The constant interest and reporting on celebs lives is something I will never understand, who cares!?!
'Course, without that, they wouldn't be celebrities, and you'd lose out on a lot of pics. ;)

heh, yeah. This makes me sound like a really old man, which isn't too good because I'm only 21! But the fascination that millions of people would seem to have with celebrity lives puzzles me. I'm sure celebs didn't used to be made to feel quite as important as hey do these days. Yes they've always had attention, but did anyone used to care when someone went to the shops? This crap makes in to magazines all the time now. It's amazing

I imagine it's difficult being a celebrity and having to deal with all of the negative attention. Sure - money, fame, all that is nice, but to put of with people following you everywhere to get a picture? No thanks. Not that I have to worry too much about that...

As for treatment now vs. in the past, I think there are just so many more outlets for pictures, articles, etc. that weren't available 50 or more years ago.

To each their own, I guess....
True. And it's not like they need to worry about the finances of the settlement.

I'm thinking pre-nup, that's probably why they are so confident about being able to remain friends.

It's sad, but just mirrors real life. It's a rare to have a Hollywood marriage that is successful. Just makes it very hard when living in a world of fantasy. Money is the last thing that they will have to think about.

I'm not sure if they have a child or not. The real concern should be for a child in that situation.

I think that children are a central matter to this divorce rather than just collatoral damage (as they seem to be in many Hollywood marriages.) Brad wants kids and Jen wants to conquer movies. Somehow, I don't think he will have a problem, I am sure there are more than enough qualified and eligable women in the world. I've read that Brad is not the smartest guy in the world, hopefully he will choose according to his needs. Jen seems to be a very intelligent woman, she married a leading man, good move career wise.

Given the Anna Karenina theory of marriage holding true, Brad should put a little more thought into his next attempt.

A little bit on that theory. I like this theory, though dissecting marriage seems less than romantic, marrying according to appropriate needs and wants while being romantic would seem to be a winning equation.

From what my married friends have told me though, marriage is a lot of work.

I wouldn't entirely fault Jen, but if she had entered this marriage knowing what the other wanted and then reneged on meeting those desires I would be a little upset that she had wasted my time.

Kudos to Brad for being adult about this, if he wanted to end that marriage he could have just started shagging half of Hollywood.

Despite what I have written, I also tire of the relentless focus on celebrity marriages. But it appears that many people take cues from those more rich/famous than they are and these two are setting a pretty good example of how to settle their differences and move on. So far.

It's better than Robert Blaking your wife I guess.

Do any of you really give a ****?

Honestly, do you really give a **** that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt Broke up? What are you like their best friends? Because I bet $500,000,000 your not. I seriously don't get it, why people worry about stupid **** like this.
People died from a tsunami
There is a War going on
Apple is coming out with new gear in 3 days. (heh j/k)

Please tell me how Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt deserve to go on that list?!?

Some people feel like they know them because of watching them so much. They invited Jennifer into their homes every Thursday night (and now several times a night on syndication). They watched Brad on the big screen, and feel like they know him. Not everybody (not even me), but some do.

Others live vicariously through the lives of celebs and use them to escape their humdrum lives. So when they do something less than stellar or reveal themselves to be no different than the rest of us, it is of some interest to them.

When BOTH of them are huge celebs, it only magnifies the situation.

I posted it as a point of passing interest, and because I think JA is quite cute

Big deal. Two over rated american film stars are getting a divorce. I'm sure that's going to make a big difference to the tsunami victims.

What is it about Jennifer Aniston anyways, she's a lousy actress and has a funky mouth with too thin an upper lip. She's really nothing special, but I guess if the American publicity machine says she is then the brain washed public believe it. Kind of like the war against terrorism isn't really about the acquisition of that country's oil wells.

In the scheme of history this breakup really doesn't matter. We do have a large contingent of groupies in this country that like to vicariously follow the lives of celebrities. So this is all for them. There are many Hollywood magazines that make millions off this stuff. Plus the assorted TV programs like Access Hollywood.

Oh, sorry. I forgot that we have to stay focused on the tragedies of the world 24/7. Because sitting here and posting endlessly about Asia and Iraq is going to make the world a better place unlike posting about Jen and Brad. No, wait...

Now if you were going to go out and DO something about Iraq then that's one thing. But if all you're going to do is POST about Iraq rather than about celebrities, well, it's an equal waste of your time, socially speaking, either way.

