios, night club DJs, etc. Would be a great resource to have when your RAID array dies at 2am and you have a deadline the next day, or you need to add a few Xserves for that distributed hurricane simulation. :) Hopefully this store will stock some high-end gear.

How come they didn't call the new MACchine with the dual core Intel the PowerBook Duo -- and make a doch with a funky VCR slot that you can stick it in ???

24 hours is just the beginning !

Hold your breath, soon it will be rumored that they will have a FREE limo shuttle from the air port !!

Then a top tech coffee bar, and Concierge service ??? That will be a piece of software mostly !!!

Can you say computer CLUB/can you say business CLUB...

... cubes for the best of us !!!!!!

No fair... some cities are getting multiple Apple stores (even relatively small metro areas) while mid-size U.S. cities such as Omaha and Pittsburgh still have yet to get one Apple store. What's the deal?

New York: Population: 8 million. Number of Apple Stores: 2. Population/store: 4 million.

Pittsburgh: Population: 333,000. Number of Apple Stores: 2. Population/store: 167,000.

New York would would need to build another 45 stores to catch up to Pittsburgh.

Omaha: Population: 400,000. Number of Apple Stores: 0. Population/store: does not compute!

There's a bit more to complain about in Omaha, but if one store was built there, then New York would need to build another 18 stores to catch up.

Throw in a real bar! LOL!

That's cool to know that you can go to an apple store anytime a day. I don't know that it would be very profitable but it would be interesting to see. I guess that it will be nice if genius bar is open 24-7.

Yeah, I agree other than the Genius Bar, what would you do there in the wee hours. One thing I would prob do myself is to try to make it a nice and hip hangout spot. Throw in a deli serving coffee, pastries, etc. Peeps can chill and hang out after the clubs! :) Think of it, the Apple store can become a cool nightspot!
