It's great to see someone already innovate and come out with what Apple will rip off for their "Airbuds" concept.

Cause I work for 10 hours and I listen to music and podcasts all day.

I'm a sissy and only work 8 hours a day, but I too listen to podcasts (until I run out of new episodes, then I switch to music) at work, but I take breaks/lunch and there are periods during my shift where I have to communicate with others too much to allow for really listening to podcasts or music. I wouldn't find it inconvenient at all to pop them in their case during these times and carry them in my pocket, effectively getting me through the entire shift without having to plug them into a USB port.

Surely you don't keep your headphones on for 10 hours straight?

(I'm just waiting on more consumer reviews to come in before I drop the $300. As a first gen product, I'm too worried the audio quality is poor or there are too many bugs. Man, I wish I could have gotten in at that $179 KickStarter price)

i'm waiting to see if Apple release anything like this alongside the iPhone 7 in September, but if they don't i will probably buy and try the Bragi Dash earphones, they seem like they would be really useful for going to the gym.
I do hope Apple are working on a version of their own tho, this would make the lack of a headphone jack on the iPhone 7 worth it (obviously if the rumours are true).

I don't talk to anyone at work, I just sit there and get on with it and any break I have I still have no reason to take them off. I'm using a pair of Sony SBH20's, I have two of them since they were only £10 each and each one will last me 8 hours. However if the headphones are more expensive, I'm not exactly going to buy three of them to get me through the day.

I do have a pair of Beats Studio Wireless which will last me about 12 hours, but they suck, the bluetooth performance is so bad on them and they make a constant hissing sound. They were a waste of £150 during Blackfriday, I'm glad I didn't pay £300 for them, sadly Vodafone wouldn't take them back for "hygiene" reasons.

I can say with some deal of assurance that this is atypical use, and not likely a significant consideration in the product feature set for Apple's target demographic.

Its not an Ad. They are stating that this kind of product is what Apple will try and rip off, thats why they are going into detail about the functions and how well the technology works in a package this size.

"With the first round of Bragi Dash units now shipping to Kickstarter backers" - not true. Im a backer and none of us have gotten them yet.

To address the sound quality questions, I've read a few reviews about this and they say the quality is quite good. In earbud form they already offer a good amount of passive noise cancellation also.

On battery life, the batteries in these are terribly tiny. I suppose you could get better battery life from a non rechargeable but you couldn't replace it. These are waterproof. They are really made for doing exercise workouts, not wearing all day long. After three-four hours use, you put them back in their case which charges them. The case charges them 5 times before it needs to be charged. Buy a few spare cases for work, the car, whatever.

I think its a fantastic product, hence why I kick started it. Imagine how cool it will be doing laps in a pool while listing to music?

These are smart ear buds. The battery isn't just for music on bluetooth, these buds track your fitness, heart rate, oxygen, jawbone microphone, etc. They do a lot, thats why the battery doesn't last longer than a few hours.
There are several earbuds shipping like this, this product is not the first.

I've seen the Motorola Hint, but I didn't realize there were already several competitors in this new product category. Can you list a few of these other models? I'm looking forward to when it matures to "Her" levels.

Actually I might be wrong. The two kick starters I was going to mention don't compete because the features are vastly different. I just googled the Dash and read up on the features. I've had ear-in bookmarked for a while, but I guess you really can't compare the two. I'm also following Revols and Skybuds on Kickstarter.

Yes, a cell phone next to an ear for a typical call vs. earbuds in ears for upwards of hours at a time. Yes, that's exactly the same thing. How foolish of me.

A cell phone next to an ear has to communicate with a cell tower hundreds of meters away, even through lots of obstructions. It doesn't even know whether your brain is one of those obstructions; it will zap as much as necessary to reach that tower. (however, your brain being one of the very first things near to the cellphone, you can rest assured that a good % of the power emitted by the phone will go right through your brain).

Similarly with WiFi. Chances are that you are most of your day damn near to a WiFi device, or a number of them. All of their chatter go through your whole body, all day long, even if you are not between them. They emit in all directions. Your router has to make sure that its signal reaches out to a possible client tens, maybe hundreds of meters away. You're sitting only 5 meters from it? Notice what a good WiFi signal you have? That is the same level of signal that your whole body is getting.

And you worry about headphones that are designed to use the minimum possible power to transmit through a few cm?

Yep, absurdly foolish.