Am I best friends with anyone in Iraq? No. With anyone affected by the Tsunami? No. So by your logic I shouldn't care about those things either, right?

No one is "worried" about Brad and Jen. Humans are interested by things that don't actually have any impact on our lives. Tragedy grabs our attention. So do famous, beautiful people. That's human nature. Always been that way, always will be that way.

Couldn't have said it better myself. If you don't care about this, why are you EVEN bothering reading it. You could clearly see the subject matter in the title. And then...WHY on Earth did you take the time to reply. That shows you obviously care somewhat.

Good point.

I am best friends with someone in Iraq, and I know someone who knows someone who was affected by the Tsunami, and I still am interested. Why? Am I obsessed with someone I'll probably never meet? No. Escapism. As said above, we invite them into our homes, we pay to watch them entertain us. We may not know them, but we do care about them. Maybe some more than others, but they are people in the spotlight. Maybe we shouldn't care, but we do. They are out there, and if we stop for 2 seconds to say it's a shame, it may be gossip, but it's interesting.

Nobody's stalking them, we just feel for them because it's almost like we know them. Maybe we could be focusing on more important things, but if you do that 24/7 it'll get to you. Trust me.

Now, back to doing something more important... reading rumors about Apple on a web site.

Well said solvs!
I'm interested in world events, and impacting the world too, but I need a touch of fantasy and escapism from time to time or I'd go nuts. Nobody is saying Iraq or Indonesia is not important here, and nobody is comparing this "news" to that "news".

Too much of this "the world's going to hell and we're worrying about Jen and Brad" smacks of my mom telling me to eat all my dinner because there are people starving in India. I used to volunteer to send them my English peas, but they ended up in the garbage can anyway.

They broke up because Jen was getting too old. :p

Just wait. Pitt's next gf will be Jen's age......from when they first met.

Wonder if he hasn't already had a younger girlfriend and Jennifer found out. IMHO she is still very young, unless the easy life of acting has caused her to age beyond her years. Maybe all that lounging in a trailer isn't relaxing after all. :D

Not for making babies though. It happens, but after 35 the risks are much higher, when it comes to having a baby for women. I guess the final answer will be which one goes on to start a family, as far as honesty goes. Will Aniston start a family or will Pitt?

I've wondered why Angelina Jolie has not given birth to her children yet, unless she is incapable. But then, the two Hollywood stars who seem most interested in having families have now been linked.

Personally, Angelina is a little too crazy to make a good mother. But it's not like weird things don't happen in Hollywood.

Mom? why do you kiss your brother at award shows? yeah, along those lines.

That's what the press wants you to believe. I think Angelina is a sweet & caring lady, or else she wouldnt be successful in Hollywood. Seriously, not a joke.

They separated, does not mean a divorce. I think this separation will do both of them some good. I cant imagine wanting to be with someone for seven years, let alone an entire lifetime. I will join the mormons.

Kissing her Brother in public, marrying and divorcing Billy Bob, and the latest bouts of gratuitious sex (with a varitey of prominent Hollywood leading men) and her rumored involvement in Brad and Jens breakup aside, I agree with you.

Seriously though, making out with a sibling? at an international awards show in front of cameras? that's just icky to me on many levels. There are far too many witnesses to try and suggest a photoshop.

Come on, really? I wish the best for Maddox, but how many kids have to deal with their mother making out with her brother in public? Don't even tell me it won't come up.

Being here in SoCal (next door to Hollywood) the goings on of stars is pretty well known. I have nothing againt gratuitous sex, but as a mother and suposed role model?

I enjoy her better roles, but I think she's loony, sorry.

Because as we all know, only sweet, caring people are successful in Hollywood. Hollywood's just one little oasis of caring, selflessness, and compassion. Wait, what?

And let's not forget her father, Voight, begging her on national TV to get help--psychiatric help, that is.

I know I carry around viles of blood of my loved ones around my neck. Not damaging to a child at all, no. And, not only does she engage in gratuitous sex with several partners, as previously mentioned, she talks about it on national TV (Leno or Letterman, can't remember which stooge).

Thats what the media would like you to believe. Just like how they put the Olsen twins on a pedestal, but in reality, they are complete wrecks. I still know for a fact that most of the successful people in Hollywood are very generous and nice people.
