I wouldn't worry about the factory seal as long as the computer is flawless.
The next computer might be completely sealed but be defective as hell.

this must be the funniest thread ever :D I am sure Apple would also be amused when they hear they need to replace a prefectly fine MBP because the label tore too easily.

this is my experience. i went yesterday to the apple store in carugate milano italy, one of the two italian apple retail store directly managed from apple.
so it is a flagship store.
i bought a 13,3 macbook pro 2.4.
the first one they gave me had two warranty seals on the box : one clearly opened and then another one on the top and new.
they assured me the macbook was new and came in this way directly from apple. is it possible?
i asked for another one and they gave me another one perfectly sealed. :apple:

This is what my seal looks like
Looks very similar to mine. Thanks.

2 pages over a sticker.

2 pages over a sticker. Is yours cut like mine?

2 pages over a sticker. Did yours tear easily or did it require force? If the latter, how much force measured in pounds per square inch?
I'm glad you have the intelligence and maturity to understand the situation. Not everybody here does. BTW "pounds per square inch" is a unit of measure of pressure, not force. I wonder how many pounds of force are required to squash a little troll? LOL

Hey thanks for your helpful contribution. Since you seem to have nothing better to do with your time, why don't you go and contribute your "wisdom" to the following threads as well:

How do you tell the difference between BRAND NEW and REFURBISHED?

How do you tell the difference between BRAND NEW and REFURBISHED?

Thank you I am aware of what I did. Believe me it was nothing that serious, if you would like to know what it was I will happily tell you in a PM.
Hey Marty, why don't you tell me in a PM? :) So you think infantile name-calling and insulting someone who is obviously trying to get some useful information is "nothing serious"?

Hence why I am letting others know.... because I have seen a couple people post after me saying similar things.
That certainly justifies your original post doesn't it?

If its jacked up then request a new one. Take a low-level look at when the system log files started being written to. This will be the tell-tale when the OS started keeping track of things.
What do you mean by "jacked up"? What do you mean by "low-level"? Is there a setting that gives you more detail or something?

Otherwise, be very grateful that this seems to be the largest problem currently on your plate at this stage of your life.
Hmmmm. "largest problem currently on your plate", "stage of your life"? This sounds like some canned advice that an IBM manager might give an employee who was being layed off or a grandfather to his grandson who is going to jail or something. ;) Don't see how it is relevant here.

Ok so now you're saying it's "like" it was already cut, in prior posts you were saying that it was most definitely cut before you opened the box
Before you nit-pick, know your facts. Go to the original post and find:
the edges of the two pieces are smooth like it had been cut
Sheesh!

...and for the record, how in any way was I being rude to you? I think you're a bit too sensitive.
Sensitive?
yeah if you turned the computer on already, which im sure you did..

I can't believe you're asking for a replacement just because the white sticker was ripped, seriously who cares?
That's rude or at least the condescending tone is.

Hey smart guy.

"Pressure is an effect which occurs when a force is applied on a surface."

Thanks for letting everyone know that 2+2 does in fact equal 4 though.

I think the term force is overly used for the wrong context. Anyways, I believe the term we need is tension, not pressure or force.
"Use the Tension, Luke!" (doesn't seem to have quite the same ring to it!) :D

OP,

This thread has gone on for far too long. I just wanted to say one thing.

My co-worker's 13" was not opened. The seal was 100% intact. I watched him open it at work.

When I bought my 17" from the Apple Store it also was not opened. Seal perfectly intact.

As mentioned the label is perforated, but I've bought three separate new MacBook Pros and not one of them had the perforation severed. So no, seeing it broken is not status quo.

This said, I think it's a minor issue and one you shouldn't worry about AS LONG AS the box itself was sealed. If the box wasn't sealed then I might be a little concerned.

So this thread started almost 3 days ago. I'd like to know at this point what the OP is going to do. He should have his mind made up at this point. I certainly hope he doesn't want this thread to continue, as it's fully ran it's course and there's nothing more than jokes and puns being exchanged back and forth.

OP, relax and enjoy your new computer...people have given you enough proof...if you don't want to listen/follow any advice then why did you ask this question on forums? just follow what your mind says.

I opened a macbook recently and it had the same seal...it came out without any force or pressure (though it had a deep 1cm scratch...but thats another story :D )
I also opened a 15inch pro and opened it the same way. If the box was sealed and in perfect condition, you shouldn't be worrying at all.
