Sorry, you're right.
See if you can restore it to 3.1.2 IPSW thru itunes and then run blackrain.
Not sure why you cant get redsnow to run. It works fine for everyone else.

Well a quick google search reveals that i'm not the only one with the issue. Others have had the same issue but no real solutions were available unfortunately.

I am restoring to 3.1.2.
I can give redsn0w a try with 3.1.2 first i guess since it's easier to unlock with redsn0w and if i still get that error then i will run blackra1n....

Redsn0w 0.9.2 was never updated to recognize the 3.1.3 firmware. You have to "trick" it into working by pointing it to the 3.1.2 firmware, even if you have 3.1.3 on your phone.

Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 only supports firmware 4.0, and is not compatible with 3.x versions of iOS.

In the future, please do not post multiple times in a row. Double, triple, and quadruple posting is poor internet ettiquite and is not allowed on this board. Posting only to bump threads is also not allowed.

Nice :D
I forgot that you had to point it to 3.1.2 instead and the tutorial didnt mention it either.
My bad.

Wow, i don't know what happened... i turned the phone off as per instructions and now it won't turn back on....

WTF? :D
Unplug it and plug it back in.
You didnt run out of battery right?

No it's been hooked up to the computer all this time...

I'm trying to "restore" it once again, but the screen is still black and iTunes is still on the "preparing iphone for restore" screen.

Wow:D
Very weird, not sure what happened.
Hope its not a hardware problem.

iTunes crashed too... phew it just came back... this damn thing keeps giving me a heart attack...

I must say, it was much easier to do all this with a blackberry :p LOL

I hear you.
Its been a challenge:D

I swear i'm not mentally challenged or slow...

Just new to the iPhone world.... Actually new to the Apple world. Bought my first Mac a month or so ago and now just got a 2G iPhone to play with before getting the iPhone 4....

Well it did it again....

the phone won't power on and i'm guessing i'm going to have to restore the OS again... it's almost 2 now so i have no choice but to give up for now. Will try tomorrow.....

Thanks A LOT for you help bro. I really really appreciate it!!!

Are u putting it in DFU mode, the type that it wont light up screen with the "connect to itunes" picture?

I did everything as per the instructions, but it just wouldn't go into DFU mode. The screen would go black, but redsn0w didn't recognize anything. It kept saying no phone in DFU mode was found....

I eventually had to give up since I had to be up early. When i get home this evening, I will be at it again...

Have to do without a phone for today!!

Why is it that the iClarified video instructions on how to put a phone in DFU mode are different than the on screen prompts on redsn0w???

Which one am i suppose to do??
Neither seems to work for me....

Update: Okay i finally got it in DFU mode by fluke. Now redsn0w says it's "Waiting for reboot". Been saying that for a while and i see no activity on the iPhone or the computer screen.

These instructions are very good. Just follow the steps exactly and keep trying until you get it right. If the apple logo appears on the screen, you've held the home button too long. Try again.

Now i get the "Waiting to Reboot" message and it stays that way.

I tried the "unplug and then replug" trick and that didn't do anything for me...

I think I might do the Blackra1n JB instead.

Any difference between the 2??? Is one better than the other???

Yeah those were the instructions I was looking at but redsn0w says TURN OFF the phone before doing the steps to go into DFU mode....

So confusing!

Figured out my problem....

I had restored using 3.1.3 which was causing the issue.

Re-restored using 3.1.2 and then did the steps. It worked with first try!! Now It's just going through the remaining motions of and rebooting....
