It is not live where I live yet, but the city I work in about 30 miles away has it. I will have to try it the next time I need to make a call while at work.

Oddly enough, the city I live in was one of the first ones lit up by both Verizon and AT&T for LTE, and neither have rolled out VoLTE here yet...

VZW went live nationwide for VoLTE. No regional restrictions like AT&T

The SIM card that I moved from my iPhone 5 to the 6 when I bought it doesn't have 27 or 28 in the ICCID. However, the SIM that *came with* the 6 (and is stuffed into my 5 for safe keeping!) does, so IT is compatible with VoLTE and the SIM I'm using now isn't.

Is there a way to transfer the line from one SIM card to another from AT&T's site? Or do I have to bring the phone to AT&T? I can't seem to find anywhere to move a line to a new SIM card on the site.

You have to go to AT&T to get a new sim.
Go to settings/general/about/iccid:

Each SIM card has a unique 20-digit Integrated Circuit Card Identifier (ICCID). The ICCID consists of 19 or 20 digits that are stored in the SIM card memory and engraved or printed directly on the card.
The 9th and 10th digits of a VoLTE-capable UICC-G SIM card will be either 27 or 28.
If you don't have a UICC-G SIM you can get one from an AT&T store or by contacting AT&T Customer Service or dialing 611 from your mobile device.

That's just it, though. I already HAVE a compatible SIM, that's unprovisioned. They should just be able to move service over to it.

Had my first call hand down from LTE to HSPA as I going into the basement of my office building. Works perfectly. There was a slight degrade in voice quality, but the call carried on as usual. Didn't drop at all.

Dang, am glad I opened this thread. I did not know Dayton Oh had it. We are usually on the back end of this stuff. Don't really pay attn to my status bar except for the battery. I have had a iPhone 6+ for a little over 4 months and wondered why the phone calls were so great. Especially over my Galaxy S4. Not sure when we got it. But, it is excellent for me in the Dayton area. I thought originally you had to make calls btwn VoLTE phones for it to work. That may have been another carrier awhile back. Don't remember.

You really notice the voice quality when you call a TMobile user. It sounds so much better than it used to.

Yes it does. I don't think Dayton has had it much more than a month. Since, it doesnt'y seem that long ago it would drop to 4g.

Unfortunately, my son who has an S4 on my account can not use it. ATT doesn't support--come on ATT, it is not an archaic phone and has the hardware.

Boston AT&T users... VoLTE is live

S4 is using the last generation of the Snapdragon SoC. VoLTE and CA support was added with the latest generation that debuted with the M8 and S5.

Edit: looks like Note 3 (from 2013) supports VoLTE

I tweeted ATTCares and they said they are still adding. But doubt it now.

The s4 doesn't have the hardware to support it.
It's nothing AT&T can do to support volte on that device.

Gotcha both. Yeah, they were just Care reps and not tech folks. I didn't go back and read specs. It's my sons and he really doesn't care. Me and my other son want him to get an iPhone anyway.

Been about two months now. Call quality has been flawless. Significantly improved from 3G voice. Reliability has been top-notch too, even when going out of VoLTE range.

Yeah, mine is great. Seems to always be on LTE for calls. Even on my Blueant Q1 which sounded bad on my S4, sounds great on the 6+.

I thought it was the headphone but obviously not.

went live here in Fort Worth, TX. I can definitely tell a difference between what it was previously and VoLTE. It's kind hard to describe the difference, but it's very noticeable and very nice addition! Plus 65/15 Mbps speeds are also nice ;)
