Need some advice here please. I just bought a watch on CL (I know, I know) about an hour ago. Met in a public place, guy seemed nice enough. Asked him why he was selling it and he said it was his wife's and she didn't want it.

Cut to now and I just got an email from him saying "I know this sounds crazy, but can I buy the watch back from you?".

This is a first for me. Part of me is wondering what's going on and another part of me wants to just ignore his email because who the hell knows what this could lead to.

All he has is my phone number. Meeting place was 20 minutes away and he left before me after the deal was done.

Advice?

How much of a premium did you pay him? I would sell it back for that same premium back to him.

In other words, if you paid $600 for a $400 watch, I would sell it for $800.

And then you could go get another one and you just covered the premium.

Charge him 25% over what you paid him for it and make a profit.

Couple hundred. My concern is why would he want to buy it back like that? Its odd...

----------

I'd sell it back to him for more than what he sold it to me for.

I mean, he's inconveniencing me.

Ha. Don't you think it's pretty shady though to want it back an hour later? I want the watch, I just bought it.

More than likely his wife realized what he did and told him to get it back. ;)

Hey may try and scam you and give you some counterfeit cash for it. Then he ends up with the watch and your money. If I was you I would keep the watch.

I bet his wife changed her mind.

If you want it, keep it. I would. Then again, he might tell someone you stole it. Be sure you have copies of the CL ad.

Lol, he probably didn't tell his wife that he was selling her watch.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I've watched too many Criminal Minds and just feel like this is dangerous. It just doesn't seem right. The guy didn't really know much about the watch at all, but seemed to know exactly what he wanted for it...

There are too many "creepy" reasons he may want it back...even if he wants it due to an innocent motivation - I say pass. He can buy one off CL if he needs it that bad.

If you wanna make a profit you still can with someone else...

The fact he even wants it back screams shady, stupid character.

Fool me once...

Hahaha...Criminal Minds.

You think that now that he has your money he wants to try and get the Watch back? Doesn't seem likely to me, but I guess you never know. I'd say the most likely is either sellers regret or he got a more enticing offer.

I'm thinking like you. It just screams shady. I'm not worried about making a profit. I want to try it out for a while, keep it if I like it, sell it if I don't. It's a 42mm Space Gray too which is exactly what I wanted.

Probably did get a better offer or his wife got pissed. I just don't really want to engage more with him and get into a conversation about it, it's a hassle.

Just be honest and email him back and say sorry but you don't want to resell the watch

He can buy another on CL... Don't need to tell him that lol

I want the watch, I just bought it.

If you want it then keep it, so long as you have proof he agreed to sell it to you and you gave him money for it then there is nothing he can do!

If he bought it for his wife he might not have played around with it, might just have found she didn't want it and decided to sell, looked up the price others were going for and decided he wanted the same amount. Either way, price doesn't matter... now you've paid, it's yours. If you don't want to sell it back to him, don't- If you do, make sure you do in a public place and check the money before giving over the watch.

Here's a crazy suggestion, you could always just ask for the actual reason. Just let him know that it sounds crazy and fishy and it's just down right an inconvenience.

Then again maybe he got his buddies ready to jump you #

Just tell him no then. If he hassles you anymore afterwards, block him.

Most importantly, grats on the new Watch! Hope you're enjoying it.

If you sell it back to him, check the bills. When I used to sell my old iPhones on CL, I always had to check. No matter if they seem honest or not.

I'm trying to enjoy it lol. Just got it set up and then he emails me with this.