NOTE: I am not saying that even the cell phone signal is harmful in any way; whether it is or not is a more complicated subject, and as far as I know, it isn't.

Neither the revols nor skybds are close - although personally might have to go with revols if the fit of the Dash isn't right for me. These really have no comparison in the market at the moment.

I have a pair which I received last week and they're pretty damn good. First off, they're one of the first out of the gate with the small size "buds" that fit in your ear without the need to be connected together, which has always been an issue for me. They do a lot more than just bluetooth. They have a suite of software offering some health kit options heart rate monitoring, cycling walking running and stuff like that so you can track your workouts without the need for other devices. There is internal storage so that you can play music and leave the phone at home if you wish. And there is something called "audio transparency' which is a cool feature allowing you to swipe on the left ear or use the app to set up the transparency of audio coming in from the outside. So you can listen to music or an audio book or whatever, a movie maybe, and still have some knowledge of what's going on around you.
When you first get the Dash, you need to do an update, which is a little confusing, but once done you are pretty much good to do. Plug in the Dash into your computer (I used a Mac), there is a link in the Dash which comes up in the Finder when the computer sees it, you just click the update link, it takes you to an update page, download the update, drop it into the main folder once it downloads then eject and wait a couple of hours for the update to take effect on the buds. The lights on the Dash change colors and such but they go back to "breathing" mode once the update completes and everything is all set after that w/ the newest software. I have noticed a little bit of white noise when the audio transparency is on and I've noticed that the bluetooth streaming isn't perfect, but the sound is good. Might not be audiophile great but it's good and I'm happy with it. The fit is great and they go into the ear the way they should which gives you a nice sound as well. They will only get better w/ time.

I bought these based on a lot of reviews and frankly they suck - the audio quality is bad bad bad. They sound super tin can - I regret buying them. My stock iP6S phones sound way better.

How will they stay stuck in your ears though? I have those rubber earbuds and I lose one sometimes when I make a rapid head movement and I'm not even underwater ;)

They stick in pretty good and don't fall out at all - too bad the sound quality sucks

Sound quality is fine.

I am real user and buyer and these are the worst sound I have heard in a set of ear buds.
Maybe the quality is fine for you but for what they cost they are way below my expectations. I own a set of Beats Wireless and the Beats quality are a lot better. however the Beats do not stay in my ears as good.

We will have to agree to disagree. The sound is on a par or better than my Jaybird BlueBuds X. The fit and funcionality is great.

Setting the bar low. Neither of these hold a candle to my Shure SE535. With a small battery the functionality is greatly reduced.

The Shure SE535 have a wired connection. They are not a comparable product.

A small battery negates the benefits of wireless bluetooth phones. Until they make a leap in significant battery life coupled with at least comparable sound quality they have no value.

The wire negates the benefit of the sound quality of the Shure. If they have a wire not only between them but to teh device itself they have no value. The battery is prefectly adequate - 3-4 hours usage and 30 minute charge. I would be lucky to have the chance to listen to music for that long...

3 hours is horrible for wireless headphones, I listen to music on and off all day. That's not only horrible but unacceptable, I can't even imagine how incredibly annoying it would be to charge headphones on and off all day rather than just plug them in my phone, computer, whatever never having to recharge them. The battery life will depreciate the longer you have these too so after a year, as often as I listen to headphones they might not last half that amount. Again, I'll give you that the sound quality isn't even half as good as my shures but is "listenable". The battery life however is abysmal.

There are currently Blue Tooth headphones in the market that last over 25 hours, with cables that can be plugged directly into a device circumventing the need for batteries entirely.

It depends on what your needs are. Some people won't listen to music over earbuds, due to the quality differences between full-sized headphones, wired or bluetooth. So you are already making sacrifices for convenience.

You have your opinions, but your opinions are not universals for every particular need.

Not universal but 3-4 hours I imagine isn't enough for most listeners. Also further proof removing the headphone jack is totally unnecessary on the next iphone iteration.

Actually the battery life will not be impacted - that's how things worked in the olden days.

But surely having a wire plugged in makes the headphones not wireless.

Exactly - a great point. Instead of people sying something is universally not cceptable they could perhaps acknowledge that not all use cases are the same.

I think most is very subjective here - for example in my workplace (a utility company with a variety of non-customer facing roles) no-one would be wearing headphones for over three hours straight.

There are two uses for me when three hours wont be enough - long haul international flights and visits to a shopping centre over three hours.
