no apps seem very appealing to me, just a waste of time.

You mean you've been though all 500K of them (not including iPhone apps) already?

Seriously, I would say if you can't figure it out then, yes, probably not a good purchase on your part and you would be better off returning it. I think its one of those devices you either want to integrated into your life and work flow or not.

If you bought it as an external monitor, I'm pretty sure the Mini wasn't the one to go for...

External monitor - on the go. An actual monitor is too big, the smaller the better to keep my bag light. It would only be used to have code open or toolbars, leaving my main screen open for design.

Thanks for all the help guys, I have actually come round to using it a bit more, but not quite enough to justify owning it. I am returning it, with the intent to buy another in the future if I feel I can afford something that is *slightly* helpful. At the moment it doesn't quite justify the spending for me.

To me, iPads became way cooler once iMessage came to them. Sitting on a couch or in a coffee shop or whatever, reading an iPad or doing work, texting back and forth, checking e-mail, etc. It is a more pleasant way to most tasks.

My retina mini arrived two days ago. My main reasons for buying are to use as a second monitor on the go, and to test my apps on... but what else am I meant to do with it?

It looks nice when browsing, but a lot of sites display wrong. I don't really play games and no apps seem very appealing to me, just a waste of time. What else am I meant to do with it??

Highly considering returning it and buying a cheap tablet that will still work as a test device and external monitor, which sucks because this thing is beautiful.

Can't tell if trolling, buy I was also someone who didn't need an iPad. It sounds like if you don't play games or use apps it probably is a waste of time. What sites don't render right? I rarely have that problem. I can tell you what I use it for...

1. Games
2. internet browsing on the couch, in bed etc. Much easier to use than my laptop and I can leave it lying around.
3. watching movies I rented
4. minor email and text editing, looking at schedules and calendars etc while downstairs
5. Take it on weekend trips instead of my laptop. Much better for internet use at the hotel/house than my phone, it weighs much less, and stays in my carry on. Plus it uses the same cable as my iPhone if it even needs to be charged.
6. Edit and annotate PDFs for use during meetings (I have one tonight).
7. Internet browsing; haven't had a problem yet

It essentially does more than my iPhone, but less than my laptop. However, it is much easier to take everywhere than my laptop.

Its not for everyone. I had one for a while and it played no real role in my life until I started doing more iOS gaming, more traveling, iWork and iCloud improved, and got a new laptop I was less keen on packing/unpacking all the time.

Seems like this was just a way to get people to visit his site. If you make apps you would know exactly what an Ipad is used for.

What is weird to me is, if you are using this to test out apps, iOS apps, and you aren't interested in your own apps, and can't figure out how to use them productively or for fun, your hobby is as run-on as this sentence I just typed.

Can you list a website that doesn't display right?

Its been awhile since I have seen one.

If no use in your head return it and save, to me it has more use than my laptop and desktop all together. I don't play games too, but I am reading lot using ipad, reviewing my photos, checking security cameras, playing videos from hbogo/showtime/starz/netflix, talking on skype etc. And all this ipad does best way, extremely portable and perfect on battery. So, good examples? Tons of other things could be done as well.

Some people have no need or use for an iPad. Nothing wrong with that. I have no need for a laptop. I bought a laptop years ago. Used it for a little bit. And now it is not even used.

What are you supposed to do with it? Four words: Duolingo on the crapper.

How else can you learn a foreign language during 5 to 15 otherwise wasted daily minutes?

LOL! I love Duolingo. Although I think they need a little more instruction.

I was against an iPad at 1st, but my wife got the iPad 2 when it came out and I played with it a few times. She got to the point that she hasn't touched me MacBook in months and I now have an Air and I haven't touched my MacBook in a week. It's great for web surfing, email, videos, and reading.

Ipads are made for pooping. Go watch Netflix on the can and get back to us

This. I use to bring magazines but hey... its the new milennium. Times change. I do social networking, flipboard, vine, instagram, youtube, email, er.. candy crush, and i'm always searching/learning/looking up info on my hobbies or the "i'll google that" moments without booting up a laptop etc.

Your iPhone can do this but.. big screen wins!

Give it time, just got my first iPad and it took about a week or two to bring it fully into my everyday life.
