Had the S3

I went from the Ip4 to the Galaxy S3. It is a very nice phone, but when I went back to the Ip5 I was much happier. Everything just works. The whole ecosystem thing. The S3 is a great phone and the S4 will be a world beater, but I am sticking with the Ip5 until the next Ip comes out. Come back to the Ip.

If you are the kind of person who wants the latest and greatest iPhone, then I would wait. And maybe along the way the new galaxy S phone will be released and you could take a shot at it, unless you're set on an iPhone. I you're not the latest and greatest type person, then I would pull the trigger on the iPhone 5.

Bad idea to settle for s3 now, as the s4 is out in a few months (speculated press conference Mars 15.

However I too prefer the i5, mainly because of apps and the screen. If the s4 becomes smaller than the s3 (same screen size) and have the rumored screen, I'd regard it as the better buy.

In the end though, it's just a phone. The "new phone feeling" lasts some days, maybe a few weeks or even a month, but sooner or later almost everyone use their phones nowhere near the potential of a 2012 smartphone.

There's no point in him waiting for the S4 when he doesn't like android

Except hardware? Hardware on the iPhone is much better then most android phones. Spec papers don't always tell the full story

The hardware on the latest phones including the Note 2 is better for users who prefer larger screen size, user replaceable battery, better stock battery life, notification LED, etc. I'm not fanboy posting this just saying that jailbreaking an iPhone can leave much to be desired.

Every android I have had including the S3 has had horrible battery life compared to the iPhone 5. The note 2 screen size is too big and people look ridiculous talking on it. Also I find LED notification useless and annoying, especially at night. The only think you said that is better about the S3 then the iPhone is the ability to replace the battery much easier but then again I have AppleCare and I can always take it to apple to have it replaced for free over the next 2 years so that really doesn't even matter to me.

I have owned all three of the last iPhones and the battery life has gotten progressively worse with each one. It got to the point with my iP5 that I had to keep it plugged in at work. Very little voice use, mostly email and a bit of web use. On the other hand I can get all day out of my GS3, still it doesn't deter me from getting the next iPhone I will just need to keep a charger cable in the car, work, home, battery pack on my hip, etc.

Apple fails when it comes to non user swappable batteries like everyone else or doing what Moto has done and put a real battery into their phone if you are going to seal it up.

I've found that the iPhone 5 has fantastic battery life, especially compared to the 4S. The iPhone 4 was also wonderful in terms of battery, but the iPhone 5 is close to comparable. Rarely (only with constant, heavy use) do I need to charge before 11pm after taking it off the charger around 7:30-8am.

Now, for comparison's sake, both the Nexus 4 and the GS3 that I've owned (and subsequently returned and sold, respectively) would die by mid-afternoon (or early afternoon in the N4's case). This was with fairly aggressive power management by me (i.e. disabling location services, sync). In theory, the removable battery was nice for the GS3, but I don't see many people carry a spare battery around; what they carry around is the charger. And in comparison, with the iP5, I don't disable WiFi (even if not connected), location services, or push email and the battery still gets me far.
