Yet BB are still selling like hotcakes. As crappy as it is, it hasn't slowed down. People are buying them despite the iPhones superior UI and build.

The Storm is selling like hotcakes because of Verizon's BOGO sale for all Blackberrys.

Good story. Now I'm really glad that I didn't go with the Storm when I was contemplating it back in December.

There's 3 reasons why the Blackberry is "selling" so well.

1. Its on a lot more networks including Verizon which has better coverage than ATT, and having Verizon give the phone's away helps too.
2. They have a lot more models at different price levels which lets more people get the BB email experience.
3. The BB is very good at what it does, which is business class security and email.

Now, the iPhone is an awesome device, but its not going to kill RIMM anytime soon. Its a different target market than the BB, and while it has the best software hands down, its not in direct competition with all of the BB models.

Just signed up for the forums now because of this post. I own a Storm, but otherwise I'm all Mac. The only reason I have a BB and not an iPhone is that I'm stuck on Verizon due to coverage.

Most BB's I've used are great (except for syncing with Mac), but the Storm is by far the worst one out there. It is riddled with OS problems and the only solution we have is to install a leaked beta OS, which can only be done on a windows machine.

BOGO on Verizon... Buy One Blackberry, get a second One free. Sells like crazy, when the Storm is priced at $199.

Thankfully, I've lurked in Crackberry forums for the last few months. They are devouring each others offspring over there over the storm. Most users have problems with build quality, dust under their screen, a buggy software OS they've been promised for 1/2 year was coming any day. Often we they receive a replacement, it is as bad or worse than the one they sent in.

Wow, your story is almost identical to that of my cousin.

He had the first gen iPhone for about a year... got bored of it... decided he wanted a change so he bought the BB Storm, returned it the next day and bought an iPhone 3G. Moral of the story? You'll never find a phone with a better user experience than the iPhone. Sure it doesn't have every feature in the world, but it sure has the best experience. I can't imagine switching to a non-iPhone.

I thought the same thing I couldn't imagine switching and now that I have.. I will never switch again.. unless its to a new iPhone

Also, what other phone company will add new features onto your phone for free every year? The iPhone is like a tiny Mac in your pocket and the software is always changing and being made better.

I agree that the Storm is crap but the Bold, at least when comparing to other BB's, is actually pretty good. I still like the iPhone better though. :D

My partner at work and I both have iPhones for personal use. We both have Blackberries as well for business. We recently had to switch from Sprint to either ATT or Verizon. We went to the mall and tested out both the Bold and the Storm. There was no comparison, we went with the Bold and have been happy every since. We (IT dept) have been told to advise our customers to stay away from the Storm.

Great story!

Storm = Worst phone i have ever ever ever used.

Makes my iphone all that much more amazing. :apple:

Ok last night we went out and bought two blackberry storms! I was just getting tired of the bill at AT&T... Honestly I was kinda excited, I happen to like blackberry that is what I had before my Original iPhone... But since the 1st iPhone was released i have grown to love it and decided to get rid of it was one of the hardest "tech" things I have had to do. So we get to Verizon and purchase two storms... get them activated and go home. Here is were it gets good. I pull out my newest phone purchase and I dove right in.... My first tap.. nothing.... my second tap... nothing.. 4 seconds later FINALLY the ability to see all my applications.

Oh ok maybe its just slow because its updating "over the air" lol?! I open my macbook pro and go to blackberry.com to see my syncing options and download pocket mac.. plug my blackberry in and humm sync failed. tried it again.. sync failed.. Ok so I began searching for a reliable syncing solution and I found missing sync! Great 39.99 not to bad but hold up.. You can only use the application on one computer.. so im not decided not to spend 80 bucks on a app! So i sit there 3 hours into my purchase with nothing synced and my blackberry going slow as hell.

I decided to go bed and mess with it in the morning, I plugged my blackberry in to charge and humm it just shuts off. so I pull the battery and try again.. turns off again. Thats it! I had just come to the realization that I made a big mistake and I called AT&T and asked them to reverse the cancelation of my account and they did with no problem. SO the real fun begins I went to verizon this morning to return my crappy purchase, and the guy had the audacity to say if you have a problem syncing with your mac just install windows!?!??! and the best comment yet " The blackberry storm is built to run slow" "so the lag you are experiencing is completely normal" I said well ya ok just return my purchase and cancel my contract and ill be on my way......

So I have learned a major lesson here. the iPhone is by far one of the most advanced mobile devices out there. other companies have a long long way until they will have the ability to compete with the iPhone. I just found it amazing that all the blackberry people were complaining that the iPhone lacked basic functions, but its funny because the Blackberry storm lacked function.

Funny I did the same thing only I got one Storm and it was slow not as easy to use, touch pad clicks and moves too much, I even returned the Storm to try the world Edition because the guy at the counter said all BB work with Mac, you just have to download Pocket Mac. Funny thing not all Verizon Tech ppl are good, the guy selling me the phone had no clue what he was talking about, however the BB specialist kinda knew the product but was amazed when I was told the phone had Tethering capability, but when you look on Verizon's site it is not even listed as available, so what good does the 30 days trial for tethering do me if the phone is not listed as compatible.

Went back to return everything and the other non techy sales guys said why dont I load Boot Camp, and Windows then sync my phone that way, at this point I said Duh! what is the point of having a Mac if I have to load windows to use everything especially when Macs have been around forever.

I am just simply amazed at what ppl will tell you just to get you to buy something.

Porche had a great ad campaign in the 1980's "Porche There is NO Substitute"

AT&T is not the best but like someone else said on this forum what do you think would happen to Verizon if everyone had an iPhone and tried using their data plan at the same time, it is called Bottleneck, it is not bad on AT&T, just some of things they do and say makes them seem like they are talking out of their ButtHoles:eek:

unlocked storm = biggest waste of money, time, and countless head achces I have ever had! Luckily I was able to unload it on someone and lost 100 bucks from original purchase on a month and a half old phone.... But w/e my iphone 3g soon to be 3gs stomps everything :D :apple:

Ive been an avid BB user for the past 3 years. The storm is the worst one out. I picked up my 3g not long ago and was amazed at how it just works. If anyone out there has to move over to verizon, just stick with a berry that has the traditional form factor (querty and trackball or scrollwheel). I tried hard to defend the storm but it ended up being quite a letdown.

GARBAGE....and sorry but those 'crackberry' retards who boot the storms are dumb too....admit, the storm SUCKS and get a bold or the best...iphone 3gs.

I loved my blackberry storm except for one major issue... the audio. For some reason everyone said that I sounded as though I was overmodulating. This was common on all of them. The caller quality was great but mine always sucked to the person on the other end.

Keep the iphone... At&t sucks but apple is Awesome!

Oh how I long for the day when Apple divorces At&t and hooks up with Verizon. Then verizon will be untouchable, I guess on that day At&t should just fold up shop, unless the goverment wants to buy them too...???:confused::confused:

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (white): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A312g Safari/528.16)

It still amazes me that people buy phones other than the iPhone. I mean, at this point, why bother?

I assume you mean "smart phones." Yeah, I totally agree. Who would go out right now and buy an Instinct or blackberry when they can have an iPhone3G-S with OS 3.0 ??? It just completely defies logic.

I believe Blackberry Storm is the most hyped cell/smart phone in history.

I'd rather get Samsung Omnia if I want a touch smart phone with Verizon.

A lot of companies buy them for their employees because of Exchange. Also, I worked for a company that banned company email on the iPhones due to security reasons. Obviously both issues have been resolved, but companies don't want to mess around with letting people switch phones. That and BBs are cheaper (well, again, were :p). They're all following the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality
