Brains or Beauty?

In myself I'd rather have brains. Same goes for a S.O. However, beauty is such a nice thing to have in a S.O. I'll be blunt - It is absolutely wonderful to be head over heals in love with a person's body and then to have them allow you to touch it all over :). But you definitely need more than that to form a healthy, loving relationship.

Brains do too, eventually, but by old age your eyes won't be as sharp either, so perhaps beauty will be less important!
 
Grr. I Voted beauty because I thought that you were asking what would you rather have in a girlfriend/wife. make it more specific.
 
Beauty gets guys laid cause they are stupid enough to do it.

Brains over beauty any day.

Beauty fades knowledge grows.


I don't know how guys can find a female who spends more time and money on make up and beauty products than she does actually doing something productive , to be more attractive.

I tend to have no problem finding a woman that is both physically beautiful and intellectually brilliant...

i guess it could be because im not working in a engineering or comp sci related field... in international buisness law, you have to make an effort to keep yourself looking good to get major brownie points with the clients.

HOWEVER,

while a woman who's pretty and smart is a prize, a woman who is stunningly beautiful and intellectually brilliant (far beyond me) should be avoided at all cost. most men can't handle being in a relationship with a woman that is both far better looking AND far smarter.

Re: "most men" that can't handle the "woman who is stunningly beautiful and intellectually brilliant... they should just deal with their own insecurities. It seems silly to me to pass up a good person for that reason...
 
Women between the ages of 18-22 don't know what the hell they want. If they have a boyfriend its just because he's some punker kid with a gotee and a chip on his shoulder. See, we "nice" guys get to wait it out. Otherwise, we're thrown in the friends category. Yeah we can talk to those HOT chicks, but thats about it. We are not "boyfriend" material. The KEGMEISTER is braaahh. :eek:

My best guy friend complained of the same things to me...

I can only speak for myself, though, and I can honestly say that I do not fit into that generalization:p I've only had one serious boyfriend, and he was the person that got me hooked on macs! He's really the opposite of the "punker kid" type that you mention.

I have also been told that I think like a guy, and that I am an exception in that respect. I do see a lot of girls going for the type that you mention, though, so I understand what you're getting at.

To be fair, girls can suffer from that as well, because many guys in the age group that you mention aren't looking for the nice girls, either.
 
If brains mean personality, then brains, but if it meens she got As in high school or is book smart, and an ass other then that, i'd go for Beauty.

Honestly I like an a litte of both, a good personality is more important, but I like looks to go on top of that...each one is greatly helped by the other.

Also is this what you like in other people, or what you like in yourself(to try and get a girl/boyfriend or spouse)

True, but can i have one that was smart and one that was super uber hott

I mean im the alpha male I can do whtever I want haha im just kidding

I would say a combo but would prefer a decent looking girl wth smarts over a hottie that cant fill up a gas tank. Well, maybe the hottie if she was the heiress of a billionaire (paris anyone) then i think i could live with it lol

its smart to date someone who's around where you are... and as far as dealing with insecurities go... they hold you back in life, yes true... but you still need a tiny splinter of it because it keeps you from getting too big headed. if a girl is neurosurgeon smart and victoria secret model hot, why would she want to be with you? i mean KNOW i'm good looking, but i also know that i'm not that good looking or that smart. so what? she likes you for your 'personality'? thats ******** 90% of the time ... for most women who like guys who aren't in their league its either for a) money b) because they they like ***** whipped guys c) they're insecure about themselves ... if a, they'll bled you dry, if b, you (at least I) won't be happy being someone's servant, and if c) eventually they'll wise up and won't need you anymore.

but i'm getting long winded here.... my point is

if you're just after sex, then date whoever you want... but if your goal is a stable steady romantic relationship, you should go for someone who can truly love you back.

I have had both and I must say the women that had the brains was alot better than the blonde air head. if you can find one that has both more power to you :D .

in a world filled with qualified guys who can make a girl happy the only reason why a girl would be happy with a significantly more frumpy guy is because in order for her to be happy she needs a ***** whipped guy and/or the other reasons i mentioned in my previous post.
 
I'm sure as heck not going to pay a hooker/escort/dancer extra for her brains ... ;)

I was thinking the same thing. :p

There seems to be a few folk with strange ideas about women and dating on MR. I suspect they may be dating the wrong kind of women...
 
Anyone with a pulse... although I have a certain someone in my sights at the mo who is lucky enough to have both brains and a certain beauty, as well as a very keen sense of humour. Let's see how things pan out... ;)
