Bragi learned what a lot of these upstarts learn: making stuff is hard.

I should add: I hope this means they get their tech into more products. I’ve always thought the concept was a good one, but reviews sound as though they struggled with execution. My sense, without having any inside knowledge, is that their algorithms are where the magic is but making a physical set of earbuds that look good, sound good, have good radio connectivity, etc, was where the challenges developed.

I tried them out, but they had connection problems when I kept my phone in my waist pocket. I had to keep my phone in my jacket pocket (if I was wearing it) for the connection to be steady.

Other than that the features were nice. But of course, the connection was the primary must have function. :)

Had to return them and then got the first airpods when they eventually came out.

I’m only here for the puns. Which so far are both awesome and cringe. So awesomely cringe

Not seeing it. Look sleek and streamlined to me. Haven’t thought twice about wearing in public in over two years.

Why on earth would they waste the money? Not happening.
People used to say all the time how ridiculous AirPods looked and I was just like...they look like the headphones that also came with the iPhone but without the wires. What’s the big deal

LOL not surprised. I bought the originals. What a sad waste of money. The Bluetooth reception was beyond awful.

I agree, the concept was great, the executing not so much. It also shows how far ahead apple is with their AirPods. I just wish the battery degradation was better in the AirPods.

I hope Apple buys them and rebrands.

What? Why would they do that? Those things that Bragi made don't pass the sniff test, you couldn't even put your phone in your pocket and keep connection never mind walk away from your phone.

I'm with you... absolutely horrible. I would have gained more value burning my money in a fire pit.
I'm not sad to see this get sold and I would never support any new endeavours from this company.

This was kinda expected....they haven't been active on their social media in over half a year. I'm sad, they showed the innovation I keep wishing to see from Apple.

Now I have to keep looking for waterproof earbuds (non-existent to my knowledge) that actually also fit my ears (bought the original Dash and loved it, but sadly didn't fit my ears. Had been saving for the tailored version...)

I have "The Headphone" from Bragi and have used it every day for the last year. It's very good and if the company had updated its few quirks (charger that actually fits properly) around the same price ($150) I would have bought another one.
Recently the battery life on my unit has been dwindling down below 3 hours per charge so I am looking for a replacement - Probably Jabra 65t.

It's funny that they want to start focusing on AI because the Dash (with AI) had all sorts of issues and their Headphone (without any AI) was really good.

That was a question of time, not good enough, to expensive, bad customer service.

Yep, never got that either. Wires dangling from your ears and down to your waist? GREAT! Wireless buds with the same little handles? NOOO, it looks funny!

I have a pair of the original Dash model from launch. The right ear bud has had a crack in it for over a year now, the bluetooth only works correctly indoors and they're over 3 years old now but they still work correctly and I still wear them to the gym 4 times a week. When I realized late last year that comply discontinued their foam tips, and Bragi was out of stock of almost everything on their website, I bought 6 pairs of extra foam tips from Best Buy on clearance for 50% off.

With the foam tips, they were basically the perfect wireless earbuds for me aside from the bluetooth flaws. The foam tips made them block outside noise as well as ear plugs do, and they were also a snug fit so I didn't need to worry about them falling out of my ears when using a decline bench. I did occasionally toggle on the audio transparency feature as well. This actually covers the two reasons I never upgraded to AirPods when they came out - EarPods only stay in well when your head is fully upright, (assuming AirPods behave similarly) and they don't block outside noise much.

It's a shame to see Bragi couldn't stay in the market, since I did like their product. That makes 2 tech products I've supported that have drowned out of the market by competitors which lack features I want. (The other being Pebble, which I'm still wearing one of their watches for the 10 day battery life and always-on screen. There are other companies that got some of the features right, like Amazbit, but none have the same app / watch face selection while also having good battery life.)

I think there are a couple of earbud style competitors to Bragi's Dash around still, so when my backlog of foam tips run out I guess I'll jump ship to whatever company makes the most comparable earbuds at that time. Right now Sennheiser seems to have something comparable to the dash, although their design plasters their logo over a metallic surface so it's not as subtle as the solid color look of dash. RIP Bragi

I had the original Bragi Dash. They were my first pair of wireless earphones so I really wanted to like them. The features were cool, they were comfortable to wear, and the sound was ok. Unfortunately the connection was extremely spotty and made for a very frustrating experience. I used them for a couple months before they got shelved. My understanding is that future iterations had a much stronger connection but I never tried.

That was quite an ill-informed post. When they first shipped the Dash were quite disappointing but subsequent firmware updates pretty much fixed those problems.

Let's look at some of the features of the Dash that Airpods don't have:

- Great noise blocking
- Better fit due to the range of tips/covers they came with
- Waterproof (don't think you an swim with Airpods in can you?)
- On device controls - play/pause/volume
- On-board storage for when you don't want to be tied to a device (note this is less of an issue now as if I run I do so without my phone but with my watch)
- 4D controls - so not only can I control music with a tap, if I have gloves on I can control music by a nod of the head

The customer experience with Bragi was variable - my experience was fine - others not so much.

I hope they sold to Amazon soze I can double tap my ears to re-order more Tide, Charmin, or Scope. They could call them the Amazon Dash. Hey, that rings a bell...
Well Amazon is discontinuing the Dash buttons, but probably for Alexa not “The Headphone Voice” or whatever Bragi called the AI for their “The Headphone”. (And people complain about Apple’s product naming )

IQbuds BOOST by Nuheara if you have mild to moderate hearing loss. If you have good hearing, save a couple hundred bucks and go with original IQbuds. Same as Bragi, Comply tips make a world of difference. I actually think the augmented hearing functionality with IQbuds is better than Bragi anyhow.

People freaked out over the iPad’s name too. It’s the internet, people just say things unfortunately.
It’s not just the internet... there are plenty of complainers irl too. Of course they’ll always have something to say to “the doers”. It’s their way of feeling better about themselves. By minimizing others’ accomplishments, they don’t feel so bad about their own lack of same.

If there’s a legitimate criticism, sure take it and act on it. Not enough talk time? Take too long to switch devices? Double tapping for Siri is a pain? Ya know, you’re right. Let’s see what we can do about that.

Those earphones look dumb without unnecessary wires hanging down from them? Ummm, yeah, shut the **** up.

This company had about 6 months in the limelight before Apple announced AirPods, and they’ve pretty much been DOA ever since the iPhone 7 keynote. I was kind of hoping they’d continue to innovate and stay competitive in this space, but they never managed to come up with a good response to AirPods. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung had bought them.

Due to the popularity of the airpods, I would expect them to kill many more of these startups!

The same thing happened to Pebble because of the Apple Watch.

Let's look at some of the features of the Dash that Airpods don't have:

- Great noise blocking
- Better fit due to the range of tips/covers they came with
- Waterproof (don't think you an swim with Airpods in can you?)

I have a coworker with them who was kind enough to let me try them out. I tried every ear tip and none of them ever came close to fitting, thus:

- They did not block sound.
- They didn't fit.*
- Waterproof them all you want, you can't swim with them. Water kills bluetooth signal.

*My left earhole isn't the "optimal" shape for my AirPods either. However, they still fit well enough that I can actually hear music out of them.
