Do you remember issue with a mute button on iPad?, they changed it then after complains let us use both options.

This issue with small call buttons and tiny photos is a big issue for people with old eyes... It's not just about design.

YES! Thats why why have to send Feedback constantly. I am sending one every day. ALL the friends i know with an iPhone think the same thing i do! This is horrible

FEEDBACK people! FEEDBACK

Ive been using 7.1 betas since the beginning. I still can't get used to having my contact pic in a small circle at the right side of my name. I loved iOS 7 but 7.1 kinda of ruined it. I don't get why Apple would not continue using the contacts pics even they advertise it so beautifully on their website. Don't u think a full screen contact pic looks a LOT better than the empty screen??? Look at the pics: Small contact pic, TINY "Remind me" and "Message" (IT LOOKS SO UGLY), empty screen in the middle, the unlock slider cannot be uglier!
I don't think somebody can post an incoming call screen that looks pretty under the new design.

Please Apple, bring the old iOS 7 design back!!!
Well, if this is a joke, then bravo apple. If not then you can't be serious about this! This new UI looks as if it was designed by 6 years old baby. The slide to answer is completelly out of concept here, ugly like hell. The microscopic buttons and user photo is a tragedy itself. And no comment for gray funeral backround. But this has one advantage... Apple can be sure noone will copy their new design :) Nevertheless, I Still hope apple will change this. Until then I'm stay on 7.0.6.

Personally I prefer the slide to answer animation and the answer buttons, but the contact pictures do NEED to come back. It just looks a bit bland without them.
But thats just me :)

It would be good to have a switch to choose between full screen or not. This should please everyone.
There was no switch before really but you were always (or at least certainly for quite a while) able to choose if you wanted to, until iOS 7.1 that is.

I wanted to see how the new controls would work with a full screen photo. I think there can be cases where the white icons and text are not legible. This photo turned out ok, but not all will.

Maybe instead the top icons can be encircled with a blurred. This will make them more visible, but not too prominent that it get's distracting, although it's starting too. But, Apple only uses blur to show depth (Mike Stern was saying how he hated seeing apps use blur only for style) and there's really no depth here to show.

Or they could just be encircled in white, but here the screen becomes far too cluttered.

I think having these controls compete with the photo makes the controls on one hand too hard to read if they are kept subtle, or makes the screen too busy if they are made more prominent. The actual screen 7.1 ended up with is much more simple because nothing competes. The rectangles worked because the 4 separate ones created one structure. 4 circles don't simplify to another shape, so it ends up looking busy.

I posted this mockup a few weeks ago which some people liked.

It allows for a larger picture whilst retaining their button and circle styles, and not having to worry about unreadable text etc.

just an idea.

The blurry version looks good ;) Nevertheless I like more the old UI with bigger buttons. But this is definitelly better than actual version.

Square buttons would be very much welcome as well. I hate the Sony-like buttons in iOS7.

This change is horrific.

So much so I've sign up for this forum just to vent my anger. The circle photos are awful, since they were bought in they have always been flawed looking, it's unnatural, peoples faces are cut apart, they don't fit in properly - photos are straight edged, they always have been, that's just how photos are! Circular pics have never been used for any purpose before because it's NOT HOW PHOTOS SHOULD LOOK. Apple have had a nightmare here, for a brand prides itself making existing products better they have took something that works and flawed it! The irony.

The new call answer screen is awful, awful, awful. it's absolutely shocking. I can't in my mind imagine what the design behind this is. In my years using iPhone this is the one thing that would stop me from using it. It's THAT bad.
The old screen wasn't an issue, it's beautiful, with all our photos clearly showing who is calling, and as for those buttons, those simple obvious buttons, I've never once picked up my phone and been confused which bright green button meant answer and what the big red reject button meant. Did anyone else??

Let us use our photos to display who is calling, our big beautiful photos taken with the fantastic camera on this phone, and stop immediately using those intrusive, ugly as hell circular photos.

100% terrible.
The Worst iPhone We've Ever Made.

Although I agree with you 100% and I hate the new implementation, it's not the iPhone but iOS 7. I like most things about iOS 7 but definitely not this one.

Welcome by the way.

My eyes are not what they used to be and I could see who was calling without having to put on my glasses. It should for the very least be an option in assistivity .
 has fixed issues for people who had motion sickness ,so why not leave something useful for people who are not spring chickens anymore .

I agree with the vision problems, using Apple since the Apple II vision going bad macular degeneration. Apple should have left it has an option they have also changed the add new contact information, can no longer add a new label.

You can add new Custom Labels. Create your new label while editing and then hit Return. (Return replaced any Save button or such that we were accustomed to.)

Why this thread died? Lack of fullscreen ID is one of the uglies mistakes, Apple ever did, yet no one seems to complain, strange... Looks like nobody actualy use it`s iPhone as a phone, or I don`t know...

WHY NONE of the BIG Tech sites wrote just one article about this stupid change? I can believe it..

There have been some things about it, but not too much. It probably died down mostly because there's not much that can really be done until Apple would actually do something about it unfortunately.

The answer to why is because it doesn't matter. Even if there was no contact picture you can still tell who is calling you.

Besides, Apple may have plans for that screen so they need the space. You never know.

If the phone app changes made in iOS 7.1 carry over into iOS 8, it will look even worse on the rumored larger display iPhone 6. If you think Apple wasted a lot if screen real estate on the 4" iPhone 5/5s display, just wait until the 4.7" display of the next model.

Something tells me Apple is going to use that space for something in iOS 8 and that it has to do with a incoming call. Otherwise, poor design choice.
