I traded in my 2020 MBP to Best Buy and got $800 allot more than apple would have given me. I will miss the touch bar but at least now I am on apple silicon and will get upgrades for at least the next 5 years. Yes when the M6 and M7 are out apple may phase out upgrades for the M2 units. 16GB RAM, 1TB drive.

Congrats on your new Air.
Thank you sir. Only issue is I can't enable bluetooth to show in my menu.

Thanks..

Congrats, I also bought the 16/1, though I did buy it from Apple... reason? Color. I know, petty. But Midnight was just not happening for me. So I got starlight and am super happy about it.

So far excellent experience all around. It does everything I want. Only possible nitpick? Possible - not feeling the supposed great battery life. I spend a lot of time on a networked mac mini which I access through the MBA, and after a few hours, I'm surprised to see how much the battery on the MBA has drained. It's probably just an illusion, but the M1 MBP I had seemed to me to last longer (while doing things like streaming Netflix/HBO etc.) - I gave the MBP back to Apple because it had problems (keyboard), but the battery life was outstanding... not feeling this with the MBA/shrug/.

This model does not require 3rd party apps to tell me the battery health.

Give it some time. After my first week the battery life jumped even when I was on a VPN.

Awesome and congratulations. If you don’t mind me asking what color did you get?

I keep my MBA m2 battery settings on "long battery life" or whatever it is.

The title of your post got me thinking.
Why do Apple call their laptops 13", 15" and 16" ?
Now obviously its a reference to screen sizes but, here's the rub.
America is the only country in the world that relies on inches , the rest of us use the metric system, because its easier. Apple is an international company, it tries its best to sell in every country on the planet, so why does it reference a largely complicated and unhelpful system of measurements in its products?

Many times when poor battery life is reported it can be traced to someone using a very high screen brightness. If this is you, set your brightness to just under 50% and watch your battery life increase dramatically.

For reference, I use my 13” M2 MacBook Air for work 100% on battery power. I’m a software developer and I can go 8-9 hours and still have 30% battery left at the end of the day. And my battery health is only at about 90%.

As far as I know, display sizes of most electronics in most countries are denoted in diagonal inches. I've lived in a few countries and have never seen any different nomenclature. A quick breeze-through of a few different manufacturer local country sites shows the same.

Omg I’m deleting my post, there’s some angry people on that thread. 😆🤣

Well done. I'll be intrigued by your impressions. I've had mine (the same config as yours) for about three months. The overwhelming thing that keeps me hooked on this machine is the battery life. It's ridiculous.
Got the same config as you two. I use it more in clamshell mode with Al Dente Pro, but still, I am loving the laptop too. Top 

It's interesting that BB offered you more than Apple. I suppose who's best is model-dependent. For instance, Apple's currently offering $1,070 for a 16" M1 MBP with 1 TB/16 GB, while BB only offers $850.

[In both cases I selected the top condition, which was "good" for BB; I forget what it was for Apple.]

The difference in this case seems to be that BB lumps all the M1 MBP's (13"/14"/16") together at about the same price ($800-$850; even a 16" M1 Max with 32 GB RAM is only offered $850), which is great if you're trading in a low-end model, but not if you're trading in a high-end one.

I traded in the i5 MBP. Apple only offered $400 and BB $800. I clearly told the clerk it was an i5 but perhaps a mistake was made and so when I came back with my unit they had to honor what she said. However I had to drive almost 2 hours away to get the unit configuration I wanted. I don't want a porch pirate to steal my unit since I work days.
